Hi pervert! I've Ć“ābtained an item...
found this in an old folder and cleaned it up in like 2seconds because it's good
i gif'd it
Someone will point out the disproportionate popularity of White male characters and people will come out of the woodwork to go 'that's not racism or misogyny it's just this character is more interesting/hot/relatable' as if the very notion that White men are more interesting/hot/relatable than women or characters of colour isn't literally racism and misogyny. Thanks for proving the point!
Mongol Derby 2026
The Mongol derby has just concluded for 2026. It is put on by The Equestrianists, covering 1000 kilometers. 45 riders and 1500 horses make the trek.
"A thousand kilometres of Mongolian steppe. Ten days, give or take. You ride a relay of semi-wild horses, swapping every 35km at an urtuu (a horse station) run by a herding family. By the finish line you'll have ridden just shy of 30 different animals, each one drawn from a hat at the next station.
Riding hours are 7am to 7pm. You can stay in the urtuu's or camp wherever you've ended up. Kit is capped at 5kg in the saddlebags, weighed at the start line. No whips, no spurs, no marked course, no outside help, no packed lunches. You navigate with a GPS and a map you pick your line across country that has no paths.
Every horse is vet-checked before you take it and again when you hand it in. Heart rate, soundness, the lot. If your horse fails a post-leg check, you sit out a time penalty while it recovers. Push a horse too hard, you get penalised. Break a welfare rule, you're out of the race, no appeal. There are also a bunch of technical rules we use to keep the horses and humans safe and to ensure we get an even, competitive field across 1000km of wilderness. Beyond that, it's down to you. When to push, when to ease off. Whether to ride alone or fall in with other riders for a stretch. Whether to stop at a ger for airag and mutton or press on to make the next station before dark.
To enter is an achievement. To finish, a victory. Winning is almost beside the point."
Regardless of the point, this year's winning rider, Laura Van Laar, completed in 9 days. She is a rider from the Netherlands.
She kept the lead most of the race, but served a penalty mid-race for a horse who came up lame. She was able to make up time on some particularly fast draws - she literally beat the crew between two of the checkpoints, and her pony pulsed in at only 44 bpm.
(Don't worry - the luck of the draw wasn't with her every time!)
When not on the steppes, she's an endurance rider and a dressage rider:

I feel like contouring is lowkey racist
Is this a joke?
Noo lol I knew Iād regret phrasing it that way. This is tumblr, after allā¦
Itās notĀ āpeople who contour are themselves automatically racistā but that the desired face shape created by contouring is one that, at the end of the day, pretty much reflects existing white standards of beauty. A thinner, pointier nose, smaller chin, high angled cheekbones and (on occasion) smaller lips. Also if youāre darker skinned you have to use a much lighter shade of foundationĀ Ā thus ending up with an overall lighter face.
I probably could have phrased that better.
No, you are absolutely correct. In fact it is not even lowkey in the performance arts/entertainment world. Iāve known how to contour since I was 9, because I was in ballet. I was taught by an older Asian dancer who told me that I was already darker than everyone else, my face couldnāt look different too. So she showed me the basics, then left me with a picture of a white person as the goal to emulate.Ā
Itās always been explicit and intentionally racist in terms of what is considered correct contouring technique is to emulate white associated features. Which is not to say that contouring is bad, but it is good to ask ourselves why we do not contour to make our noses look wider and more distinguished. Or why we donāt shadow and highlight to make the face look perfectly round? While contouring is not bad ( and is actually very cool to literally be able to control the way people perceive your face, itās like magic) itās good to ask ourselves why we contour the way we do.
the situation with harry potter is kind of unprecedented in some ways imo because it is maybe the largest media franchise in history to be created & owned by a single person who still has direct creative control over it. who is also a billionaire with significant cultural/political influence. like the usual "no ethical consumption under capitalism" type excuses shatter on impact when the bigoted author in question is logging onto twitter every day saying explicitly that when you buy the tim hortons ravenclaw donut she is using your donut money to fund the genocide of trans people. like with big franchises usually there's at least a little more diffusion of responsibility than this

This painting simultaneously breaks my heart and fills me with awe and hope. When people speak about how prevalent the bison were across Turtle Island Iām not sure if it fully HITS just how many were slaughtered, how much this land relied on them for proper ecological balanceā¦.
if we want our land to thrive, if we want the next seven generations to survive then we must help the bison (and the indigenous peoples who love/rely on them) to expand and grow until they are once again found all across the land.
Still can't fathom how they traded pure pristine wilderness for McDonald's and Walmarts.
We had millions of tons of the highest quality meat available on earth and they threw them off a cliff and stacked them like garbage.
Completely baffling and unfathomable.
Imagine your ancestors entire way of life gets destroyed, and people ask why you're mad all the time.
Get rid of all of this fucking concrete and plastic and let our plants and animals thrive again.
Itās even worse @elf-witch-in-the-woods because that āpristine wildernessā was actually carefully stewarded and loved. All that beauty and the sheer amount of ecological diversity was no accidentāthe indigenous peoples have been shaping the landscape for thousands of years.
And they killed all the bison because they knew so many tribes relied on themānot just for food, but for their cultural/spiritual power as well. The USA slaughtered them as a systematic genocide attempt.
When the mutual you really enjoy seeing in ur notes shows up in ur notes
I took my little brother (autistic, mostly non verbal) out and he was using his voice keyboard to tell me something, and this little boy (maybe 4 or 5?) heard him and asked me "Is he a robot??" I tried to explain to him that no, he isn't a robot, he just communicates differently, but my darling brother was in the background max volume "I am robot I am robot I am robot I am robot"
My little brother insisted if I was going to post about him, he wanted a cut of the "profits". When I explained to him that Tumblr isn't monetized, and is pretty pointless, he and my older brother pointed out that he'd still be bringing me "fame and notoriety" if the post got "big". So we agreed, if the post hit 10k notes, which seemed extremely farfetched and silly at the time, I'd take my little brother out for sushi (his favorite food) and let him eat as much as he wants.
I guess God wanted the little robot to enjoy some sushi š£ š„²
