“ DEATH? YOU THINK I’M AFRAID TO DIE?
I’VE SEEN DEATH MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT.
DEATH AND ME? WE’RE BEST FRIENDS. ”
FULL NAME: BENJAMIN THOMAS PARISH
DATE OF BIRTH: MARCH 26th 1996
AFFILIATION: N/A
OCCUPATION: ROOKIE AGENT
To some, Ben was the object of their school-girl (and boy) desires. He had been the Quarterback of his high school football team, he had a smile that lit up an entire room every time it was shown, he was on the honour roll-- Ben was every materialistic parent’s wet dream. At first, he wanted to attend an Ivy League school and study medicine, but the US Police Recruitment strategy managed to grasp his attention much more firmly than a doctor could. Though he took a much needed gap year, Ben’s achievement at an academy just one state over from his childhood home proved that even with a break, he could still stay at the top of his game.
The world appeared to be Ben’s oyster as he got closer to graduation, but he should have known better than to believe things would always remain positive. Two weeks before he was due to finish at the academy, Ben returned home for a weekend visit with his family to inform them of the graduation details. He was excited. He was enjoying his training, and knew his parents were happy for him too. Unfortunately, despite the vigorous training he had been receiving, nothing could have prepared him for what he found when he walked through the front door. What Ben remembers clearly is the amount of blood that covered his house, the rest of it was a fast-moving blur. His family were good people. His parents had been just a bit above middle class, and his siblings were well-spoken, respectful kids. To discover that they had all been murdered caused incredible amounts of confusion in the male. To this day, Ben still tries to work through a list of reasons that anyone could have wanted to harm his family. He comes up short every time, leading him to believe that their killer was just a psychotic bastard.
Their deaths ignited a fire that sent Ben into a frenzy. To avenge them, and capture their killer was his motivation to finish at the academy, but the academy was smarter than to allow him to work on the team in his hometown. Before any team could allow Ben to work for them, he had to go through therapy to deal with his grief and trauma effectively but it didn’t change his desire to at least discover who it was that had done such a thing in the first place. It took a few months before the therapist was satisfied that Ben was safe enough to be working as a policeman, but once he was deemed safe, he was assigned to an organized crime FBI task force in New York City. Though their task is to take back the city from the syndicates that have caused enough trouble as it is, Ben is still dead-set on solving the crime of his family’s murder.
