7 am and i’m up thinking about hannibal lecters sexuality and how attraction never happened him to him in the usual way bc people are objects to him. he looked for someone to sleep with in the same way he might’ve browsed the wine aisle. qualities, traits, and flavors. someone useful to his plans or susceptible to his manipulations, someone whom he can unwittingly corrupt. never anything resembling human emotion and connection. he’s a hedonist so ofc he enjoyed the sensations but the person might’ve well of been a toy, and nothing ever penetrated his walls. so when will comes along, he can only describe his desire for him as hunger. this is the only meaningful desire for him, the fulfillment of which satisfies something extremely personal and emotional. will touching him feels like being carved up. he can’t conceptualize how will might want him differently, and so after so much struggling and resisting, he makes peace with it. he lets will pull him over the cliff and destroy him but when they wake up on the other side, will is still there, hungrier than ever and this time, he doesn’t want to kill hannibal. he wants to keep him. he wants to keep eating from him every day and never have any less of him. wills touches start feeling like the gentlest surgery, opening him up, rearranging, stitching back together, creating him rather than consuming him, and hannibal wants to look inside will too, really look at the person he’s fucking for the first time
