wow! really great job acting quickly to protect marginalized parties by blacklisting a Russian streamer and forcing her to write a statement, Flight SMP admins!
next you should probably ban any American streamers who haven't made their stances on ICE and America's various warmongering tactics absolutely clear. oh and make sure you also get any UK folks who haven't explicitly spoken out against their country's borderline genocidal treatment of trans people. oh and while you're at it better ban any Europeans who haven't spoken up about their country's history of colonial violence.
you know. just to keep people safe. because the silence until now has had a tangible impact on the people actually hurt by these issues. sooooooooo :/
Older Silver AU comic: Part 1
(continues under cut)
Sighs. Something almost funny if it wasn't so sad about the hermitcraft mcc teams. I'm glad it's for charity but there's something about coming out of a month full of conversation about representation of marginalized genders in mcyt and then there's. This. 6 women and 1 nonbinary person. Out of 40 players. Only 3 creators of color. Out of 40 players. Like. We can do better than this. Surely we can do better than this. Surely we can expect better than this.
I know this is a hermit-focused event. I know that that means all the hermits are participating. I also think that that is not an excuse. Hermitcraft itself has a problem, and the fact that it only has 3 women and 1 nonbinary creator out of 25 members is in itself just. Well, any words that I could use to describe it would just make people even angrier at me than they're already probably going to be.
Hermitcraft has done some incredible things, especially in their previous efforts for charity. But I don't think that "it's for charity" excuses this level of laziness on the parts of the hermits and of the event organizers in putting together the players for this event. Well, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, really. This is exactly the level of diversity I would expect from hermitcraft.

An unnecessarily long post about the MCYT fandom and the sexism and queerphobia it refuses to unpack
“Nonbinary people are both yuri and yaoi!”
“Nonbinary people are neither!”
“Nonbinary people should get to choose!”
Or, hear me out, we stop misusing yuri and yaoi and just say queer. In my opinion, the explosion of use of these terms in the MCYT community---and western fandom as a whole---actively contributes to the erasure of nonbinary identities and representation. It’s not cute or woke to reinvent the binary with new words. Especially when they are words you do not know the meaning or history of.
Yaoi and yuri aren’t just any MLM or any WLW relationship, they are specific genres that have complex histories involving homophobia, sexism, and the fetishization of queer relationships. It’s more idealizing of Japanese culture that I find to be very common in the US. Did you know that gay marriage still isn’t legally recognized in Japan? Yet people won’t stop talking about yaoi and yuri.
Back to my original point about the erasure of nonbinary identities and the reinvention of the binary in queer spaces. I saw this incredibly evidently at the beginning of Avid's (AvidMC) stream for his Bannerfall cameo where people were debating whether any potential romantic interactions would be yaoi or yuri instead of focusing on the---very cool---new character. That's weird. Avid was obviously excited about this character and the fact that the character was nonbinary was pretty big for him seeing as it is his first time playing a nonbinary character. But still, a sizable portion of the discussion was about applying binary words to someone outside the binary. That has a word, exorsexism, and it is rampant in queer spaces, even in small ways like this. [Using he/him exclusively for Avid currently as he has not stated if he prefers anything else yet---he came out 12 hours ago as of writing]
I've also seen people refer to the relationship of Owen and Luanne (OwengeJuice and LemonThyne) as "cishet." I want to give people the benefit of the doubt but.. that's still erasing not only nonbinary identities---Luanne being genderfluid---but is also saying that if a queer person gets married to someone who presents more of the opposite gender than them, they're suddenly straight. Not only is this exorsexism, it's also biphobic and arophobic as Owen is both bisexual and aromantic. Both of them are queer and to call them "cishet" because they don't fit the standards of a binary queer relationship is queerphobic. [I'm not certain of Luanne's orientation, so I didn't mention it]
There's also ZombieCleo. They are nonbinary and use she/they pronouns, but it seems like because they are okay with she/her, people forget that. Using binary pronouns does not make someone any less nonbinary. She's said before that she is not female and is not trans masc. They are nonbinary, "Let me be nonbinary!" Moonrot isn't "yuri," by the way, VSMP fans.. I'm looking at you.. It's not even WLW.
People aren't going to fit your binary. They are not going to fit your binary of gender. They are not going to fit your binary of attraction. Nonbinary, bi, and aro/ace people exist. Queer people erasing the queer people they don't understand does nothing but shoot the community in the foot. If you don't understand, then learn. If you can't learn, then shut up. Trying to fit people who are not binary into binary boxes does nothing good for anyone. You can't "Bury Your Gays" to real people.
I went on a bit of a rant, but I think it's important. I didn't even talk about the incessant focus on MLM or "yaoi" pairings in the MCYT community yet, so I guess I'll do that now.
There are two---maybe three, I'm not sure if Shan/Graecie is canon---canonical "yuri" pairings in Bannerfall. Both of which are very deep and thoughtful. And yet there's so much unnecessary focus on flowersmith and, to a much smaller degree, lionwell/lionsmith. And I say that as someone who has liked lionwell since week 2! Why is there more content for two men who have exchanged flowers than there is for the actual Romeo and Juliet-esque love story?
I think a lot of this could stem from the fact that the MCYT community is absolutely overflowing with men, specifically straight men. DSMP, QSMP, Life Series, Hermitcraft, Life Steal, I'm sure there's more, but that's about it for my wider MCYT knowledge- I didn't even really get how disproportionate it is until I got into SBK and PowCreations last year. If you only watch or primarily watch straight men creators, or men creators in general, have you ever considered why?
In conclusion, stop centering binary cis men! Stop sidelining sapphic relationships! Stop erasing nonbinary people! Stop using words you don't understand! Deconstruct your patriarchal values and evaluate why you are upholding the binary you claim to want to abolish!
Sincerely, a very passionate genderqueer and aroace teenager
Do you have any thoughts on the whole Avid Scott thing
I think that Avid did a very brave thing by speaking up about not wanting to be flirted with on camera and how he's frustrated with being seen only as shipbait while people ignore his actual character work.
I also think it's not productive to start pointing at specific people and accusing them of harassment when Avid has not named names and its been made clear this is about a pattern of behavior and not one or two people. Yes, its clear Avid and Scott had some kind of fallout, or at least that Avid has deleted the photos of them together. But unless Avid specifically says "XYZ did XYZ" I think its unproductive and inflammatory to point at the most popular example of a man he is shipped with and say that Scott's guilty of harassment. Again, it has been made clear that this is a pattern of behavior and not from one or two people. If Avid wanted us to think it was just one person and to start pointing fingers, he would have said names.
This isn't petty drama and this kind of accusation is not one I take lightly. We shouldn't put it on anyone who hasn't actually been accused. I understand the urge to jump for justice and find someone to blame, but take a second and think about what you're saying before you start inserting names that haven't been named.
Everything that has been happening is stuff that Avid's been thinking about for a while. He does not make public statements like these without a LOT of thought put into it
And secondly, thank you for reminding everyone not to speculate- we can't stop you from thinking things but PLEASE know that Avid doesn't need strangers trying to accuse anyone of anything! The best thing for everyone to do is focus on supporting Avid rather than try and "figure out" what his friends and coworkers could have been talking about privately
fandom misogyny is one of those things where you notice it and youre like "wow thats terrible!" and then you just keep noticing it over and over until the end of time and youre sitting there saying "hey is anybody gonna talk about this" and everybody says "no" and then goes "haha isnt it funny how this mlm ship is so popular even though these characters dont have much screen time? especially compared to a wlw ship between the main characters haha!" and it makes you want to peel all your skin off

This video covers what happened in the first week of jungle island and some of the interactions we had during those initials days, that took place.. Almost two months ago. Ough.
Well, it's finally here tho! Check it out!

please talk about Latin America.
I feel like I need to talk about what America is trying to do with Brazil and figured this might as well be the nicest place I could talk about. For context I'm Brazilian.
If it wasn't any obvious to people, the current American administration is the most imperialistic the US has ever been in recent history, and this is coming from someone with a literal history major, the president seems to think the world revolves around it's nose, but the US is not the world's police for decisions such as wars and who governs what to be taken or justified.
In 1964, in the peak of the Cold War (Post Cuban Missile Crisis), Brazil suffered a US-backed military coup as the US saw the need to keep Latin America under it's belt for it to not "fall under communism's hands", so tell me why such a military government basically sold our entire country to it and made us rely so much in the US? Why was our national industry basically scrapped in benefit of American manufacturers? Our minerals? Our oil industry? And they could've kept getting away with it if not for hundreds of thousand of Brazilians going onto the streets to protest for democracy, and even after the country re-democratized the US' influence kept lingering here.
It is no secret that since Brazil's very birth as a sovereign republic, the US has looked at my nation as a puppet, an opportunity, a gold mine to be explored, Brazilian marxist author Caio Padro in his book "O Sentido da Colonização" (The Recipient of Colonialism) argues that the imperialistic and colonial ambitions that Brazil has seen since it's very existance still reside in it's economic endeavors to this day, only that the recipient changed from Europe to North America (The US especifically.).
They came for Venezuela first, they influenced Argentina in every way possible, they are considering action against Colombia, now Brazil is next. They are actively trying to push an agenda that the criminal organizations here be classified as terrorist organizations. They are making up ARTICLES (with outdated 2018 images from unrelated events) about how dangerous cities have been due to criminal activities, our former president (Jair Bolsonaro, the Brazilian equivalent of Donald Trump) asked for permission of our Supreme Court to get in contact with advisors of the Trump administration recently, as he is imprisoned and should stay that way. They have called South America its backyard, BACKYARD, we are NOT important for them. Do y'all not realize how serious this is?
This is only happening because the US cannot stand seeing it's little empire crumble before it's eyes, because Brazil has been making deals with countries that aren't it, because our country when threatened with tariffs stood up against them and showed that we are not going to be puppets anymore, because the American war machine needs OIL and RARE EARTHS, which Brazil has plenty of.
Please, for a moment look at your neighbours, take action, talk about us, if you truly care about being against this administration, you need to use your reach and first world privileges to PROTEST more than you have already been trying to. Brazil WILL have the same treatment that Venezuela had if not enough people talk about this. Soon all of Latin America will be nothing but slaves of the United States. As much as we down here try, our efforts cannot compete with the American dollar.
User gh0stbear also brings amazing points regarding the situation in Cuba. It has been suffering with US embargoes since late 1950's when the socialist regime was implanted, but it's gotten especially worse in recent years due to this hyper-imperialistic administration.
The right loves to say that Cuba is an example of failed socialism, yet Cuba has one of the best healthcare systems in the world, 98% literacy rates, and one of the best urbanization rates in the world, but due to the embargo those began to fall recently.
Think about it, if you isolate ANY country out of the global economy, be it with a government of any ideology, they would fail too. The US would have done the same thing with China if they could, but the difference between China and Cuba is the influence that they hold.
This is a much broader issue and WE across ALL the Americas need to stand strong and for each other. Talk about CUBA, VENEZUELA, ECUADOR, BRAZIL, EVERY COUNTRY. If you don't do a thing, YOU ARE PART OF THE ISSUE.

You are a wanderer, traveling to far and distant places wherever that may take you. Some lands you stumble across are thriving and teeming with civilization; this is not one of those places. Where once appeared to be grand and large structures, now lay buried upon heaps of rubble and debris. Walking across this lost world, you miraculously stumble across a book, a safety manual of sorts. You gently flip open the cover…
