First post! Welcome!
Hi everyone. My name is George Bowles, I am a sophomore at The George Washington University pursuing a major in English and Creative Writing and this is my blog. I wanted to start this blog because I love to write and I’m super passionate about music so this seemed like the logical thing to do. The idea of the blog is to discuss artists and albums that I like and why. I plan on having weekly artist spotlights and an album of the week (this may change as the school year comes along.) If you’re like me who walks everywhere I go, it’s a constant struggle to find a stylish, comfortable shoe. These block heels are not too high with a singular strap over the foot for security. They are comfortable with a throwback vibe that will spice up any outfit especially with the pop of red. I would pair these with tailored neutral trouser for work or a skinny jean for a weekend look.

I want to break free, and I think we all reach a point when we want to do exactly that: break free from our friends, our family, our life, our job, even our wardrobe. We have this inclination to break free because we say to ourselves that there is something better out there for us; there is some other place on this earth that we will find solace. As late night thoughts consume, it is easy to fall down the slippery slope thinking that there is another life out there waiting for you to be lived. I am writing this not to tell you the cliche that everything will be ok, that this life you have now will work out, but I am just here to tell you that you are not alone. I’m here to tell you that the inclination to dream a new reality is completely and utterly human, and that’s the beauty of it.
I’m personally in a style rut right now, and I’m looking for something to spice up my style, something that separates me from any sense of being basic. I’m thinking about updating an old pair of jeans with this spontaneous patchwork. What are your thoughts?

Are people afraid to stand out or do they just inherently all the same?
As I walk the streets of the District, I fear a world where people are all the same. I see the same girl with the same laced-up heels, the same low cut black dress, the same priorities, the same desires, the same dreams.
That’s why I pulled out this photo. My hair is currently bob-length but I think I might bring back the pixie. I ache for a sense of originality in what seems like a uniform world.
To all those people out there who are reading at this late hour, please remember to embrace all that you are. Embrace the quirks, the individuality, the qualities of your being that make you, you. Celebrate these unique qualities because if we all suppressed the things that made us different, our existence would be terribly boring.

Is fashion art?
When I was asked this in my History of Fashion class, I immediately thought is this even a question? To me, art is a means at which an individual can dig his struggles, loves, pains, and triumphs from within him and expose them. Fashion is a means at which I throw my emotions and my experiences into the world. And that’s what makes fashion a beautiful commonplace at which we all have the power to uniquely express who we are.
As you all probably know, I look for unique pieces, pieces that make you give a second look or make you wonder what that actually is. To brighten up the work day, I would pair this with actually a thin, pin-striped button down, tucking the collar in the necklace, with a navy blazer, grey tailored trouser, bright yellow heels or a bright red lipstick. Use these accessories to pull in vibrant colors from this statement necklace.
I fell in love with this article. It’s encouraging 20-year-old women to embrace unconventional fashion trends while you’re young. That’s the whole point of being young. You are not only pushing fashion boundaries, but defining them for your future. Make your fashion future something that excites you, like wearing an outfit exposing undergarments, inspired by Christian Dior’s latest looks.
