Literature gives us an internal compass, a way to negotiate all life’s rough and tumble. It gives us insight, empathy, direction and warning. It is a concordance for the physical world, a magnificent prism through which reality is refracted. Much loved passages whisper in our ears. Long-dead authors hold us by the hand. Half-forgotten poems fill our mouths. Literature is present at the birth of our first child and the ordering of our morning coffee. It fills us. What is the alternative? A life without literature would be one unmoored.

i peed a little when i looked at these pictures
Goodness. They look like heaven.
A book is the only place in which you can examine a fragile thought without breaking it, or explore an explosive idea without fear it will go off in your face. It is one of the few havens remaining where a man’s mind can get both provocation and privacy.

Look at This Cat of the Day
Meet Sam, an adorable white cat with eyebrow markings on his forehead! Just in the past month, Sam has gained more than 10,000 followers on Instagram, thus making him the latest feline sensation to take the baton from Grumpy Cat.
Oh well
I opened a book and in I strode. Now nobody can find me. I’ve left my chair, my house, my road, My town and my world behind me. I’m wearing the cloak, I’ve slipped on the ring, I’ve swallowed the magic potion. I’ve fought with a dragon, dined with a king, And swam in a bottomless ocean. I opened a book and made some friends. I shared their tears and laughter And followed their roads with its bumps and bends To the happily ever after. I finished my book and out I came. The cloak can no longer hide me. My chair and my house are just the same, But I have a book inside me.

The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes.
The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle (via lostinthesounds)
Most men and women lead lives at the worst so painful, at the best so monotonous, poor and limited that the urge to escape, the longing to transcend themselves if only for a few moments, is and has always been one of the principal appetites of the soul.

Every time you ask for a level 9 or under Zekrom/Reshiram/Kyurem for your Magikarp/Magnemite/Anything, you make Azurill sad.
I love the GTS, but my god.
(Also, why did they make the Azurill sprite sad?! Every time I defeat one I feel like THE WORST PERSON EVER.)
