i am utterly annoyed by “writers” on the internet telling people “here’s how to avoid sounding like artificial intelligence! these models overuse antithesis. never use antithesis again. if you see an em dash, shoot it with a gun. if you utilize chiasmus? you may as well plug your miserable tendons into the machine, baby, because you’re a robot now” this is a waste of time. the pattern detecting machine will continue to detect and replicate patterns. it’s good to be aware of those patterns, but there’s no reason to chain yourself to them. if you want to sound like a person—be a person, and read what has assuredly been written by other people. you’re a pattern machine, too, and you will emit what you consume. and the good news is, you’re at an advantage! you are, i cannot stress this enough, a person
