The Smile Room || closed
âHmmm that was newâ The Priest thought to himself at Jennaâs behavior.
Normally people had to snap themselves out of looking at him in a less than 'holyâ way. Â But that was the whole point of picking such an attractive guise; it tempted many without them even stopping to remember how beautiful Lucifer was. Â Not that he could complete with the Desolate One himself, but the Priest held his own without problems. Â
Enough of appreciating the obvious. It was time to get back to what had just taken place before his very eyes; or rather Jennaâs. She seemed as if sheâd seen something that wasnât quite right. This was not exactly unusual when visiting these places but Gerard didnât appreciate one of his colleagues making faces at him behind his back without his knowledge. Â But there was truly only the two of them in the room with the sickening shade. Â The only 'smileâ that came from this place had probably actually been a grimace; no one in their right mind smiled here.
âIs everything alright?â Gerard asked with a slight raise of his brow as he drew back from her feigning concern.
Once heâd had a patient 'black outâ on him before and attempted to injure him unfortunately it was an old rival that had screwed up.  This was different, some did have an honest fear of Priests because of all the black and the things that they say.  Not to mention the ritual of communion sounded like flat out cannibalism. And they said Demons were viciousâŠ
There was a change in the room by Jennaâs behavior, could sheâd been going into some sort of episode before his very eyes? Â No, that wasnât it heâd 'lookedâ at her thoroughly when he first stepped into the room and there was nothing holding onto her from the inside. Â If there had been perhaps it wouldâve been perhaps a carefree exchange between the two. Â That however was not the case with this young woman. Â This was indeed a child before him and that was fine too! Children also can be a bit of fun as well especially since they are for the most part much like a blank canvas. Â It was the fact she was housed here in the Asylum was only a temporary setback. Â
The air had shifted completely in the room, but now it was time for a bit of damage control. Â Not that that was going to be difficult, it was just that Gerard was curious to see exactly what he was dealing with in the young Ms. Masters. Â There was no Demon or other entity living within her so now it was time to be observant and make her comfortable, she would show her hand soon enough.
âWell Jenna,â Gerard began as he sat down in chair that Ms. Mills had once been occupying, âI am here to assist you through a very difficult time-the loss of your parents. Dr. Graham wants you to continue to improve. Â But he has,expressed some concerns that may hinder your progress. Â He felt that I would be able to help you in the healing of your soul by the way of faith as that is a very important route as well. My being here will help you strengthen yourself to ward off any Demon your mind conjures up.â
Self-doubt was a fine weapon to use against one so young, as well as that little bit of disconnect he noted previously. Â She was seeing something the question now was how could he add to the horror of it all?
Jenna gave him his time to speak, and she listened carefully to each word that fell from the priests lips before she seemed to tune him out at a certain point. Of course, he was just like all the others. He wouldnât believe her, no matter what she told him.Â
âFunny, you say you want to heal me through faith, which tells me you Father, are a man that believes in both good and evil, yes?â Jenna questioned, tired brown eyes searching him over for any sign ofwhat sheâd seen before, though at the moment there was nothing.Â
âIf thatâs true, and you believe in both good and evil, then tell me why it is that men can believe in good manifesting before them, but those that claim to see evil being manifested are locked away in places like this one to rot.â In all honesty, this hadnever made sense to her young mind. All she wnted wasto go hometo her grandfather and forget the whole ordeal, but they made her relive it. Day by day they fed her a lie over and over, expecting her to changethe way she remembered that night. They wanted herto believe it was her... that he was the monster, but Jenna knew better.Â
She hadnât killed her parents,Â
She hadnât.Â
âPlease, I know what Dr. Grahm says. He says Iâm dangerous, that I was the one that killed my mommy and daddy. But Father, I didnât. I love them...Iâve always loved them. These demons arenât just something my mind conjures up out of the blue. Iâm telling you, theyâre real.â
Perhaps she was speaking too hasty. After all, he had meant figurative demons, but what the hell? They wanted her to talk, so talk she would. It wouldnât be like last time. When sheâd first come in and been introduced to Dr. Grahm, sheâd stayed quiet for three days, and finally caved once they began pulling her remaining baby teeth from her mouth one by one until she screamed in agony. She refused to ever be accused of not cooperating again.
