I've always wanted to walk into a restaurant or bar or cafe and say, "The usual," and see the cashier or bartender person wink and say, "Coming right up," because they know what my favorite thing is to get because I've been coming here every Tuesday and Friday for years and I know the owner and the cooks and the waitresses and it's become like another home to me, this food place

Every time I come across this life hack the following conversation runs through my head: Sokka: what about the time I had two egg shells in my omelet??? Aang: two egg shells? Katara: he tried to get the first egg shell out with another egg shell

life hack for nearly-empty shampoo/conditioner bottles: fasten the bottle to a ceiling fan and turn the fan to maximum speed

the centrifugal force will force the liquid to the top of the bottle

or the bottom, if you tied the bottle to the fan backward

why do I feel like the only intelligent person here?

My sister to me while I am driving one-handed in the rain: you shouldn't drive with one hand in this weather.

Me: *takes both hands off wheel*

me: *finds brand new dry erase markers left uncapped and completely dried out*

me: the memorial service will be held on tuesday

*puts in deodorant for Skype meeting*

I ain't takin' no chances

I love meeting new ESL students.

They walk into the classroom for the first time and look around for the teacher and I smile and shake hands with them and introduce myself, and sometimes they're like "Cool, you're young and energetic, you'll make a great teacher."

And then sometimes they pause and look a little dubious, like "You're the teacher? You're young enough to be my granddaughter. Are you sure I shouldn't be the one teaching you?"

But no matter what their first impressions are, we have a bomb English learning session and they walk out of class at the end waving and calling me Teacher and I love it and I love them and if you ever get the opportunity to teach your mother tongue to a roomful of fascinating people from across the world, you should not pass it up.
