Michael Angelo and Picasso. Bach and Beethoven. Prince and Tupac. What do these artists have in common…? TUCS.
The Urge to Create Something.
The average person can be touched by a piece of art, a poem, a story, music… but only a handful of us know what it’s like to be literally POSSESSED by an idea, to be assaulted by sound, words, or pictures, and to be tortured until we get it out BY ANY MEANS AVAILABLE. You may THINK you understand, but truly, you don’t.
You have NO idea…
Many of the greats of old were thought to be insane. Odd. Weird. Eccentric.
When in reality, they just needed RELEASE.
Miles Davis, in an interview, was asked how he comes up with the music he plays… he answered “I hear music ALL the time.” The interviewer then asked, “Are you hearing music right now?”
He said…
“YES.”
Just watched Adam Conover (of Adam Ruins Everything) make such a solid point that I think we should spread far and wide. Yes, having AI write your emails is lazy, sure, but people love being lazy. We need to really emphasize that sending AI emails (or using AI responses on social media, or publishing AI flyers, or or or) is rude.
It's rude. You're making someone take their time to read something you couldn't bother to write. You're telling them they were so unimportant you couldn't be bothered to actually take the time to say something yourself. And frankly, you're lying about it while you're at it.
It's rude.

Raises hand.....
Because people stopped reading and using critical thinking to form their own rationale.
Growing up, I was, what is now known as, “The Nerd”. I was quiet and soft spoken. Usually I only talked when I had something important to say. But because I was a child, I was ignored. Until they needed something fixed, or a problem solved, like how to make your vcr/betamax stop blinking 12:00 because you were too lazy to read the instructions. You just hooked it up and hit play…
When I talked about the injustices done to black peoples, I was told I was “too young to understand”… when I heard the grown folk talking about “generational wealth” and how the stock market worked; and then video game consoles and computers came, you said the games were “a fad” and computers were “too expensive” when I suggested investing in those companies at the time… I was talked over, ignored, or told to “stay out of grown folks business”…
And now, in the age of social media, those same people see what I post and say “You’ve changed. You were never this vocal growing up.”
But I was…
Y’all just wouldn’t listen…
This is so
Unnecessary
how do you explain to someone that this is your sense of humour
“What could the audio possibly be?”

“Oh,”
If I ever don’t laugh at this, assume I died.

hi!
Talking about AI, have you noticed an increase in the amount of asks and/or DM that seem to have been written or embelished by AI? If so, what are your thoughts on that? Do you mind? Would prefer people writing with their own words? You don't care at all?
Today I saw this paper on the use of LLM on academic papers. And it's very clear that their use is notoriously increased, whethere it's being disclosed or not. It doesn't allow me to paste the link here 🤬but it's "The diffusion of large language models in published academic articles" by Kyle Siler
Looking forward to your thoughts on this 😊
cheers!
I would say in my professional life, AI is definitely creeping in. And by creeping in, i mean being used with wild abandon by some as a replacement for using their brains to read or write things.
But on here, not that I have noticed.
Other than more and more AI generated pictures and video, which just pisses me off when I even momentarily get fooled. Yes, the fact we can do these things almost totally convincingly is impressive. But it doesn't mean we should.
So yes. Use your God-given brain to find the words to express yourself. Or to draw or paint the pictures. Or write the poem. Or take the picture.
it's not that AI doesn't have a place in the world. But expression of ideas and creativity isn't it.
