and whilst russel finished up working in his garden for the day, martha continued the afternoon of cuddles with simon on the sofa.

and of course once all the jobs are done, the animals (and martha) get plenty of cuddles for all their hard work. 

ooh, and consider this an introduction to our lovely cow: charlotte, who is just about the most demure lady to ever grace henford on bagley.

okay, why am i unironically obsessed with hsmtmts? like i genuinely feel a bit empty now that season two is over. and i had that feeling all day where i didn’t even want to watch the episode because wasn’t ready to accept that it was the last one of the series - which has to be a sign of some sort of unhealthy attachment, right? 

ugh, i blame it on them doing beauty and the beast; i’m such a sucker for alan menken musicals 😓

anyway, all i’m saying is that i will be incredibly sad if they don’t do a third season. it just brings me so much joy and i don’t even know why lmao. it’s just such a fun show! i love it! :’)

but once alexandra and robin headed home, martha got to work tending to her beloved animals for the day.

and whilst russel and simon were out on their walk, martha had a little chat with the neighbours: alexandra (a shy little gardening whiz) and her (much chattier, wannabe-baker) girlfriend, robin, who was kind enough to bring over a piece of her most recent attempt at a fruit cake.

taking your best pal out on a walk around the village is the best way to start your morning - at least it is in russel’s opinion anyway.

martha may be the animal enthusiast, but russel has his own little collection creatures to look after in his garden. he might not know how to milk a cow, but he sure does know how to handle his insects!

and here are the chickens! roger thinks he’s better than everybody else and hannah doesn’t really think at all... but martha loves her anyway, and always cheers when she figures out how to get out of the hen house every day.

when martha started feeding the chickens her and russel’s border collie, simon, ran over to say ‘hi!’.

i thought i’d jump on the bandwagon of posting some of my cottage living gameplay, so here’s my cute little household of newlyweds who just inherited a farm! i feel like i haven’t just played the game for ages, so just chilling with russel, martha and this new pack has been a lot of fun.

I know you tagged me in this forever ago @simgerale but uni has really been stressing me out lately and simblr was one thing on my overflowing plate that just happened to fall off 😅 that and, once things started to calm down a bit, the announcement of this new expansion pack made me want to hold off working on my snow white story because I feel like once I get my hands on it I’ll be giving all the characters and houses a load of makeovers haha. whilst i’m waiting for it to be released though, I thought I’d finally work on my post for this fun little challenge to try to get me back into the swing of things again. so apologies if they look crappy, I’m a bit out of practice! but anyway, this is Duchess Lucine...

“Duchess Lucine is a sim mentioned in the description of the “Moonlit Rose in the Garden” object from The Sims 4: Vampires. She painted these roses in the 17th century and it is said that she only painted by the moonlight. She also despised the sunlit paintings done by her peers.”

so yeah, here’s my interpretation of Duchess! I feel like she lived a pretty lonely life because any of the energy she could have put towards interacting with others she’d much rather have poured into her artwork, but since she came from a rather influential family that wasn’t always achievable. she would grin and bear the many dinner parties she was dragged along to, and would nod her way through endless conversations with stuffy dignitaries who had about as much time for her as she did for them, but she would draw the line when her parents would try to gift her other artists’ paintings. she just detested the things; nothing could even come close to the pieces she would craft, so why should she even have to entertain the idea of appreciating them? hence why she ripped off their frames and just tossed them on the floor of her ‘art studio’ - better known as a near light-less room in a turret of her family’s mansion - at the first opportunity possible, ready to scrub the oil paint away until her knuckles bled and she could start afresh... the right way, this time.

well, since i’m spending my birthday in lockdown and can’t have a proper party with my family/friends, i thought that i’d throw myself one in the sims because…that’s the next best thing, right?!

I’m lame and I haven’t been in game for long enough to get anywhere close to putting a new story post together because uni’s been kicking my arse, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s my bday today! and since I’ve commemorated it every year that I’ve had this blog, I didn’t think that today should be an exception. so even though this is just a lazy reblog, consider it my birthday post of the year and my apology for not getting my shit together enough to put the next post together lol. sorry! I hope you’re all doing well though! 🥳🥰

RQOTD: What is one thing your OC would like to change about themselves?

aaah okay, i’m running out of characters already and we’ve only done two asks lol. 

i think i’ll use our mysterious narrator for this one though, because they are a character in their own right that will appear in the story later. I just don’t want to say who they are just yet because i want to create a bit of speculation (or at least try to lol).

but anyway, i think the narrator would like to change how guarded they are. often times they close themselves so far off from the outside world that they push everyone else away. it’s just really hard for them to open up to people, and because of that most people end up getting frustrated and giving up on them all together. their lack of trust can make them seem pretty abrasive, but in reality they’re just hiding away in a big spiky shell to try to stop themselves from getting hurt again before they’ve been given the chance to heal. 

i know all of that probably seems overkill for a disembodied voice, but trust me on this one. they’re a softy at their core hehe.

RQOTD: If your OC could meet any other fictional character, who do you think they would have an interesting discussion with?

okay, i’m super bad at stuff like this because i have no idea which fictional characters are commonly known. but i’ll try my best! 

i think evelyn (the secretary lady from my last couple of posts if you haven’t read the tags haha) would probably be the best fit for this question, because i feel like she would have a very interesting discussion with villanelle from ‘killing eve’ if given the chance. on a surface level they’re two very different women, which could give them an interesting dynamic to begin with, but if they could get past the initial friction that I’m sure would arise then i think they’d realise that at their cores they have a lot of similarities. whether they’d be able to admit that to one another (or themselves) though is another story! 

i don’t want to get into too many details right now though, because we don’t really know a lot about evelyn yet. but I might revisit this at a later date to expand on my ideas, because you know i love a good ramble!

RQOTD: What is your OCs favorite quote? Or what quote do you associate with them most?

omg i never get asks, especially about story things, so this is rather exciting!

obviously i’m not super far into my snow white story yet, so i don’t really have many characters to choose from, but i think snow’s still a good pick for this one. 

one of her quotes from the disney movie is: “remember, you’re the one who can fill the world with sunshine.” and whilst it’s probably a major cop-out for me to just pick one of her movie quotes, i do think that my version of snow would still really resonate with that. she’s always eager to please people and put out good energy into the world, despite her own sadness, in the hopes that she can positively influence those around her. so i think this is a quote that she could take a lot of comfort from!
