I was talking about (more like arguing) the origin of human subjugation of their fellow humans. When I say itâs obviously natural people get really mad. But unless you believe in aliens, mystical forces, God, or that only some people are born evil for some reason and teach others to be evil (itâs a dumb theory. you could say evil people are born at random, or a certain race is evil I guess. But itâs just a dum explanation in all honesty) , the only explanation is that humans are naturally inclined to oppressing others.
One theory people, everyone, even feminists, love to say is that humans were peaceful until the conception of property ownership. This theory is also kind of nonsensical honestly and undermines male on female oppression and violence. It is dumb because for one male on female oppression predates written history, and also we were animals once and our instincts influence our behavior. Look at other intelligent species. Other primates, dolphins. They rape the females of their species, keep harems of them, kill other males and the babies of other males. For 1000s of years human males have don exactly this even in extremely civilized societies.
Not only that, but if it were not natural, how did the concept of property ownership even become a thing? Because humans made it. âItâs not naturalâ then where in the world did we learn it?
Even ignoring that, many will argue that it is not instincts but âpowerâ that corrupts people. In any situation ever, whether we are as intelligent as we are now, or whether we are living naked in caves, there will always be someone smarter, stronger, more fit, having something that puts them above others. There will always be a power imbalance between creatures in any situation. So if the natural response to this is to subjugate the weaker people, is that not a natural human behavior?
Genuinely unless you want to make up some weird non-natural non-earthly force that did this, youâre only left with the ability to just say âwhite people are the only evil ones everyone else is normalâ (which if you think this Iâm not offended lol) but itâs still flawed based on the fact oppressive patriarchal societies are present literally everywhere all on their own. Even so called âegalitarianâ societies leave women out and are usually determined by whoever has the most power (intelligence, strength).
I believe we are self aware and have the free will to choose against subjugating and hurting others, but the origin of why society is like this is obvious and nobody had ever been able to give me a different explanation that isnât just nonsense. I think people donât like the idea that it is natural because it makes them feel hopeless. We have the ability to change anyways, so I donât think people should be bothered that much by it.
Anyways, another thing I began thinking about, is the fact that a big thing that supposedly separates us from animals is that we have morals and they donât. I was reading the story of Adam and Eve and I was thinking, wow this is an amazing story to represent how humans developed self awareness. That self awareness is what makes us able to be evil. When animals kill other animals they donât know itâs bad so they canât be good or evil. When we hurt others we know itâs not right because it hurts them so we are above animals or something.
I was thinking though, is that really true?
When baby cats play with each other, sometimes they are too rough. The other baby cat retaliates by hurting them back, and then the kitties know not to play in a way that hurts each other. Is this not the definition of empathy? Anyways, if they know what pain is, and they can understand that it is not right to hurt others, how far are we really from animals? When male chimpanzees attack female chimpanzees, they know they are hurting the female. Surely they know how pain feels. They do it because they know it will result in the female becoming sexually submissive. Iâm genuinely not saying I think Chimpanzees are evil, but they must know it causes harm which is why they do it, to get what they want. Do humans typically cause harm for the sake of harm? There is usually a desire within that as well. So really, how far are we from animals in that case? Idk itâs interesting and Iâve never seen anyone else tall about it.
