An Update And An Appeal For Help
So, we got a phone call from my son on Wednesday asking if there was going to be a visit. We were going to say no until my mother asked why he sounded sad and he said his tablet was taken away “forever.” Turns out last week he kicked L, his adoptive mom, multiple times.
Now, my kid is tall and scrawny, yes, but I’ve been kicked by him in recent months while we’ve goofed around and let me tell you, he’s got a hard kick just goofing around. I don’t want to know how much L hurt after he kicked her on purpose. But either way, this was after two weeks of not seeing us, I think. This is not a good sign. We took the last $230 we had and got a room at the Motel 6 we usually go to since the rooms are bigger, the beds are more comfortable and bigger and the wi-fi is free. We have the room from tomorrow afternoon to Monday morning.
And then? We’ve got nothing.
We have a tiny bit of food right now, but not enough for the weekend for all three of us (my kid has literally gone through an entire loaf of bread in one weekend having peanut butter sandwiches when we’ve been low on food). We also still need to get the car smogged/registered as well as pay the storage units. The smogging/registering is going to be $250, the units will be $492 until the 12th.
Part of the reason we stayed so long is apparently, I may have had the flu the last week and a half (I talked to my rheumatologist today and a bunch of my recent problems could be explained by a mild case of the flu since I got my shot super early in the season) and today didn’t help with carrying out stuff to the car, doing a load of laundry, plus being a Good Samaratin and helping an older woman get a wheelchair out of the car, get her roommate out of their car and into his wheelchair since she wasn’t strong enough (I’m not in the best of shape and fuck, my back hurts now, but I couldn’t stand by while every male in the area ignored her). I also finally was able to make three appointments I desperately needed (an OB/GYN check-up, an appointment with my GP to talk about the fibromyalgia diagnosis and treatment for that, and an optometry appointment to get a new glasses prescription) so hopefully my health and pain level will improve between today and the 20th, when the last appointment is.
On the housing front, we called the housing office for the low-income housing again and left a message this afternoon so we may hear something tomorrow. At my doctor’s appointment tomorrow I’m going to see if there’s any resources at my clinic that I can take advantage of (they have social services there) and then follow up with that if I get anything.
But yes, this is where everything stands now. If anyone can help with getting the two set expenses taken car of, or food for this weekend, we’ll try and get the storage unit taken care of first so we can keep all our stuff and then the car.
