It’s time for the annual collection photo again! I already have plans for more animals to study but now is a good time for the photo. Compare to my collection in 2014 and 2013. Downsized some skulls I no longer needed for study, kept and gained ones that mean more to me and were better quality for anatomy study.

Is the hummingbird protected under the MBTA? My grandparents found one frozen outside, but I don't know how to find out if it is till what to process.

Yes, hummingbirds are protected under the MBTA, so unfortunately you won’t be allowed to keep it’s remains. Here’s the list of birds excluded from the MBTA (the common names also have links to images of the birds):

House Sparrow (Passer domesticus)

European Starling (Sturnus vulgaris)

Domestic Pigeon or Rock Dove (Columba livia)

Monk parakeet (Myiopsitta monachus)

Eurasian Collared Dove (Streptopelia decaocto)

Canada Goose (Branta canadensis)

Some captive-bred birds like mallards.

What are all of the colour mutations of the red fox? Also, what are the rarities of them if you can, and pictures would be extremely helpful, just as examples because I saw a post a while back that named about 15 or so variations but I couldn't find any pictures on the internet :)

- Pearl Cross (dark).

- Sapphire Cross (very rare, no pictures).

Fire Factor mutations.

- Colicott Champagne.

- A German Shepherd Dog lookalike (very rare, identical color to a GSD, tan with black back, white tipped tail). No picture, sadly.

Crested barbet (Trachyphonus vaillantii)

The crested barbet is a sub-Saharan bird in the Lybiidae family. With its thick bill and very colourful plumage the crested barbet is unmistakable. The crested barbet feeds on insects, other birds’ eggs and fruits and sometimes mice. They are found singly or in pairs. They like to bounce around on the ground looking for food, they usually call from a branch out in the open. They do not fly easily and then only for short distances. Crested barbets roost in holes in trees.
