A Historic Client
Today, we had the opportunity to visit a project site for one of ICON Architecture's ongoing projects. The project was located in Athol, Massachusetts. This project involved the reuse of three abandoned school buildings originally constructed in the early 1920's. Through this project, ICON architecture will build 52 new52 new affordable housing units, some of which would be a senior living center, making the project accessible to all ages. This project was exciting because the building is designed for historic preservation, so many landmark school elements had to be kept in place, such as blackboards, shelves, and other fixtures. This project is truly an inspiration as it broadens our understanding of old buildings, not just to the land they sit on, but for the value these buildings hold in their walls, and presenting thepresentsld wimemories
