What are your opinions on earth spiders?
Earth's arachnids are quite the fascinating species. I've only recently been introduced to their existence and explored the humans' database to learn more of their biology and abilities.
Similar lifeforms native to Cybertron are larger, with higher intelligence and aggression in their hunting and strife for survival. The sentient Arachnomech species itself have evolved a unique call that provides them a symbiotic link to the Insecticons, giving them the role of a 'hive queen' of sorts. Those I had the opportunity to work with, I recall they were quite level headed and favoured their work for social interaction—determined lone workers who had mutual respect for those that appreciated their work. However I doubt the first of their kind introduced to you at this time of the war did not leave a good impression.
Do you consider Predaking and other predacons as your children? Since they are your creation
Children: often referred to those born of an organic's mode of reproduction. Such methods are foreign to Cybertronian procreation, as all are born from the well of Allsparks, made directly by Primus.
While 'children' wouldn't be an accurate term to describe my creations, in terms of likening my work to that of our maker the predacons would indeed be countable as my 'progeny'.
Is there any bot that you would consider as a friend?
In all honesty, amicable relations are not my best strong suite. Especially in a faction that does little to restrain infighting amongst its members, acquaintances that don't make you regret meeting them are difficult to come by, much less 'friends' in as high of the ranking I hold. Not to mention with the great loss of our species as a result of the war, any I favoured long ago are more than likely to be one with the allspark today.
Beyond Soundwave, none on the warship truly intrigue me enough to engage in conversation—nor do others have the 'confidence' to come to me. I have been exposed again and again to the chatter of the Vehicons, and I can't deny some drones do possess an interesting mindset that I wouldn't mind conversing with.
Alas, it's that same Vehicon chatter that has taken exaggeration of my behaviour and painted me in an unrealistic form to those yet to cross paths with me.
And with my other high ranking officers:
Knockout is blatantly not interested in any individual here that doesn't gossip like Starscream;
The seeker also deludes himself on a blinded perspective of our unique capabilities supposedly clashing for Megatron's favour
Predaking, although respectful to me with the understanding of how I take action, has begun to harbour a similar mindset to a certain brute that has proven to be a fruitless endeavor for most that follow it
Megatron himself has began to chase a dream that no longer serves for the benefit of our homeworld
And Soundwave, intelligent as he may be, questionably follows his short-sighted leader for a dead cause with motivations that may be lost as well
To provide a short answer: no, I have no friends on the Nemesis.
Do you think you'd enjoy the empty silence of the void? Or did you experience that while on Cybertron alone?
My solitude on Cybertron was used mainly to complete pending projects put aside by the needs of the faction. With no further orders I finished old tasks, made new ones with inspiration from scraps of technology gathered from the wrecked autobot laboratories, and assessed any other topics I wished to delve into.
However, the void would fail to provide any sustenance of enrichment with little to work with besides testing on the carcasses left to decay in the realm. While it would be as peaceful as my line time on Cybertron, it would not be as fulfilling.
Sometimes your altmode looks like creatures called spiders on earth. Do you like that better than your tank altmode?
The "spider-like" altmode my alternate transforms to is quite a fascinating design. Although there are little to no details on his origin, I hypothesize he may hail from a certain split family of Insecticons native to an unknown regions of Cybertron that evolved to live in it's conditions.
Acknowledging the biology of earth arachnids and the known information of the subject—with the alt-mode being fit to travel on different solid terrains and traverse horizontal and upturned planes—, the form proves to have great use in travel and search than the limits of my tankmode; though it's durability and power are still in question. If only I had more data, the possibilities of such a creature...
How do you deal with hitting a roadblock in a project? Something you feel like you just can't solve?
I'm speaking from personal experience here, since I am very stuck and have been listening to the Ghostbusters theme (not the one you're thinking of) for the last hour and a half. I'll go back to it soon and see if having fresh eyes helps. I was wondering if you do that too.
A 'roadblock' can be quite irritating and disturbing midway positive progress.
I myself see it as a sign to take some kliks away from the monitor and let my processor have time to breath. Success takes times, and if your flow of work is forced to a stop then you must have patience and clear your mind to deal with the odd easier and return to maintain that positive progress.
Perhaps listen to various other themes or simple songs to give you more ideas for this project of yours? I hope this helps you human. Good luck with your project.
Shockwave! I've been wondering, how do you drink/consume energon?
That is not information I am comfortable sharing...all I will say is through my head. Nothing more.
Hi Shockwave! I'm a bit curious, why did you want to create the predacons at first? Predaking in particular.
In a short answer: I created the Predacons simply out of boredom.
As mentioned earlier, I completed my projects and repeated them to nigh perfection. Not long before I rejoined the Decepticons, I encountered old files on Project Predacon from the War For Cybertron With the resources and energon still in greater amount than dwindling, I decided to tackle it once more and create a subject from the strongest genes I could find still usable. However, I was unable to put him online after complete formation due to fuel shortage, and required to put myself into stasis while he gestated in zygote stage. Had I been able to online him before I was found, he would have been my companion.
shockwave, what do you do to relax? do you enjoy any music? art, maybe? logically speaking, there’s some really impressive works in both fields.
Humans have an interesting relationship with music, and I have attempted to enjoy the audio hobby. But the only genre of music I favour is classical, as well as miscellaneous others that meet my standards and interests.
Art is much more diverse here than on Cybertron. The many forms of representation, expression and interpretation in one's self-made image amazes me again and again.
In my own curiosity, I have taken time to explore of the many kind of hobbies humans do in their leisure. Sculpting and metalwork, writing, reading and music work are the most common activities on Cybertron. Craft and 'cooking' however, do not exist as we do not have the resources nor materials on Cybertron for such. All I can do in that area is watch media on the subjects. I myself take part in metalwork, and enjoy recreating my favourite sights, areas, findings.
'Rock collecting' is somewhat of a hobby as well. Weaker mineral, metal and crystal formations on earth are uncommon, rare and some nonexistent on Cybertron due to the vast difference in pressure, heat and presence of liquids between the two planets. The various gems on earth fascinate me.
Such a skilled hand still prone to mishappenings....
Of what you know about Earth, what would you say your favorite part of it is? Also, how much of it reminds you of home?
Earth is a cherishing planet.
Much of it is organic and basic, so the similarities are very little in the case of comparing the two planets. Rather, earth gives more to its inhabitants than what we have on Cybertron; even as my species is more advanced and developed in the intellectual and physical levels, the aesthetics and life that earth holds give a better sense of living.
shockwave, are you working on any particularly interesting experiments right now?
As of the moment, not really.
With the great millennia stranded on a dead planet, I used my time to work on my projects. But soon those were completed, and I was repeating work to nigh perfection as I waited for any occurrence, sighting or reading of another mech.
Succeeding the rebuilding of the Omega Lock, the only work available was to refile damaged documents and data into city systems as I was regarded as the best choice with many of the discoveries and innovations having came to be at my hands.
In the current days however, there is nothing for me to do. Best I could conceive is learn the inner workings of Tripticon and sentinels alike, but it's function is still required as the Nemesis, so that day is yet to come.
Why did Soundwave forced you to make this?
Soundwave wanted me to experience living more, and somehow thought it was a good decision to use this medium to expose me to the human internet. although, by his other findings, I see this application is the better of other options he presented to me.
He meant well, though I only prefer he didn't persuade me with this species' basic intelligence. The planet and the lifeforms as a whole make up for their simplicity however. I cannot deny I've attimes enjoyed myself in 'nature' and the vast aspects of life humans have taken focus on that wouldn't have been considered on Cybertron. Not because they matter more for organics, but with the golden age (and even before then), not many cared for anything outside of qualifying results that met their standards.
Humans—albeit having gone through the same—are dividing from that mindset and take drive to live a life that has any 'good' quality to make it having worth to been lived at all.
Long story short: He wanted better for me—thought I required 'a breather' from work and better hobbies to truly relax myself.
Hiya shocks! Chemistry or biology? (And what's your opinion on a certain cherry red medic?)
Chemistry can be quite perilous when working with many various kinds of CNA altering and damaging radiation your species is unable to intercept in your current day and age; along with many volatile, powerful compounds that could offline a mech in mere seconds through an explosion akin to the tzar bomb made by your species (but scaled to Cybertronian firearm capabilities of WMDs), to fatal illnessness such as cosmic rust.
Biology, while difficult to study when ethics play a great factor of the living society, provides knowledge in much safer forms and would not risk one's life.
—Well, not my life....
Knockout...was an interesting individual. I am impressed by his capabilities with all that attitude.
