“Oh blimey, I don’t think I ever want kids..” She scowled, scratching her head a little. “That sounds like my worst nightmare..”
Beth stepped up to the stage, downing the drink in her hand and putting it down simply to pick up the mic. “How we all doing tonight?” She asked, receiving a small cheer from the crowd. “I’m Beth, and this is a new one.. It’s Motions..” She swallowed hard, the music beginning, she tapped her foot along to the beat before bringing the mic back up to her lips she took a deep breath and began to sing.
“If I showed you to my river Would you take me to the ocean? When I'm tryin' to get myself straight We're still going through the motions Hold me with emotion Till my cup runs over Don't sink in deep Cause we're going through the motions And I don't know what I'm looking for And you have said all that a million shores And we can find what we're searching for Even if we're not that sure Hope we open every door.”
She swallowed hard as she finished the first verse and chorus before delving into the following verse, the lights shining bright down on her, as she felt a bead of sweat fall down her forehead. She finished the remainder of the song, following it by another crowd favourite. Halfway through she noticed them enter, shooting a smile and a nod in their direction. When she finished the song she announced into the microphone she would be back in ten minutes, putting it down and heading in the person’s direction. “Hey you! I was starting to think you’d be a no show...I’m glad you made it. This round’s on me.”

Declan laughed as she spoke. “I have never been more jealous, I’ve been up for like 48 hours,” he said before shaking his head and grabbing some milk from the fridge for his coffee. “It’s been alright, no surgeries scheduled today so mostly paperwork and meetings which I hate. I feel like I’m gonna fall asleep in all of them.” He smiled as he finished putting away the groceries and started on making them some sandwiches and salad. “I tried to buy some healthy stuff because I’ve been slacking but you’re not allowed to get on me for the box of cookies I also bought.” He looked over at her and smiled. “Got anything planned for today?”
Beth shrugged, a smile present in her lips “some of us are just the lucky ones I suppose..” She walked over to the sink, grabbing a clean cup and filling it with water before turning around and watching Declan. “Ugh, sounds boring” she stated scoffing at the idea of it. “I can see you’re needing a pick me up” she laughed, gesturing her glass of water toward his coffee mug. She pushed herself up onto the counter watching him as he started making lunch, “Oh I won’t hassle you about it, maybe I should just eat them so you can keep on keeping on with your healthiness. My metabolism is still going good, I’m young ya’know.. Unlike some of us...” She teased. “Nah, not really. I think I have another song up my sleeve, but we’ll see. Might head down to the studio and lay some more tracks.. How about you?”

“I’m sorry, this book is just—” Therese shook her head, but an amused smile formed on her lips regardless. She was fully aware that she was blushing, but she couldn’t help but turn over to the next page. “—who would do that to an innocent peach?”
“I’m not much of a reader..” she admitted looking over at the girl next to her. “Particularly books about fruit, you do make it sound interesting though.. What did they do to the innocent peach?”

“Oh she is just adorable” Beth exclaimed fawning over the small puppy. “Does that mean I can’t pet her?” She asked looking at the boy with a hopeful look.

“Okay, I think I got everything on the list,” Declan said as he walked into the apartment, arms full of grocers as he walked over to the counter to set them down. “If I forgot something I’ll get it on my way home,” he said with a smile as he turned to her. “How’s your day been? You hungry? I was gonna make lunch.”

Beth came out of the bathroom, toothbrush in hand as she heard someone walk in the door. “Oh hey” she said with a small wave as she saw it was Declan. “Hang on,” she ducked back into the bathroom. finishing up with her teeth and coming back out hands free. “I may or may not have only just got up..” she admitted turning her head toward the clock. “I’m up for lunch, how’s your day been?”

“heck yeah there is!” he exclaims proudly, a fierce fiery determination dancing in his eyes. “you’re so capable is damn near sinful! if i don’t see your name all over headlines in a few years i’m calling schemes!”
Beth started laughing, “LA here I come! Hmm, or broadway here I come?” She said looking up as if to ponder the question.

“I didn’t. I’ve been told I missed out on a lot of childhood for never watching it, but I just…didn’t. My cousins are all a lot older, so I wanted to be like the big kids.”
“I never did understand that.. Wanting to be like the big kids.. Being a small one was such fun.”

before he continues, he hands the other one of the shooters beside him. “it’s tasty, at least. and hey –– why can’t you do both? get a … a, uh…” he pauses, “what do they call those things? … oh –– an EGOT!”
Bethany took the shooter, taking a swig of it and smiling. “You’re right! Why can’t I do both?” She said her smile growing. “There is a future EGOT with my name written all over it!”

“that story sounds awfully familiar …” he murmurs, squinting as he pretends to contemplate the reference. “but you’re playing the role very well. i salute you,” he says, granting the other a series of tiny applause. “i’ll allow it,” gus shifts a bit in his seat to give the other more room. “would you care to partake in troll beer?”
“Well that’s interesting. Maybe I should quit the music business and try for the acting business..” Beth smiled, taking a seat next to the man. “How could I say no to that tempting offer?”

“I thought so. So, you know… that thing that lives in the garbage can? I’m Andrew.” He couldn’t help but laugh a little. “Okay, you got me. I don’t know. You’re talking to someone who gets maybe an average five hours of sleep at night. I live off coffee and energy drinks. Clearly I don’t fit into the outstanding category, Sleeping Beauty.” A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips, teasing her.
“Bethany” she said extending his hand out towards him. “That’s just crazy, I would honestly be a walking zombie. Oh man, I drink neither. Maybe I really am outstanding...”

“Well no, but they have suggested I sleep less. A suggestion I refuse to take if I’m being honest” Beth said matter-of-factly. “Oh why thank you, the only time one would take looking like a pig a compliment..”
