Straight men have no idea of how uncomfortable they make women, to a point where women are automatically on guard whenever they meet a new guy. I know this firsthand because every time I meet a girl and she finds out I’m gay, I can visibly watch her guard drop; her body language changes to complete relief. It’s pretty astounding to observe.

Granted, I’m sure if a girl is homophobic it’s a different story, but you get my point.

I looked at some of the reblog and I don’t think a lot of people really get this. It’s not just about being straight men that makes women uncomfortable. It’s when they try to hit on her, making remarks that are borderline sexual harassment, cat calling and/or “thinks he had a chance with her” Or, on a different note, judge her base on her appearance. They started making comments that makes women uncomfortable. They acts in ways that makes women uncomfortable. Hell, they even touch her without asking, thinking or pay any attention to her body language. Suddenly putting an arm around her shoulder thinking it’s okay.

And they never get it that these things make women uncomfortable. They cat call then think we are at fault for not liking it.  The reason a woman let her guard drops when finding out the OP is gay is because she knows that he will not try to hit on her. Not every men is like this to every women. But I find that the ones who either thinks he had a chance/ try to impress a girl/ or try to hit on a girl, will display some degree of these actions that range from being mildly uncomfortable to downright disgusting. and they never seems to get it. don’t tell me we should just tell you “no” my sister yelled, no, let go to this guy who is no longer her boyfriend and he wouldn’t let go. so yeah.

Unfortunately the reaction women have to gay men is the opposite reaction they have to gay girls (as a bisexual girl I’ve experienced it and have heard girls talk about lesbians wjen they didnt know i was bi and they also werent actually homophobic at all). Girls tend to be rather touchy with each other but the moment you come out to them suddenly they’re a lot more reserved and any friendly behaviour or compliment is seen as an advance or flirtation. Suddenly you are very similar to the straight men predators bc suddenly you might want to pursue her too.

This is not a criticism on women either, it’s more of an observation of mine because I do it too, subconsciously and instinctively.
