LMHS Fic Update!

due to some Discoveries and some ✨themes✨ i would like to follow throughout the fic, there has been a change to the fic's structure from 4 parts to 5

the content of the fic has not changed, nor has the length, but there are Some Differences now that i want to highlight

the new layout will look something like this (i'll update chapter numbers as i discover them):

>Entire Fic >Part 1 >Chapters 1-4 >Part 2 >Chapters 5-? >Part 3 >Chapters ?-? >Part 4 >Chapters ?-? >Part 5 >Chapters ?-end >Epilogue

because the new part 1 is going to be less than half the length of the originally planned part 1, the intention now is to continue writing to where i originally planned to end part one (chapter 9 or 10), and then go back and edit part 1 and start posting

again, this is because the content of the fic has not changed, and the chapters haven't changed, and i still want to give hina and myself enough space to be able to create in a way that isn't immensely stressful SJKBVDKJVBD

essentially, the fic will still be uploaded exactly when it would have been before this change, it's just that the overall structure has shifted. part 1 will very likely be the shortest part in the fic, but because of Themes™, i wanted it to be on its own :D

Can I ask, are you the creator who drew atla versions of jjk characters? :0 if so, is the au still in work?👀👀

And finally, can we hear what bender each character (or at least the main ones and Junpei) is?🥹 (I mean I saw the art so I know, but when it comes to Megumi and Junpei for example I am lost ._.)

hi!!! ok first of all i’d like to apologize for going so long without making like . “An Official Statement” whatever that means lmao it rly isn’t that deep but anyway. for all intents and purposes please consider this an official statement that lmhs/jjk atla!au is on an indefinite hiatus :< 

i am only half of the duo behind that au so i can’t speak for sam but . honestly i think part of the reason /i/ put off saying anything until now is bc i feel an immense amount of guilt and disappointment in myself for burning out on th au after dedicating so much time and effort to it. i feel like i’ve let ppl who were invested in the au down and i feel my stomach drop when i see new ppl in my notes going through the tag after discovering it for the first time bc i feel like they’re being reeled in only to be inevitably disappointed upon reaching the end and finding that it’s no longer in the works. which sucks !!! it sucks so so bad after so many hours so much concept art so many paragraphs of worldbuilding brainstorms w sam but . at the end of the day the spark just isn’t there anymore , and i’ve been drawing long enough to know that that’s not the kind of thing you can really force :( 

i’m not making any promises that we will continue the au at this point and i’m truly sorry for doing so before. i really wanted to believe that we could push through with the power of friendship but the degree of burnout after that fervent and all-consuming New Project high was not something i could have foreseen. right now both sam and i are occupied creatively by other things and other fandoms and i don’t think either of us really want to force ourselves to churn out uninspired work because we were disillusioned enough to believe that last summer’s hyperfixation would last indefinitely. 

on the flipside though, i’m also not making any hard claims that the au will never be back in production !! interests and inspiration come and go so there is always the chance that one day the stars might align and we’ll pick back up where we left off. that being said i won’t kid myself into banking on that possibility too much because at the end of the day, the divine intervention needed to reignite Two cases of burnout on a common project would....be nothing short of a miracle tbh

anyway . sorry this was a lot and probably didn’t answer the entire question u asked but this has been weighing on me for months and i wanted to take the opportunity to finally say smth and get it off my chest.  ((p.s. anon the answers to your follow-up questions are most likely in the tag or better yet, in the fic - feels kiiinda scummy to promo it after all of the above but part 1 is up and was a labour of love and sam deserves all the accolades for all of their hard work))

so tl;dr, indefinite hiatus :( to everyone who had supported the au, i’m sorry, but more importantly , thank u so so much . even working on part 1 was an experience unlike anything i’ve ever had in fandom and i will treasure it forever <3

Chapter Preview:

Instead of backing away or closing the door, Itadori steps into Megumi's space and catches him with one hand on his upper arm and the other on his collarbone. "Fushiguro, what – oh. Fuck." His eyes are down, wide, brows suddenly drawing in and wrinkling the scar that cuts between them. He turns his head away, back into the house. "Dad!" he yells, and he is loud, louder than he has ever been around Megumi in all the time they have known each other. It makes Megumi wince and turn his head away. "Sorry. I didn't –" he coughs, and blood spurts out of the wound to ooze between his fiercely trembling fingers. "I didn't know where else to go."

chapter 3 is out!! a bit of time skipping in this one, a bit of moving forward to ready the trio for the grand adventure before them

He turns the corner and his balance falters, sending him listing to the side until his shoulder catches up against the wall of whatever building is bordering this alley.  “Fuck,” he whispers, staring hard at the toes of his thin, torn shoes in an effort to make the ground stop spinning and tilting beneath him. Something is wrong – that punch to his temple definitely did more damage than he can name – but everything is closed at this hour, and he doesn’t have the money for medical treatment, anyway.  Truthfully, he wouldn’t trust a healer regardless. With a palm pressed hard into stone, Megumi rights himself and takes a step forward. 

Chapter 2 is out now! Strap in and get ready to meet Megumi!!

is there a posting schedule for the atla!jjk au fic or is it just as you go along?

no posting schedule! i've written through chapter 6, and i'm currently doing my first edit pass of chapter 5. it's very likely that chapter 2 won't be posted until after the new year just because both hina and i are going to be Going Through It in december, and if i have the time to write more than 1k in this entire month i will be truly genuinely shocked

but otherwise yeah it's kinda just.... when it feels right?

forgive me if this has been asked already, or if i am just being stupid, but what does the tag "MTEOAGFOTC Nanami Kento" mean?

GHJFDJH ok somewhere along the line i started referring to him as "father of the century nanami kento", which got abbreviated to fotc nanami kento. and then even FURTHER down the line sam added something to the lore doc (tm) about him being the most talented earthbender of a generation, so it only made sense that i add that to the acronym :’> at this point it’s just a running bit that every time we discuss lmhs nanami we do so by his full government title. tbh it’s the respect he deserves

Summary:

Though the world cycles onward and paths that once crossed may yet cross again, the present moment must be cherished for the fleeting, unrepeatable gift that it is. Itadori Yūji is many things: a loving brother, his father’s son, an earthbending prodigy. Recently, he has discovered that he is the current Avatar, as well. With the company of Megumi, Nobara, and his owltiger, Karucchi, Yūji must now travel the world as he learns each of the elements and begins to shoulder the duty of maintaining harmony between the four nations and the Spirit World. And if he has to solve a centuries-old mystery and stop the nefarious plans of a certain corpse-possessing spirit, then he’ll just have to do that, too.

HI SORRY AGAIN FOR THE RADIO SILENCE

i'm in the process of writing chapter 6. as SOON as chapter 6 is done, i'm going to, in order: give myself a more detailed outline for chapters 7-10 (should take a single day max) and then IMMEDIATELY start editing chapters 1-5. as soon as my first round of edits is done on all 5 chapters, i will re-edit chapter 1 and then post it

not at all! i will read as quickly as possible

second of all i..... could not even begin to guess when the first chapter will be posted. we have both been Going Through It with the canon chapter releases, and that's kind of where both of our heads have been at. i'm almost done writing chapter 5, though! i think that once chapter 9 is done, i'll go back and start editing, and then the first chapter will be posted soon after. depending on how things go and what my writing speed looks like once canon has concluded and all our feels for that are out, it might be pre-chapter 9!

i'll for sure make a post when i start editing so that people know to keep an eye out for the chapter drop announcement and accompanying art!

hi *vibrating at the speed of light* could you share a totally random fun fact about gojo perhaps....and if that's not possible then geto

when yuuji was still young once in a blue moon nanami wld drop yuuji off with a babysitter and meet up with gojo to go drinking. during these outings nanami drinks and gojo watches amused while nanami bemoans the less than glamourous aspects of single parenthood. 'he brought home an /owltiger./ i have trouble enough keeping the place clean with just him running around, how am i supposed to keep on top of a cat that will grow to the size of carriage' 'i've gone through so many dining tables that the woman running the furniture store has started recognizing me.' (<- sleep-deprived hina)

(procrastinating sam ->) random gojo fact: he doesn't take his shoes off when entering a home bc he's Rude but he DOES take his hat off bc he's Polite. take that as you will KSJDBVKJDBFV

random geto fact: he was actually very studious of the other bending styles of the ppl he went to school with and is able to - much like an earthbender - navigate his way through a space blind as long as that space has water (snow and ice count)

(Hello this is Haibara anon again lol)

"the little butterfly effect ripples that they caused took him out of that role before he ever even knew what it would be" my boy TT. God, I'm not even trying to guess anything here but just imagining whatever role he got was revealed either right after he died and it was devastating for literally everyone he knew OR it got revealed to the main trio in their journey as some kind of worldbuilding lore and by that point Haibara is more known as a dead boy instead of a real person ... I'm tearing up (can you tell I'm passionate about him ahah)

All that aside, I can't wait for the story to be published! Take your time obv since good story needs a lot of marinating, but know that I'm excited 💞

if it's any solace to you, he does at least live to adulthood in the fic (it's not like.... covered really but yeah he is An Adult when he dies) so there's that KJSDBVJKDFVBJKBDVF
