“I wouldn’t jump to any conclusions, yet.”
“Can you even see? Please take them off, I’m actually a little affronted.”

Don’t try to borrow your dad’s reading glasses.
“You look terrible in those.”

rosenymphadora:
Rose sighs heavily, tired of everyone beating around the metaphorical bush. Teddy and Lily are fucking and there’s no use in denying it, but she won’t push it. Not today. Today’s the day for getting plastered and ignoring all conversations that don’t have something to do with alcohol.
“Hugo is the one who avoids me, not the other way around. I’m a disappointment as a sister and he’s a fucking wonderboy, isn’t he?” There it was, again. The constant reminder that her brother will be better than her for the rest of their lives and there’s nothing she can do about it. “Anyways, I’m not living with them anymore so I haven’t been seeing them as much. Katie and I have been busy, obviously. With training and all. So, you know–haven’t been able to have family game nights or any of that.”
She fiddles with the cocktail napkin in front of her, trying to ignore the sense that she’s unraveling from the inside out. It feels as if she’s been keeping her life bottled up for years and now there’s no more room, and it’s pressurized, and someone put her in a very hot chamber with no warning. How is she supposed to come out on top if she can’t even breathe properly anymore? “I reckon it’s nice to have someone who worships the ground you walk on.”
Again, Lily rolls her eyes. She seems to do that a lot around Rose under normal circumstances, and with the way her cousin’s been acting lately, it's just bound to get worse. She scoffs, eyebrows arching. "Look Roe, the only one who thinks Hugo is better than you is you. You can think people have been constantly comparing you, and they have before, but no one whose opinion should matter really has the time to give two shits about either of your lives because they're concerned with their own. And as for your parents, they'll push you because that's what everyone's parents fucking do, not just yours. They love you, though, not any less than they love your brother. Fucking christ."
She straightens her back and orders another drink, her previous plan just to drink what Rose does thrown out the window. Lily thinks she might be the only one around who's A) known Rose since forever and B) is tactless enough not to even attempt to spare her feelings. Lily’s blunt with everyone, but brutally so with the people she loves. Doesn't really get her much gratitude but it's never stopped her.
"Are you- talking about Teddy? Sure, then. But if that's all there was, it'd be dreadfully boring. More to it than that." Rose is goading her and she knows it and it's working. She doesn't have the patience to care or work around it right now, though.

Lily smiles at the bartender, not putt off in the slightest by Rose’s little barb. She shrugs, turning back to her cousin. “Nope.” She says, popping the ‘p’ in an attempt to further irritate Rose- Lily’s never claimed to be compassionate. “I don’t think it matters much either, but whatever.”
Taking the other shot, Lily watches the flames for a bit before putting them out, after Rose has already downed her’s. She throws it back, and the taste is awful and it burns all the way down her throat. She loves it. But she won’t order another one for herself, she’ll just stay on par with Rose, she supposes. Shr hadn’t been planning on getting very drunk but its hardly relevant now. She crosses her legs, brushes some of her hair over a shoulder and shrugs again. “Surely you coukd have asked Hugo- or are you avoiding him again? Hard to keep up with your interpersonal relationships, you know. Gives me whiplash.”
Lily had both been expecting Rose’s next question, and hoping she hadn’t asked at all. “Yeah, I’ve been. S'good. Whatever.” Clipped answers because she doesn’t wantto say anything more than that. She doesn’t want to actively deny what’s obvious to Rose about Teddy, but it isn’t something she wants to talk about in depth either. She figures it’s karma for butting into Rose’s own relationships so many times.
teddy:
He starts laughing before she finishes talking and stumbles slightly back, letting her push him away. The grin doesn’t leave his face as he raises his hands in mock surrender. “Alright, alright, I’ll keep it chaste. Only for you, princess.”
“Well, I didn’t say that.” She huffs, nudges his shoulder with her own, but she doesn’t stop smiling. “That’d be boring.” Now she does kiss him, brief but firm. “And I’m hungry & you don’t have anything edible in your fridge so-”
princess caterina:
“Go fish somewhere else, Lily. Not in an ego-feeding mood today.”
Wow, okay. “First of all, not fishing. Second of all, if I was, do you honestly think my ego needs feeding? Lastly, what crawled your ass and died there?”
dear beau:
“Lil, I’m wiping down a table. You know, like we do when we open. Which we’re doing.”
“No.” Que the groaning. “Could you be a darling and get me some water when you’re done with that?”
awful:
“Me? Judge? I’m hurt. No, I just heartily enjoy stating the obvious. I might also mention that you have red hair, that you’re absolutely hobbit-eque in stature, that you have expensive taste in high heels–shall I go on, or are you satisfied?” He asked, faux-sincerity oozing from him like slime. Maybe he shouldn’t wind her up, but Merlin above was it fun.
“Whatever.” And now she’s pointedly ignoring him, turning around to pick up what she dropped when he’d first spoken to her and place it back onto the shelf. She pretends to browse for a bit, because she’s actually completely forgotten what she came here for. “Did you actually have a valid reason for bothering me, or do you just heartily enjoy it?”
“Don’t know what you’re doing, exactly, but it’d be wonderful if you could do it quietly.” Her hangover has a hangover.
shirty:
“Is that meant to impress me?”
"No? God, I was just trying to ask if my hair looked okay.”
teddy:
“I guess it doesn’t matter. Not my money, right?” He smiles, then, showing his teeth and leaning in closer. “Don’t tempt me, sweetheart.”
“Oh, I would never.” Lily grins, lowers her eyelashes & tilts her head towards him— & then places the palm of her hand flat against his fave to shove him away. “Sweetheart.” She laughs, head tossed back.
teddy:
“I’m sure they were, but Lily, how many pairs of shoes have you bought in the past month?”
“What? None!” Three. “And I hardly see how it matters anyways. I like shoes, bite me.”

“What do you fucking care?” Rose snaps, not appreciating her cousin’s condescending tone. “I was fucking walking. Now I can’t bloody walk where I want? Can’t even have a smoke without someone being up my asshole? Christ Almighty.” It’s not Lily’s fault that her mood is sour, but she’s not doing much to improve it and Rose doesn’t have time for kindness that would go unappreciated. She’s angry for no reason, or yet too many reasons to put into a cohesive reason. “The better question is what are you doing here? Does Uncle Harry know that his daughter frequents these places?”
But she can’t think of anything better to do than get piss drunk at a bar bordering on an area full of people who would love to her at her family, so she opens the door and struts in with her very Rose like sway and slides onto a stool in front of the bar. Cigarette still hanging from her lips, she waves down the bartender (a very curious looking man who seemed to be taking her hair colour in, fucking Weasley genes) and orders a neat whiskey, knowing her cousin would follow her–she ordered another for her.
How could she admit that she was worn out? How could a person even be worn out before they started life? She had worked so hard during her school years and now she’s here and she’s tired. Training, she knew, would take everything she had. There was always something driving her– she couldn’t ever name it– and she feels like she’s lost it. “Have you heard who’s Head this year?”
Lily doesn’t bother to resist the urge to roll her eyes. The sudden snap might have surprised someone who hadn’t known Rose their entire life, but Lily has, and so she’s entirely used to her cousin’s dramatics ( & vice versa ). She’s already entirely uninterested in whatever the other is yelling about now, so she simply juts her hip out to the side and lays a hand on it while she waits for Rose to finish.
When she does, stomping off into the bar, Lily heaves put an annoyed sigh and shakes her head. Did she mention she really doesn’t fucking care? ( Well she does, really, because Rose is family even though the Weasley-Potters have been slowly unraveling at the seems for as long as she can remember. But whatever. Whatever. ) However, she’s certainly not going to let her cousin just simmer in her own frustration because that never does anything useful.
She hums as she slinks into the pub, obnoxiously click clacking her way down the floor to where Rose is sitting. She takes the spare drink with a pleased little noise ( whiskey’s not her favorite choice, but she’s hardly going to mention that now. ) and hops up on the seat next to the older of the two. “No, but I don’t need to have to guess, based on your whole-” she gestures to Rose’s expression with her free hand. “Not reallt a flattering look on one’s countenance. You’ll get frown lines that way.”
teddy:
“Well, that’s… nice. I guess.”
“They were 40% off, Ted.”
