Oh, Liz. The younger Lizzie that lived in the pages of this blog… I just want to hug you and tell you that it really turns out okay.
Spent awhile scrolling back through my posts & I was just so desperate to *feel* something & be accepted & lose weight. I cringed so many times at the things I wrote and all.the.whining. We had valid complaints and issues about things that we were not mature enough, or maybe didn’t have the space to have proper perspective of - we thought some of these things were normal when maybe we should not have accepted them. I don’t know. Being a human is a weird experience. It’s cool, but complicated.
I’m happy to say that things are okay. I actually weigh more now than I ever did in the 12 years of this blog but I am much, much more at peace with my body, life, and the universe.
Little Lizzie, We did most of the things that you yearned for.
We have an extremely loving husband who we adore and adores us
A spunky goldendoodle ball of fluff that brings us more joy than we could have ever imagined
We bought a house (on. our. own.) and have spilled gallons of blood, sweat, and tears into it making it into everything we ever wanted
We have a pretty secure job that pays us more than enough money to live our life in anyway we want. We like our job for the most part and the people we work with are fun. It’s a good match.
We established some boundaries with those we love to protect our heart. We don’t let the fear of upsetting others at the cost our our peace of mind anymore, and we certainly don’t let others speak to us in ways that are hurtful.
We learned that no is a full sentence.
I am sad to tell you that we still think about weight every single hour of every single day. But we don’t feel the devastation of not being thin like we used to. We don’t exactly enjoy our body, but we have made peace with it. We are still trying over and over and are making good decisions about the future of our health. We don’t by any means have it all figured out and deal with quite a bit of anxiety, especially around anything that we cannot be certain about, but for the most part things are ~good~ and we have a nice life.
Onward and upward.
