Gods and Men - Loki and John
Wait. Rods in her legs. He had dared to place something inside her leg? Instead of feeling only threatened and uncomfortable as she had before, right now she was downright enraged. âWhat did you say you did to me?â While her voice had been soft as usual before, it was now reduced to a low hiss. It was already horrible enough that he had performed surgery on her, but this? Absolutely intolerable.Â
She boldly ignored his question, refusing to give him any more information until whatever it was that heâd put in her leg was gone. Besides, what would she tell him? That she was of Asgard? As soon as anyone heard of that, she would have a serious problem. There were very few Asgardians with dark hair such as her own, and even less of those had actually visited Midgard. And since it was highly unlikely for Sif to destroy the windows of a hospital through willpower only, it would be ridiculously easy to guess her identity thenâŠ
"I said, Miss Lorelai, that there are metal rods holding your bones together while they heal. Otherwise, they will be weak, and might heal with deformities."
The woman was so strangely adverse to modern medicine- or human medicine, at least- that he had no idea what to tell her. She was being downright unreasonable.
Oh absolutely not. Did he honestly expect her to just tolerate that? A part of her was stunned over the fact that a Midgardian doctor (or any doctor, for that matter) would dare to do such a thing to a patient. The rest of her was simply scared and enraged though. "I will take that risk then. Remove that metal this instance or so help me Norns I will have this building crumbling to pieces with you trapped inside."
Loki fully sat up, giving the doctor her most vicious glare. That particular expression had been enough to make several species -including but not limited to the naiads, mermaids and the elfs of Niflheimr- fear her and obey to her orders, so she hoped that it might work on Midgardians as well.
And if not, she supposed she could always try and remove those metal rods herself...
Pardon the Interruption | Typhoon & Loki
"As you wish. Ask your question." She never said sheâd answer it with the truth. But to be honest, the game started to bore her. Sheâd barely managed to obtain any information, while he had plenty by now. Loki definitely did not like to lose. Sheâd lost often enough over the past five thousand years. Her honor, her dignity, her family, everything. The trickster was not sure if there was more to lose, but either way she did not want to test that.
Her plans. Of course. What else would he care for? The truth would suffice for an answer though. âI am not yet sure. But I promise you, as soon as I am, you will be the first to know." What to do? Sheâd escaped prison only hours ago! Of course she hadnât had the time to plan anything. Escaping had been her main concern when in prison, and after that she had really only been focused on finding shelter and a proper Midgardian disguise.
Thinking of a question for him was easy now. âAnd what if the plans I create clash with your own? What would you do then, Agent Blue?" And this was also the last question that would be answered, if it was up to her. Loki would no longer answer his.
Typhoon nodded. Frankly he had everything that he was going to get willingly out of Loki, and there was no way in hell he was going to try diving into her mind without back up. But with telepath ranks thinning, he wasnât likely to get back up of that nature anytime soon and no one seemed to respond to his call earlier, so he was very much on his own.
Which meant it was time to leave as soon as he answered Lokiâs final question, her answer essentially âlay low for now, but youâll see soon enoughâ which was about the best Ty could hope for. She was still struggling with returning to earth, so as long as she laid low, they wouldnât have to worry about it. And she hadnât found out about the rifts, or his powers other than his telekinesis which was a win on his end.
"Well, if your plans clash with ours, then weâll find a way to stop you again." It was the truth, but he knew Loki wasnât going to go down easily, regardless of who had to be the one to take her down. It would probably take both teams this time around, and Ty didnât have much problem with that.
"Now if youâll excuse me, Iâm pretty sure we both know this conversation has been extended far past itâs life value, so Iâll just be on my way." Â He lifted himself off the roof telekinetically, ready in case Loki tried any tricks to stop him. âUnless you have something else that you need to say."
Strategy. It had always been one of her strengths. While most Aesir blindly faced all conflicts by raising their weapons and roaring like savages, Loki preferred to tak some time to think about all possible solutions. Time that she did not have now. The strange Midgardian would leave soon enough, of that she was certain. But the question was, should she let him? He now knew that she had returned, knew where she resided and also knew who to inform of this newly found information.
But on the other hand, SHIELD would find out eventually. Especially if she intended to seek vengeance in one way or another. And wouldn't it be fun to watch them stress around while trying to come up with another plan on how to control the deity of mischief that now wandered around on their planet? Perhaps she would even visit SHIELD in disguise...
Yes, the latter plan was best in her opinion. While being hunted for was not ideal, it did provide her with a great amount of entertainment. "Of course you will. And I wish you all of luck with that." You will need it... Now that she was no longer forced to share her mind with Thanos, linked through the mind gem, she would be unstoppable...
Loki stayed where she was, not even considering to show off another skill of hers for the sole purpose of following him into the air. Was it not better to leave them to guess what she could do? There were no better weapons than hidden ones. "No, I do not, although I do ask that you send my kindest regards to Nicholas." And she would be there to see if he did that, definitely.Â
Lazy days (Loki and Tommy)
"Exactly," she replied, even though she still didnât quite understand the concept of mutants. Perhaps she should look it up in the library later that day⊠"It is hardly your fault that those fools are too dull to fully understand the situation, is it?" Whatever the situation may be.Â
Sif, Thorâs wife? Oh, the humor. âWhy donât you ask him yourself? It is quite an interesting taleâŠâ As far as Loki was concerned, Thor still swooned over that pathetic mortal scientist he had encountered during his banishment. Oh, words could not express just how much she had grown to loathe that woman. âIn all probability, yes. They feared just about any problem that could not be solved through violence.â Including the deity of mischief.Â
A deity of mischief who was very quickly losing her temper. âFor the last time, I am not his mother.â Loki snapped at him, not even pretending to be in a good mood any longer. There were very few things that could anger her this easily, but comments regarding those who were told to be her children never failed to enrage her. Those damned Vikings! She should have set fire to their villages for thisâŠ
The paperwork was forgotten about, and Loki had now fully turned to glare at him. âFor your information, dimwit, I do not have any children, and certainly not those mentioned in the myths. You would do well to remember that.â
The speedster shrugged. âYeahâ he agreed lamely. âI mean, I tried to argue with people for a while but they never understood. Or wanted to understand.â He shrugged and sighed. Some days he was hopeful that things would change for the better, but other days he felt like it was hopeless to try and change anything, because people were so damn stubborn.
Tommy grimaced. âI donât really hang around with the real Avengersâ he admitted. âThey live at the top levels of Stark Tower. I donât go there much.â He supposed he could, if he wanted to. He was a speedster that could vibrate through walls. But heâd rather not be caught and kicked out of SHIELD.
"Touchy" Tommy commented, suppressing a wince. "Does it actually exist, then?" he wondered. "That horse with six legs?" He was pretty sure it were six. Like a spider. He grimaced under her glare, suddenly acutely aware that he might have pissed of a goddess who had destroyed a good chunk of New York. "Loki has no actual kids, noted" he said, holding up his hands in a sign of surrender.
Wait. So he was in a way affiliated with the Avengers? Interesting. Loki carefully stored the information away for later. Later, when she was not feeling like throwing Tommy across the park. How dare he mock her? If this even qualified as mockery, that is. Still, the trickster was starting to feel the carefully suppressed rage coming closer and closer to the surface. Pent up rage from a year spent in prison, and from being the lesser sibling for five thousand years was difficult to let go of. Loki wasn't even sure if she could.
Her right hand slowly curled into a fist, a bit of green magic swirling around her fingertips. It was an excellent way to keep a bit of control over her temper. And it would never be noticed, at least not when she wore her Asgardian dresses with their long sleeves. Just another reason to loathe Midgardian clothing; the sleeves were never long enough to conceal her hands, and thus made it rather difficult for her to keep her usage of magic secret.
She offered him one of her more vicious glares as he dared to call her touchy. There were very few people who got away with that, and this hideous mortal was definitely not among them. "For your information, Speed," condescension was very much audible when she spoke that one word, "He does indeed exist, though he happens to have eight legs instead of six. I suggest you properly do your homework before bothering me with such pointless accusations."
A bit of malice disappeared from both her voice and expression as he seemed to give up. "Indeed I do not. Be a dear and inform any fool who asks that those myths are lies." Though most of the creatures did indeed exist. Loki simply had not been the one to give birth to them...Â
Your family never loved you. Nobody ever will. Nobody ever loves a Frost Giant.
"I..." It took her longer to think of a proper response than she cared to admit.
"I suppose you are correct, greyface. Only one person had ever truly loved me, and that person certainly did not belong to my family. I highly doubt that I am still loved though..."
Loki remained quiet for a while, expression blank as she hid the pain this accusation caused her. "Love is a weakness. I have no need for it."
Nobody would remember you if you died.
"A good evening to you as well, greyface. Have you truly become so desperate to deny your own situation that you start accusing others of it? I have been known on Midgard for almost two thousand years now, and I shall be known for at least another two thousand, if not more. One does not forget a goddess, darling. A greyface, however, a species of which each individual is identical to the other, will be forgotten even while he still lives. I believe it is time for you to face the bitter truth. It is you who shall be forgotten, while I will live forever. I am eternity."

Lazy days (Loki and Tommy)
"Not everything one says is either truth or a lie. There are certain things that match both. Opinions, for example. Most contain both truth and lie, depending on the circumstances. Another person might consider my statements to be false. Should I be speaking to the lady Sif, for example, I would have been called a liar for telling you what I just did." There was only one thing that she liked better than lying, and that was to dance on the vague line between truth and lies.
Oh, the myths. Those had been an amazing plan gone wrong. âIt is hardly my fault that the Vikings mistake wisdom and wits for hostility.â Well, maybe it was. âTo convince those dimwits of who I was I may have had to use several enchantments against them. They appeared to be less brave and mighty than they claimed to be.â And it was because of that that they had started to portray her as the villain in their tales. None of her attempts to threaten them into altering their stories had been successful, sadly. Instead they had only gotten worse. âBefore you ask, only half of the myths are true.â She did not give birth to a horse, damnit!
"Paperwork, hm? What would that be about? If you swear to refrain from mentioning this encounter against any of them, I suppose I could allow you to leaveâŠ"
Tommy tilted his head, thinking about that. âLike when I say mutants are just humans like everybody else and bigots call me a liar?â he ventured, trying to translate it into something that was easier for him to understand. He rubbed his face. âSifâs Thorâs wife, right?â he asked, still doing his best to recall what little he could remember.
The speedster chuckled bitterly. âI guess theyâre just like people now; they donât understand magic so they probably fear it. Same goes for us mutants.â He wondered how the Vikings would have reacted to people like him. Probably with fear and suspicions and pitchforks he thought with a little sigh. He smirked slightly and turned his head to look at her. âWhat half is true? The one with the horse?â Because that one had never failed to make Tommy laugh. He wondered how people even came up with that kind of stuff. A god for rain and thunder he could understand, a goddess of mischief and lies to blame things on too, but to mother animals? That went a little bit far.
"Eh, I gotta catch up on some paperwork from the last few weeks. Robberies, muggings, that kinda thing" he shrugged, leaning back on the bench and stretching his legs out in front of him. "I canât guarantee stuff."
"Exactly," she replied, even though she still didn't quite understand the concept of mutants. Perhaps she should look it up in the library later that day... "It is hardly your fault that those fools are too dull to fully understand the situation, is it?" Whatever the situation may be.Â

Still of the night (Loki and Spidey)
The first time she saw him was even before she'd ended in the hospital. A man dressed in red, almost invisible in the dark as he jumped from building to building. She recalled watching in surprise, wondering how and why he was traveling like that. It was almost as if he was flying, for no ropes could be seen. Yet the same could be said about wings. He did not have those either. The sorceress had been too tired from escaping prison to dwell over it for long though, and had simply closed the curtains and gone to bed.
Loki had all but forgotten him by now. She'd been in the hospital for almost a week, and it had taken her almost a month to fully heal. Glad to be able to actually walk around without being in pain, she'd chosen to go out that night, preferably to pester a few unsuspecting Midgardians.Â
Plans that were immediately changed when she thought she saw something red move above her. She whirled around, but too late, for nothing could be seen any longer. The person did not return.
Another week after that, when she ventured out again, garbed in a black dress and matching cloak, she finally saw him again, this time clearly. The figure moved over the wall as a spider. He intrigued her to no end. Wasting no time on having her attire switch into something more suitable, Loki teleported herself to the top of the building he attempted to climb and hid behind a large chimney. He was not going to get away again this time...
New York, New York // Loki & Jean
The look on miss Greyâs face was priceless! If it wasnât for the fact that she really wished to continue her act a little longer, Loki would have laughed. But what name to give? Certainly not her own. But she guessed she might as well give Jean the name sheâd also given to that doctor. âMy name is Lorelei. It is a pleasure to meet you." Every time she used that name she prayed to the Norns that Amoraâs stupid sister would never visit MidgardâŠ
Loki continued to sip her tea, seemingly at ease. âOh, darling, must you leave? We had such a nice conversationâŠ" Underneath the mask of indifference, however, her initial amusement changed into surprise. Magneto? What was this all about. âSpeaking of which, I am afraid I have not yet met this Magneto you speak of. But his criminal gang, that does sound fascinating. Would you care to tell me more of it?"
Having studied psychology for a very long time, Jean could tell when someone was lying - even without using her telepathy. She stood still for a moment, glaring at âLoreleiâ and trying to discern whether the dark woman was being purposefully aggravating. âThere is not a doubt in my mind that youâre getting pleasure from tormenting me. Donât call me darling - in fact, donât talk to me at all. I donât know who you are, where you came from or why youâre questioning me, but I donât care for it. I donât care for it at all. So if you donât mind, Iâll be on my way."
Jean gave the woman one last angry scowl before picking up her sandwich from the plate and making her way towards the doors to the restaurant with her arms laden with shopping. She better not follow me, thought Jean angrily, or I swear Iâll- Iâll- I donât even know. Ugh! She reached the door and pushed it open, eager to get back into the outside.
This kept getting better by the second. Loki watched Jean leave, a hint of amusement on her features. "Who ever said I was attempting to torment you?" Honestly, if Loki tormented people they usually knew it for sure. Tormenting others was her favorite pastime. "Nor was I questioning you. Miss Grey, dear, I believe you are afraid of someone. Someone that might be here as we speak, someone who might hold the power to harm you. Am I correct?"Â
Her words appeared to be pointless though. The other was by the door already. The goddess shrugged lightly and sipped her tea again. Oh well. The conversation was amusing while it lasted. Though she certainly did wish for a sequel of it, if only to find out who this Magneto was. The idea of a criminal gang intrigued her greatly. Some of them might make excellent new minions...
Lazy days (Loki and Tommy)
"It is not boasting if whatever one speaks about is true," she replied with a smirk. If anything, Loki was very proud of her natural talent for creating strategies. Sometimes she genuinely wondered how the Aesir could possibly have won so many battles before she started to aid them with her tricks and strategies. They knew no other strategy than to blindly charge into battle while roaring like the savages that they were. She almost pitied them for it.
So people did read the myths. She wasnât entirely sure if that was a good thing. âWell of course they do not describe my childhood. They were created for the sole purpose of mocking the Odinson. Which, sadly, failed. It appears to be considered admirable to do nothing other than slaying giants and feasting all day." If there was anything she could still be annoyed about, then it was the way the Vikings had worshiped Thor for his bravery and appetite while none of them really cared for the clever yet physically unimpressive trickster. Physical strength and a high tolerance for alcohol. That was all they had cared for.
Not that that would interest him. She focused on his words again. Wherever his feet took him. Now that was a completely useless reply. âWhat if your feet take you to SHIELD?" It was all she needed to know.
Tommy snorted. âTrue that." If only other people would see it. A lot of people called Tommy arrogant, but fact was that he was one of the fastest people alive. Just because he told people didnât make him arrogant or boastful. âYouâve been saying a lot of true things. Arenât you the goddess of lies?" he pointed out.
The speedster shrugged. âI guess it just sounded more fun than what we know about you?" He frowned, doing his best to remember what Billy had rambled about. He knew the general things, and a few details, but placing them with the right stories was hard, especially since Billy tended to go from one myth to another. ââSides, all the myths made you sound kind of evil. Itâs not weird they didnât really like you." He scratched his temple, hoping he didnât offend her.
Quickquickquickthinkofsomething he thought. âThen Iâll get some food and watch some movies in the rec. room or something. If they donât force me to do paperwork and training, that is."  Heâd probably do paperwork about this meeting as soon as he got there, but that, again, was not something he thought she should know. Loki hadnât done anything that was technically illegal now, but she still was a war criminal and that was a pretty serious thing. Tommy couldnât just let her run free, even if she seemed pretty likable.
"Not everything one says is either truth or a lie. There are certain things that match both. Opinions, for example. Most contain both truth and lie, depending on the circumstances. Another person might consider my statements to be false. Should I be speaking to the lady Sif, for example, I would have been called a liar for telling you what I just did." Lazy days (Loki and Tommy)
"Of course I am right. I am the best strategist the Aesir ever had the honor to encounter." And the best strategist theyâd ever cast out. The best strategist theyâd ever banished, mocked, ridiculed for her preference for magic. No, her childhood was definitely not interesting. Her life was a tragedy, and she knew it. âIf you truly care about my childhood, then read the myths." Of which none described her childhood. Loki highly doubted that anyone, least of all this Midgardian who was in fact still a child himself could ever understand what misery sheâd gone through.
Her curiosity no longer mattered. The subject of childhoods and pasts would be closed. Loki refused to discuss hers. Under most circumstances she refused to so much as think about it. It did tend to depress her. It was because of that that she gladly accepted the change of topic. âIf you would leave? Excellent question."Â
What would she do? Loki wasnât sure. âI suppose I would either stay and pester these dullards a little longer. Or perhaps I might pay a visit to the house of knowledge." By which she meant the library. If anything, her self-chosen exile to Midgard did provide her with a great opportunity to study the Midgardian literature and science some more. Knowledge was power. âAnd you? Where will you go, darling?"
"And they say I like boasting" Tommy muttered under his breath, trying to hide another smile. Loki was funny, even if she probably didnât mean to be. He snorted. âNah, I donât need to read myths, I have heard them all." Heâd heard Billy relate the tales of the Norse pantheon countless time. He was pretty sure he could dream them by now. âBut I donât think Iâve ever heard about your childhood." He didnât mean to pry, and he was merely noting it. He knew how terrible it could be when people tried to pick your entire childhood apart.
He grimaced. âIâm not anyoneâs darling" he pointed out. The word made him uncomfortable. âHouse of knowledge?" he repeated, tapping his fingers on his thigh at high velocity, his mind racing. "Oh. You mean a library?" he guessed. That was not an answer Tommy had expected, though pester these dullards was something he had.
"I donât know" he admitted. âWherever my feet take me." He had nowhere to be, nobody to see and nothing to do. Tommy didnât mind so much. He could go where he wanted as long as he was on-call for missions. He got food, a roof above his head, money and a whole lot of freedom.
Though I might call SHIELD he mentally added. Tell them Iâve found you. See what they do. He doubted it was a good idea to voice this to the goddess, so he kept silent about that part of his plans.Â
"It is not boasting if whatever one speaks about is true," she replied with a smirk. If anything, Loki was very proud of her natural talent for creating strategies.
