What do you think about alternate universes?
I've been to two of them. They were... okay, I suppose. I didn't die in either of them. That's always a good thing.
I've met alternate versions of myself and my loved ones, too. My favourite was the other Marius. Very kind, very caring, even if he was stubborn and always put his own injuries and mental health secondary to others.
My least favourite was Maddox. It was a different version of my.. ex? I suppose? My ex Sinclair. It stabbed me. Said it liked to see my blood. It wasn't well in the head, but how many of us are?

“well, i’m awfully proud.” he grins, ruffling his hair and getting a bowl. “how have things been going, everything alright? sorry i’ve been so busy lately, jon is very stressed.”
“It’s been… okay. I like not having school right now. And I’m happy I’m going to normal school soon. But I need help with my Hebrew.” Vic explained, leaning against Ellery’s hand for more touch.
“of course!” ellery nods, scratching behind vic’s ears. “i would love to help with whatever it is you need, i know bar mitzvah training can be a lot.”
Vic purred. “Okay…” he knew Ellery was telling the truth, but he was a bit preoccupied with how nice it felt to be scratched behind the ears like that.
“it doesn’t need to be tonight, i’m free ass day tomorrow.” it snorts, taking a bite of mac and cheese. “mm, that’s good, thank you for making it.”
“I’m glad you like it!” Vic grinned happily. “I made it special with more cheese.”
“it’s really good!” ellery smiles, taking another bite. “did someone teach you that, or were you just experimenting?”
“I wanted to see if it made it yummier! And it did!” Vic was getting good at trying new foods.
“that’s great, you did a great job.” he hums, halfway through the bowl. he wants to stop now, a bit tired to try to eat, but it will be a good example for his son. so he finishes the bowl. “so good.”
“Thanks!” Vic beamed at the compliment. He had his own half-finished bowl, hidden behind homework and Hebrew transliterations and drawings.
“alright, d’you wanna keep working on your hebrew, or do you want to watch tv and practice more tomorrow?”
“I wanna practice tomorrow.” Vic declared, pulling his bowl out to keep eating. “Let’s watch tv!”
ellery smiles, grabbing his cane. “well, c’mon then. you can eat that one the couch.” he makes his way there, slow as he is. “i’ve been meaning to show you my little pony, it was my favorite damn show as a kid.”
“Okay!” Vic smiled and followed Ellery to the couch.
ellery curls up in the corner, offering part of the blanket he grabbed to vic. “alright, so, it’s about a bunch of magic horses and the power of friendship.” he explains, clicking to turn the tv on.
Vic took one of the blankets and put his head in Ellery’s lap.
