The Romanticism of Call Me by Your Name
I watched Call Me by Your Name for the second time last night. I know that it’s slightly controversial (it’s legal, the age of consent in Italy is 14), but the cinematography is exquisite. Plus, who doesn’t love Timothée Chalamet. The way it captured how Elio felt. The way he was hesitant at first and then discovered himself. It was beautiful.
The only problem is that now I want to escape to a French or Italian countryside, stay in a villa, and find true love. For someone who has never been in love and is in quarantine due to a pandemic, that’s a slight problem. But honestly, the romanticism of it all. Falling in love in the countryside, discovering yourself, being free. Is it too much to want?
