Reading in your target language just got so much easier

This cool little website, called readlang, allows you to upload your book, in your target language, from epub form into their website, right? And you just read your book from there. When you don’t know a word, what do you do? Do you go to google dot com and type in that word? Nope. You fucking click it. And it tells you the word. 

I am currently reading the 100 (this is the book that the tv show came from) and I can already tell reading this way is so much easier. I highly suggest making an account. It’s free, and works for more than 80 languages!

I have my french exam in a week so I've been catching up. This is the last basic course, the next one I will be on intermediate level!

Yesterday I went to see a friend's band, I finished my photographic film and when I got home I wrote something that I haven't finished yet. The day before I had a date with a girl and it went really well :)

Those are the notebooks I use to write. the one on the right is really messy and ugly but the other one is where I rewrite the text/poem/etc. so it's all finished and more organized. I love that notebook, it's based on "Starry Night Over the Rhone" by Van Gogh.

I spent some hours writing that night and it was so satisfying, I enjoy it so much.

1. Are you named after anyone? No, my parents chose it because it means 'life' in greek and they thought it was really poetic.

2. When was the last time you cried? I used to cry every fucking day but I'm in a better place now lol. Even though things changed I still am really sensitive so maybe three days ago? I don't remember quite well.

3. Do you have kids? I don't, thanks god

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot? Yes, way too much, it's a defense mechanism lol

5. What’s your eye color? Brown

6. Scary movie or happy ending? Happy ending, I love romantic comedies just for the dull happy endings.

7. Any special talents? I know how to play the piano.

8. Where were you born? Buenos Aires, Argentina.

9. What are your hobbies? reading, writing and watching Wes Anderson's movies on loop.

10. Do you have any pets? one dog, Jesse, named after Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad.

11. What sports do you play/have you played? I used to rollerskate since I was four years old until I turned seventeen. I went to competitions around my country and I was pretty good at it.

12. How tall are you? 1.60 m (in Argentina we use a different measure system, I'm sorry)

13. Favorite subject in school? my favorite subjet was literature (duh) and history.

14. Dream job? being a writer

Lo que lleva a un pibe a ser chorro

el pibe se levanta esa mañana pensando que será como cualquier otra. pero no, esta es diferente. porque esa mañana su vieja le confiesa que la echaron del laburo y que él va a tener que dejar el colegio para salir a trabajar. el pibe tiene dieciséis años y en realidad quiere seguir estudiando. pero sabe que si no labura no come. he aquí el primer paso que lleva a un pibe a ser chorro: ponerlo entre el dilema de elegir entre su educación y la comida.

el pibe lleva laburando un año y tres meses pero sigue sin alcanzarle para comprarse esas zapatillas que ve siempre yendo al trabajo. lo poco que cobra lo gasta en cosas necesarias de la casa y le sobra un vuelto que sólo le alcanza para comprarse puchos. escucha a su compañero de trabajo contarle sobre el nuevo modelo de celular que se compró y observa el suyo, ese que solía ser de su mamá, que tiene dos años y la pantalla rota. el segundo paso que lleva a un pibe a ser chorro: mostrarle todo lo que quisiera tener pero que jamás va a lograr tener.

el pibe vuelve todas las tardes en tren. ya está acostumbrado a las miradas de reojo de las señoras al verlo pasar pero ese día le molestan más de lo usual. cuando los dos pibes de uniformes se ríen de sus zapatillas desgastadas no se queda callado. sin embargo el guardia del tren no lo escucha, nadie lo hace y en el medio de los ojos cargados de desprecio le dice “bajate, negro de mierda”. puede ver la chispa de satisfacción que se enciende en el resto de pasajeros al soltar esas palabras. ese día llega una hora más tarde a su casa por tener que esperar al próximo tren. el tercer paso que lleva a un pibe a ser chorro es sencillo: marginalizarlo y poner a las otras clases sociales en su contra, como si él hubiese elegido ser pobre.

al igual que aquella mañana de hace un año y medio esa noche es decisiva en la vida del pibe. entre birra y birra se desahoga con los pibes del maltrato cotidiano que sufre de parte de su jefe, de los pocos gustos que puede darse y las largas horas que trabaja, de la gente de mierda a la que tiene que atender. el otro pibe le da la solución. le comenta un poco la movida, la cantidad de guita que consigue por semana y la manera para que la policía no lo joda. el pibe piensa en su vieja, que come noche por medio para que el plato de comida de él sea más completo, en esas zapatillas que todavía no pudo comprarse, en la remera gastada de su hermano. y acepta. el cuarto paso que lleva a un pibe a ser chorro es definitivo: luego de dificultarle su acceso a la educación, a la salud y a un trabajo digno facilitarle la salida ilegal.

por último, como paso final, responsabilizarlo pura y exclusivamente a él. lavarse las manos, imponer el discurso de la meritocracia para que la gente crea que el que es pobre es porque quiere serlo y el que roba es porque es malo. deshumanizarlo hasta tal punto que la sociedad festeje su muerte en manos de la policía. y ¡listo! ya marcaste el camino que lleva a un pibe sin educación, sin sus condiciones básicas cumplidas y pobre a ser chorro. uno de los grandes logros del capitalismo que viene brindando resultados exitosos en la mayoría de los países.

sooo yesterday was a busy day. I went to the Latin American and Caribbean conference of #Clacso (Latin American council of Social Sciences). this year was a Global Forum on critical thinking. there were diferent talks of many topics such as “Democracy, citizenship and state of exception”, “Right to information, media and democracy”,   “Against racism and racists” and “Capitalism, neoliberalism and the crisis of democracy”. Those are some of the talks I went to and they were all so interesting, I learned a lot.

I bought some magazines like the ones in the picture (the one on the left is the programme of #Clacso, not a magazine). As you can see in the title of one of them in the right, they are all from the left wing lol. They are from different organizations such as “Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo” and “La Garganta Poderosa”. If you’re interested in human rights in Argentina you should search those up or ask me :)

list of activities :)

A few days ago, before making this studyblr, I made a list of activities I like to do, I want to do and things I want to realize in my daily life. So here it goes!

Daily activities I enjoy doing:

writing new stuff or continuing with the old ones (I have another tumblr for that @pensamientosinconclusos​)

reading

watching a movie

painting/ drawing (eventhough I’m not good at it)

dancing (same as above lol)

Things I want to do:

buy a camera and start taking photos (done)

go to a coffee store just to write (I can’t believe i’ve never done this yet) 

go to a poetry reading at a library/bar, once alone and another time with someone else   

go to the cinema by myself   

write while being high (another thing I can’t believe i’ve never done yet)   

go to a ceramics course   

listen to an orchestra   

visit the Teatro Colón (it’s an opera theater in Buenos Aires. It’s considered one of the five best in the world and that makes it really expensive)   

learn to play the violin and the piano   

learn to cook better   

show my friends what I write (it’s kind of a secret)

start yoga classes

  Things I want to realize in my daily life:

keep track of my days

meditate everyday

watch a movie once a week  

review what I’m learning in French once a week

write at least once a week

go to a coffe store to write/read/study once a week

go to the cinema once a month

visit a museum I haven’t visit yet or one with new exhibitions once a month

my idea is to edit this post whenever something it’s done so that I can realize by the end of the year how much I have achieved.

So yesterday I finally had my exam which wasn't that good. It also was the Pride parade (or march, I'm not really sure how to say it in English) in my country so I spent the whole day there surrounded by my best friends (that's us in the photo, of course). I took a lot of pictures with my new camera so when I get them I'm going to publish some here, I know it's not related to this tumblr purpose but idgaf
