LEAH.
Leah needed a moment. Everything was stifling. The interviews, the endless threats, the questioning of her qualifications. Turning off her phone she dipped it into the pocket of her winter coat, grabbed her guilty pleasure, a pack of Marlboros and headed down to the monuments. There was no denying the magic feeling DC had, and, especially at night when all the monuments were lit up. Sheād worked so hard and accomplished so much to be where she was. Though all of that was under scrutiny due to her relationship with Giorgia. She was no longer part of their family. The naked ring finger told that story without her having to say anything. Tugging on a winter cap and scarf she hoped sheād go unnoticed. Stopping off to get a hot toddie disguised as a coffee she made her way to the steps of the Lincoln memorial. She liked to think there. Taking a sip of her drink she tugged out the cigarettes and lit one. With any luck someone would snap a picture of this. Secretary of Education Adams enjoying a smoke with another assassinatedĀ president. Lost in thought she didnāt hear the person coming down the steps.Ā āI know, I know, no smoking Iāll put it out,ā she waved her hand off assuming it was a parks ranger. Glancing up she offered a slight smile,Ā āThis is justā¦the only place I can really clear my head, you know?ā
Lila couldnāt remember a time where she felt as unaccomplished as she did in the current moment. Her job was gone and she had never crafted any bridges to burn in the first place. Her disconnect from everyone made her feel like she was useless, a feeling that Lila hated more than anything in the world. So, she went to the one place she always felt like she faded away in D.C. when she went to the tourist destinations, and right now the woman wanted nothing more than to just sit and reflect on the things in her life. As she approached a step, she recognized a familiar face, simply shaking her head at the blonde as she began to speak.Ā āYouāre fine.ā Shaking her head in agreement, she said,Ā āI agree. I go here sometimes too. Itās nicer at night when all the people leave.ā
