Back on the Kibbe Soapbox- Twice Jihyo

Hi guys, I actually needed help from one of my more experienced kibbe friends on this one because Jihyo was very puzzling. In case you don't know, Kibbe is a body type system made by stylist David Kibbe that takes into consideration your bone structure, flesh, and muscle.

I'm pretty new to kibbe, but if there's one thing I'm sure of, it's that Jihyo is a romantic. Romantics are rounded- think Marilyn Monroe. Rounded, fleshy, and of course, utterly stunning. However, romantic clothes aren't currently in style, and I think often times romantics end up looking... over weight. The sharp lines dont blend with the roundness of romantic features, and honestly nothing quite blends well, natural, gamine, dramatic, classic lines all look pretty bad.

There's also been a long history of jyp accusing jihyo of not taking care of her body- aka calling her fat. Honestly, it's pretty infuriating in the first place, but looking at her in romantic lines it becomes clear just how thin she is.

First, let's take a look at her in some lines that don't suit her.

First let's note: God Jihyo is gorgeous. Second note, these are all looks we are quite used to on her. But just let these soak in.

First one she looks a little wide, although it emphasizes her curves. Second she looks flat, flat hips, tubular waist, and her arms look super short. Third makes her look a bit disproportionate, like theres just her chest on a box.

Now her wearing her lines.

Now notice how stunning she looks in these? I was actually shocked by the first photo. See how thin her arm looks? It actually looks too thin in comparison to the rest of her body.

Honestly I wish I could say more but I think it's obvious once you see it, and with the lack of romantic lines shes worn... all I can say is jyp disappoints me.

Anyways, I'll be dreaming of jihyo in these outfits.

Reblogging rather than editing, just cause I'd like to note that the thinness in her arms is likely due to the extreme dieting that's expected of kpop idols. Being a romantic (naturally having more fat cause fat makes curves) means she's likely expected to diet heavily. I'm also very glad there seems to be a slight shift in kpop beauty standards, as muscle is beginning to be more attractive (albeit extreme thinness is still very present).

Also please do not try to argue with me on the beauty standards, multiple members in twice have noted the extremities of their diets and I'd recommend referring to that before arguing what the beauty standards are and if they're healthy.

Hello! I don't know if you do kibbe typing for girl groups but I was wondering what type would Olivia Hye from loona fall under, since I can't seem to categorise her anywhere. Thankyou!

Thanks so much for this question! I'm not super familiar with loona so this was a fun little challenge! I was debating between soft gamine and soft classic but...

Olivia hye should be SG.

She looks great in soft and dynamic pieces! Looking at her hands too, they tend to be a little bigger.

The reason I hesitated was due to color blocking.

I quite disliked these color blocking pieces due to how it contrasts with her softness.

After some digging, I found softer color blocking that looked quite beautiful on her.

In addition, the iconic ability to pull off crazy outfits

So in conclusion: a beautiful soft gamine! Her face is just so squishy- how could she not be a soft something?

Blackpink kibbe types

Hi, thanks for asking!

All of blackpink are gamine types. Yes, all.

Jennie is just gamine. I don't get any softness in her joints, but she's not sharp enough to be FG. She's definitely got the classic gamine build, and she pulls off noise so effortlessly.

I think her mature and put together style is also proof that type doesn't make your style. Otherwise she'd be a classic.

Note the gamine lines in this outfit? The distressed jeans are a very subtle way to add noise to her outfit, along with the mix of patterns, colors, and accessories.

Jisoo is also gamine.

I've seen people style her as soft classic, or other soft types and I simply don't agree. She also has that clear gamine build. Her essence definitely isn't gamine, but her body type certainly is.

Noise definitely suits her well. I think she doesn't quite have the essence to own some of these flashier looks though.

That's why I much prefer these simpler color blocking looks on her, as it works around her essence better. Tldr? Stop typing by essence, jisoo is a gamine.

Lisa is a Flamboyant Gamine.

I could argue this to my death. She's got a long lanky FG build. Some have a squatter FG build but that is simply not Lisa.

First off, color blocking. She pulls it off effortlessly.

Second, ankles? She shows them so much when she's not wearing boots- which is incredibly important for FGs. Not sure if I need to say anything else. It's just so apparent to me haha!

Now, this one I know everyone will argue with me about.

Rose is a Flamboyant Gamine as well.

Hear me out, she may be known for an hourglass waist, but I think their outfit all out incredible emphasis on the waist. Introduce her to a non-kpop kibbe person and I doubt they would notice her waist. And actually, if you look Rose's hips in comparison to her shoulders, you see she's not R or TR.

If you narrow in on that one aspect, yeah, she's got such a tiny waist, but look at the whole image. Take a step back or two from your screen. If you saw her in the airport and didn't know who she was, hourglass figure probably wouldn't be the first to come to your mind. I'd also like to take this moment to have you stare at her elbows. That's my whole point, let's proceed.

Another photo where I'm going to talk about her waist. Yes. I think it's the most misleading thing that often causes people to type her as soft. Notice how she's pulling a gentle s-curve? Notice how little curve she's actually pulling despite having curve. Despite her measurements, it's just not prominent- much like... How... FGs... Don't... Have... That... Much... Curve....

In addition, I'd just like to point out the FG shoulders. Also note the structure of this outfit. I think Rose definitely has a romantic essence too, but don't be fooled. FG. FG. FG.
