Caregiver! HCQ Headcanons ࣪ ˖⋆˚★ ₊ ⊹ ࣪ Featuring: (Lieutenant!) Jing Yuan, Yingxing, Dan Feng, Baiheng, and Jingliu 𖹭
a/n these drabbles are written to be gender neutral and pretty vague for a first writing post! A lot of them contain bedtime hc's because those are my favorite. 𐔌՞. .՞𐦯
景元 | Jing Yuan — Sleepy Littles
Regardless of his relatively youthful age and supposed surplus of responsibilities, this lieutenant can still fall asleep anywhere, anytime! Many of the other Cloud Knights like to compare him to a snoozing kitten, which, to be frank, isn't an entierly unfounded observation...
But all that gossip only proves that he would be the absolute best caregiver when it came to bedtime routines. He'd take extra time to brush and braid your hair (if it were long enough), collecting all your plushies and favorite blankets and piling them right on the bed. Cuddles and warm milk would always be offered too, of course! He's always very open when it comes to whatever you may need to get some well-deserved rest.
And if his little is feeling fussy about naps? That's okay! Jing Yuan would love to challenge his little one to a game of chess or checkers, if that's easier, and would play very easy on you. To him, these games aren't about winning or loosing as much as they were about spending time with you, and he was always willing to get a little extra silly if it meant seeing his baby smile!
迎姓 | Yingxing — 'Big' Littles
As a licensed (and rather famous) craftsman, Yingxing is very used to making a whole bunch of complicated things. For you, however, he'd avoid making anything overly dangerous... how would a couple toys do? Depending on how small you feel at any given point in time, he could make you basically anything! From small wooden carvings of sparrows and foxes to little wind up soldiers that toddled back and forth— he wouldn't mind spending a good portion of his evenings making you some special gifts.
Yingxing is also pretty great with older littles that end up feeling closer to being a teen than a toddler. He would just adore doing more 'mature' activites with his kiddo! Long talks over meals, wandering the forge, exploring the market stalls... even teaching you all about boring 'adult' skills, like finance and cooking. His favorite offer (of course) would be teaching you how to carve. It would just be with wood at first, since carving into stone, marble, or steel would be way too hard for a beginner, and he'd show you very patiently how to make bowls and spoons and little animal figurines.
And there's no pressure! He is very careful with his kiddo, no matter how big they feel. Due to his proficiency, you can also ask him anything! Never feel embarrassed for 'bothering' him. Yingxing loves each minute he gets to spend with you, knowing that you don't have to be coddled to feel just as loved.
丹枫 | Dan Feng — Quiet Littles
The esteemed High Elder specializes in taking care of sheepish littles who prefer quiet time over anything excessive or strenuous. His life is already full of busywork... so a trip to the local springs may serve as a pleasant retreat. All Vidyadhara are very strong swimmers, and shy littles would have nothing to fear in water so clear and clean, especially since he would be very sure to prohibit any unwanted visitors from appearing while you two were there! Your comfort is his utmost priority, and nothing was truly considered impossible when it came to his little treasure.
When not out on the occasional field trip, you'll almost exclusively watch documentaries, specifically the old historical ones (that are child-appropriate, of course) or the dramatic animal ones. He likes both and is 110% down for binging a couple as you wind down.
And don't forget that he's a child of the Permanence under all those silks! He would love building forts and big nests to cuddle in, keeping you warm and snuggled up in a sea of fine linens and luscious fabrics all throughout the night.
(P.S. his horns and tail glow like nightlights! He'd let you cuddle close and explore them if you're particularly polite and very gentle.)
败亨 | Baiheng — Playful Littles
Whenever you start feeling a bit small, ace pilot Baiheng will always make time for you. She's just a really great mama! And she would simply adore playing all sorts of games with her little.
Generally speaking, she prefers staying a bit more active when it comes to watching over you. Adventure is always key with her! Hide and Seek? Throw and Catch? Card or board games? She would be up for anything and everything, whenever and where ever!
And if her baby isn't feeling particularly competitive, she'd love to color with them instead! Calm, relaxing tummy-time can be just as enjoyable with a bit of planning. She'd also take extra care to organize some bigger trips in advance, if you'd be interested. A long, casual ride around the Xianzhou could be arranged for her darling kiddo (as well as a faster one if she happens to have a bit of a daredevil in her passenger seat).
Storytime would also never disappoint. Baiheng has millions to tell, some from the Luofu, some from the Express... oh, and she'd love to show you photos too! Exchanging memories is very important to her, so be sure to come with stories of your own to share!
镜流 | Jingliu — Curious Littles
While a bit more reclusive than her Foxian counterpart, Jingliu has had a lot of experience with raising her own fair share of wayward apprentices. What's one more little one to look after?
She would love teaching you things. Even if she wasn't the best at communicating freely, you would definitely be in very safe, capable hands.
And, if you're feeling particularly antsy, she wouldn't mind taking you around the markets during the slower hours, wandering from stall to stall and being very careful to avoid any crowds or bright areas. She would be very patient, letting you explore, and imparting any facts or tidbits she could on whatever sights you seemed curious about. After all, she's been on the Xianzhou for centuries! Jingliu would know the ins-and-outs of everything— so feel free to ask her as many questions as you want!
(And, if you're good, she would not mind sparing a few extra credits to buy you a few items while you're out. Make sure to put all your souvenirs somewhere special!)
