DETESTABLE. It was their existence that had caused the world to rot, and the putrid stench of their sins suffocated him. Misusing their quirks, and now harassing a poor woman? They truly were the worst kind. He’d left his life of villainy behind him, wanted to exist for a greater purpose than to destroy things (something he once took pleasure in at one point in his life). He wanted to watch the world thrive now. But in order to do that, the weeds needed to be pulled from the earth they attempted to sully.
They were petty criminals. Most of them were anymore… it was rare he ever met face to face with a truly formidable criminal. Compared to who he once was, they were all child’s play… and he was UNTOUCHABLE. Like a shadow. And like a shadow, he tried to make his presence scarce… only igniting enough fear to let society know that he was always lurking. Waiting. Watching. And he would strike silently, and viciously before slipping back into the quiet darkness.
He didn’t want to be seen.
But it was a little late for that now.
Once the criminals had been handled and tied up for the authorities to find, he made a quick glance towards the petite lady. He almost flinched away when she reached out for him, but he stilled himself. She meant him no harm, and his face was still hidden… Identity kept a well-guarded SECRET. It wasn’t until she made a comment about him being injured that his eyes trailed down his arm to see a rather nasty looking gash (though not the worse he’d received. It was pretty mild in comparison) through the torn and blood-stained material.
She was inviting him to her home?
“…Inviting someone you don’t know into your home isn’t very safe. How do you know I’m not a bad guy? You don’t even know my name, let alone my face.”
he was definitely cautious, that was for sure. he could feel the slight shake that his arm gave when she brushed against it. as if he was wanting to jerk away, but had quelled the urge deep within himself.
it was a feeling and movement of someone that had been hurt, and she couldn’t help but feel pity licking at the inside of her throat and at the edges of her eyes like a flame to a single piece of bark.
the question came as a shock, before she smiled.
❝ i’m a fairly good judge of character ... you saved me. if you wanted to hurt me, you wouldn’t have saved me. you would have let those men hurt me, and then kept walking. you stepped up when i needed you. i think that’s enough to say that you are not a bad guy. ❞
fingers brush at the injured arm, careful.
❝ though, i can tell that you aren’t a hero, or else you wouldn’t have to save people in the dark and masked ... i suppose that means that you can’t go to a normal hospital, or something like that. i won’t ask any questions, but i do want to make sure that you are alright. ❞
she smiles slightly at the masked man, ❝ well, i may not know your name or your face, but i do know your actions. your actions are enough to trust you into my home. i’ll lead the way, and you don’t have to stay for dinner if you do not wish. i just want to make sure that you’re alright. ❞
