Llull Machines create audio-visual artefacts, using live digital drawings – projections on an iPad app called Tagtool and live electronic music. These artefacts are neither “live animation”, nor “live drawings with the music accompaniment”, nor “VJ to accompany electronic music”. Our means of work are surprisingly similar; we both use all ten fingers. In the manner of its operation Tagtool resembles modern electronic music instrument – part synthesizer, part sampler. Everything is created in real time, no templates or preparations are used, Grundik’s setups and approaches are as painterly or sculpturally as musical.
Occasionally, we collaborate with video artists or other musicians. And so, new dimension arise.
We explore. We evolve daily. We are alive.
Primary Llull Machines is a live group. One should share a space with us to really experience what we do. But we think the videos below can be enjoyed as standalone pieces too.

Original version of Сон человека в сорочке (Dream of the Man in a shirt) was improvised live on 26 May 2015 at Max’s flat in St Petersburg. Later Grundik surprised his comrades by completely removing original sound and replacing it with the piece he wrote some 10 years earlier. Max was angry because of Grundik's impudence and cruelly processed the video as his counter-move. The three decided it was all good and lived happily ever after.
