Yeesh, this is becoming a Roblox blog at this point. I swear I don't mean to.
I'm not going to talk too heavily on the main situation here, as plenty of others are focusing on that. What I want to talk about mainly is how all of this is affecting the community and the uncertainty around the content itself.
That being said, I know some people have been getting upset about these kinds of conversations, believing it takes away from the real problem. I want to preface by saying that yes; the biggest portion of this whole situation is what happened to Ren, and she deserves absolutely all of the support in the world. I wish the absolute best for her, as I'm sure everyone else does.
But that doesn't mean other conversations cannot be had as well. Pressure has a large community that is now in discourse due to this awful situation. That fact does not have to be ignored just because it is not the primary concern.
I've seen a lot of people expressing distress regarding this whole thing, because Pressure's content and characters are beloved by the community. Now, with this situation coming to light, many feel uneasy, guilty, and shameful for this, and are uncertain what to do with said love for the content/characters. Characters like Sebastian and Painter have become comfort characters for many, and the story/world Pressure presented has captured the minds and attention of many, including myself, for quite awhile.
So I want to say this; do NOT feel ashamed for still loving Sebastian, Painter, or any of the Pressure characters. These characters, while brought into creation by horrid people, are NOT part of what happened. It should NOT be seen as 'disrespectful' or 'disgusting' to love these characters. It's like hating someone because their parents were shitty people.
I stand with the people who believe that the characters and content of Pressure should be adopted by the community, and kept as something wholesome that brings people together. I too own Pressure merch. I bought both the Sebastian and Painter plushies a long while ago now. I'm not going to get rid of them. Unfortunately, I cannot take back the money given to these awful people. But I'm not going to throw out something I love just because the ones behind it are garbage.
The art and the artist can be separate things. Pressure's characters and story don't have to die and be erased just because the ones who started it are monsters. The characters did nothing wrong, and neither did the people who brought them to life with their voices.
Do NOT support the game. Do NOT give any further money to the devs. But the content itself can survive in its community SEPARATE from them.
That being said, if you are personally uncomfortable, this is of course no obligation. If you'd rather distance yourself entirely and forget about Pressure, that's your choice. But for the people who don't want to let it all go just because of the horrific actions of the developers, you don't have to. As long as you don't support THEM, the content can become a community of its own, and leave them behind in the dirt where they belong.
Again, absolutely all the love and support to Ren. I of course do not know her personally, but I'm sure she's a lovely person, and the content she made for Pressure is phenomenal, I just wish it hadn't led to such a horrible situation for her.
Don't feel shame for what you love. Claim it, own it, make it better than the people who came before it. Devs or not, game or not, we're a community forged by something far better than they deserve to have the credit for. Stick together, support Ren, support each other.
