Rand Paul’s tax plan is the best for all Americans.
Rand Paul to Media: “What Do You Want Me to Do, Set Myself on Fire?”
Citing the lack of positive coverage from the media, Rand Paul asked what he needed to do for the media to actually fairly cover his campaign.
Written by Colin Campbell for Business Insider:
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) argued that Wednesday that the presidential race polls will eventually “normalize” and place him in a good place to win the Republican nomination.
Speaking on Fox Business’ “Kennedy,” Paul also predicted that front-runner Donald Trump would ultimately see his bubble pop.
“The polls are very much distorted by celebrity right now. And when the celebrity begins to wear off and as that celebrity seem to put a foot in his mouth every other day, I think what’ll happen is the polls are going to normalize,” Paul said.
Paul started off the 2016 race as one of the most prominent candidates in the field, but he has sunk in the polls in recent weeks. The latest RealClearPolitics poll average has Paul with just 2.3% of the GOP vote among a crowded group of candidates — placing him behind nine other GOP contenders.
“Kennedy” host Lisa Montgomery pressed Paul on how he would cut through the noise of “candidates with big personalities and anti-liberty messages.”
“It’s going to sort itself over time. I mean, we’re in it for the long haul,” Paul said.
“That’s not a confidence-boosting answer,” Montgomery interjected.
“What do you want me to do, set myself on fire? I mean, we are doing what we have to do to get the message out,” Paul replied, touting his support among younger voters who he said are being undercounted in the polls. “We think that the numbers are actually much higher than represented.”
Paul actually has set things on fire to grab attention in the past. In July, he literally destroyed thousands of pages of paper that represented US tax code using a chainsaw, a wood chipper, and fire, in order to highlight his tax-reform proposal.
He also said on"Kennedy" Wednesday that he’s seeing a surge of support on the campaign trail despite what’s reflected in polls.
“We haven’t seen the movement in the polls but we can feel it everywhere we go,” he said. “If I didn’t turn my computer on and look at the stories that aren’t always so favorable, I would have no idea from traveling on the road that we aren’t doing great.”
Rand Paul Ranked Most Conservative 2016 Candidate
With the mainstream media falsely calling him a liberal Republican, it’s crucial we spread the truth - Rand Paul is the most consistently conservative candidate.
From Western Journalism:
A new startup ranks potential 2016 presidential candidates as the most conservative and the most liberal based on their donors, what they have said, and their issue positions. The startup ranks Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky. as the most conservative and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., as the most liberal.
Crowdpac was founded by researchers at Stanford University. Their mission is to categorize candidates based on these publicly available criteria: money, speech (what the candidates actually say), and voting history. From their site:
In analyzing the patterns of who gives to whom, our data model is able to make inferences about the issue positions of both candidates and donors. Additional information on candidates’ personal contributions made to other campaigns are incorporated to improve the model’s predictions.
“To calculate scores on specific issues for incumbent candidates, we use congressional voting records,” the group adds. “For non-incumbent candidates with no voting record, we compare their donors with the donors of incumbents.”
The scale is rated left to right – 10L to 10C – with moderates receiving a zero in the middle. Paul is the most conservative with a score of 10+C, followed by Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, with 9.7C. Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin scored a 7.8C, followed by former Governors Rick Perry of Texas and Mike Huckabee of Arkansas with 6.9C and 6.2C, respectively.
Former Governors Jeb Bush of Florida and Jon Huntsman of Utah are towards the moderate end of Crowdpac’s scale, scoring 4.2C and 3.0C. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie received a 2.5C
Sanders is the most liberal with 8.3L. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., was close behind with 8.2L, though Warren recently stated she will not seek the Democratic nomination in 2016. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton scored a 6.4L, while former Governor Martin O’Malley received a 5.3L. Vice President Joe Biden scored a 4.4L.
It’s pretty fucked up that Ayn Rand doesn’t get recognition for being a powerful feminist figure just because she had a rightist government and social philosophy. She moved to America in the 1920’s to free herself from the clutches of government-heavy Russia and made it her life goal to warn the United States of what will happen if the country continues with it’s collectivist philosophies. She published her novel The Fountainhead in 1943 and published her most famous novel Atlas Shruggedin 1957, the year when most other women where busy fulfilling the role of the perfect homemaker. While other women cleaned, cooked, and cut their husbands’ toenails, Ayn Rand ferociously documented her philosophies in the form of a fictional novel with the goal of impacting the course of American government. Say what you want about her rightist philosophies, but she was a powerful woman. I hope to be that strong.
Obama is a liar, traitor, and a failure, among many other things
Person: Define capitalism?
Me: Throwing food away because there is no money to pay for it.
Libertarian: No, that's statism
Check out Robert’s story about his fight for free speech on campus.
Anti-discrimination laws help keep bigots and racists in business. Business owners should be able to discriminate against blacks, gays, mexicans, whites, quadriplegics, etc. At least that way you know where not to shop. That’s why I don’t get it when people use the…
I’m an anarchist, not a statist.
What kind of anarchist are you? As an anarchist you should approve of the use of aggression by the State to pass anti-discrimination laws. They restrict our freedom to interact with whoever we want. Those who are racist, homophobic, etc will get punished by the free market as consumers will simply choose to not buy their products!
Gotta love ancaps. Criticizing corporate rights is automatically conflated into statism, because ancaps don’t care about abolishing all hierarchies, just government regulation of the market.
the free market is anti-hierarchical
