paddywax mixology candles
if you've visited the shop, you know we're big fans of paddywax candles. they're always working to keep their scents and their look fresh. we've now snatched up their latest line, "mixology."
these gold and white candles are a great addition to holiday decor and the glassware could certainly be reused by popping in a fresh tealight. great for a mantle! the corresponding drink recipes are on the back and, as always, these are hand poured in the usa.

waste not paper: modern glasswear, etc
we're excited to share yet another new line we've brought into the shop this fall. waste not paper is going to bring us a great mix of merchandise. bicycle and fox glassware is here and is completely gorgeous ($24 for four glasses, boxes).
coming soon are paper monkey puppet kits, 2015 tea towel calendars, garland kits, and holiday photo prop kits. if you love paper, you're going to love everything we have from this modern and environmentally-conscious company.
roost linen totes
over the years, we've had loads of products from roost come through the shop: everything from apertif glassware to mobiles for baby. this season, we're bringing back roost's gorgeous washed linen totes. these arrived during the holiday last year and were gone the next day. this year, we're prepared!

cut maps: stainless steel, laser cut
scouring the "ny now" gift market in nyc produced some great new finds for the shop. in particular, we're loving these 5"x7" stainless steel maps. right now we are carrying philadelphia, but coming soon: media, of course. $30, comes framed and ready to display.

new at local are some really sweet kids' items from the piggy story, committed to creating products designed to capture young imaginations. before each product is crafted they ask, "what will captivate a child?" an array of designs from dragons and princesses to piggy fairies and piggy pirates keeps minds engaged to a story of their own. simple, fun and affordable - crayons, doodle pad, a tote with a fun design, are all the ingredients to make their fantasies come to life.

stationery news
due to customer demand, we've added a variety of fun new stationery products from three completely new lines to the shop. from studio oh! we have take-out menu organizers (great housewarming gift!), funky journals, address books, and thank you notes. from matrick & eve (handcrafted in florida), we just added really sweet gift tags, paper coasters, wine tags and note cards. our favorite are the state coasters, which say "home is where the hearts is...and where we sip our cocktails" and features an outline of pennsylvania with a wine or cocktail glass. very cute hostess gift! these heavy paper coasters last a long time, but offer a great value for made in the usa at 8 for $14. and last but not least, sapling press in pittsburgh brings us some very unusual greeting cards, most with a bit of humor, but all beautifully done in letterpress. our pick: "someone in philadelphia loves you" and on the inside, "it's me." great to send to a loved one far away.

our newest line for baby is none other than fuzzyheads! winner of the mom's choice awards and 2013 plush toy of the year (from the creative child awards program), you can't go wrong with these adorable plush toys. we're offering them in two sizes (9" for $14 and 16" for $22) and a variety of styles, each of which comes with its own name and bio. even better? they're machine washable. come by and see which of these great little guys and gals we're offering.

NY Now Gift Show (Part 3)
pixie mood, who makes cruelty-free and vegan handbags, brings us a great selection for spring and summer. i've personally been on the hunt for a black clutch, and as soon as i saw their new cork collection, i knew i had found the perfect bag. this rectangular clutch is cork with a colored vegan leather triangular flap (offered in black, white, and turquoise). the bag can also be used as a wristlet and includes a removable gold chain that also allows this to become a cross-body bag. i think i'm in love.
at holiday time we hope you saw the selection of serving pieces from the just slate company. these pieces are hand cut in scotland and are not only beautiful but priced so well that they can work as a hostess gift or even a shower or wedding gift. during the holiday their slate tray with silver antler handles was a big seller. this spring and summer they bring us their coastal collection, inspired by scotland's stunning shorelines and love of the sea which features slate trays with razor clam shell handles.
NY Now Gift Show (Part 2)
as we mentioned in the last post, the biannual gift market was last weekend at the javits center in manhattan. at zebi baby, we saw new patterns that, of course, included foxes. we've been telling you for a while that foxes are the next new thing in design, and we certainly saw it reflected here in swaddles, onesies, blankets, bibs and more. foxes are a really great option for gender neutral baby gifts.
we saw our friends at the ellie rose who have amazing new gift sets with simple yet elegant packaging. these are perfect for a shower. because they are based so close to us, we're planning a store visit trunk show soon... stay tuned!
we picked up a new line of toddler toys called 'hape' that we'll tell you about in a future blog post. we're so excited when we get to shop with you in mind, and we know that when it starts to arrive, spring will too. right...?

as you've probably noticed, our selection of baby merchandise continues to grow and grow. those babies you bought for a few years ago? well they're big brothers and sisters now, and when you come to buy for the new baby, you've told us you also want to bring the older kids a little something as well. hape, in business for 28 years, began as an educational toy supplier in germany. their philosophy is that 'reduce, reuse and recyle' is a responsibility that is reflected in an assessment of the environmental impact at each stage of their toys' life cycle: from the materials they used, to the way the products get to our shop, to the packaging a child rips open. these toys are designed to have a long life and to be intuitive. the play is neither limited, nor defined, by culture, language or gender. every hape toy encourages children to have fun, no matter who they are or where they live. we made an effort to choose a selection of toys that are appropriate for ages up to 4+. we're excited and hope you will be, too!
