Historical Princess Series: Belle (Disney-inspired)
A Tale as Old as Time... 🥀
They say you should save the best for last, but I couldn't resist. My beloved, wonderful Belle. My absolute favorite princess. Back in childhood, I constantly rewatched this movie, I had it on VHS (oooh, she's old 😅).
Everything in the movie points to the 18th century, so I chose the Rococo era. That means the dress doesn't look exactly like the original, but it fits the historical vibe perfectly! Rococo gave me the perfect excuse to add an unreasonable amount of lace, bows, pearls, floral details, and decorative trims. If a dress can still physically move, clearly it needs more decoration.
I also decided not to give Belle one of those enormous powdered hair towers. She's dreamy and romantic, yes, but she never struck me as someone who would completely lose her head (no pun intended) at the sight of a ballroom. So her hairstyle is still elegant, just a little more grounded.
And there are 2 yellow swatches here: the first one is close to the canonical yellow-gold. The second one is the famous Rococo shade Caca d'Oie (yes, literally "goose poop" color. Fashion history is a beautiful place 😂). Imagine walking into an atelier and confidently announcing: "I want a gown in the color of..."
Also, there is a tight corset. Thankfully our digital girlies can rock any silhouette without discomfort.
