An analytic philosopher in the strictest sense, Dummett followed Frege in making language and logic the basis of philosophical inquiry. Sir Michael Dummett was a metaphysician, a practicing catholic, a historian of early 20th century philosophy, a tarot scholar, and a progressive intelectual in the tradition of Bertrand Russell in his fight against discrimination. May he rest in peace!
