As a kid who had lots of trouble voicing their wants and needs to the adults around them growing up, Steve from Blues Clues being so accommodating and gentle with Blue and his audience is very special to me. He always asks if the audience is okay with helping him, he never gets angry when things become tedious or frustrating, and he genuinely enjoys getting to help and take care of others.
He's able to act silly and a little clueless (pun intended) without sacrificing his position as an adult. It still feels like he's watching over Blue and the audience, inventing the game "Blue's Clues" as a way to make understanding Blue's needs easier for him and more fun for Blue.
Great dad, great babysitter, overall 10/10 male role model.
[I am writing this first sentence simply to acknowledge the majority of English speakers here: this post is about wondering whether—or how many of—us within the community speak Spanish/Don’t speak English as their mother tongue. This post is about highlighting the lack of language diversity in the alterhuman community and inviting Spanish-speaking members to speak in our own language].
Bueno ¡Hola, heyyy!
Do you speak Spanish?
Sí, es mi lengua materna
Sí, pero no es mi lengua materna / he aprendido
Não, mas eu falo português (do Brasil) (sorry if this is badly written)
No, but I speak a non-english language from birth
No, I speak english from birth, and I know another language as well
Y'all, if a POC said you're being racist, its not up to you to decide that. Nonhumans are still capable of being racist, being nonhuman doesn't equal never being racist
For the love of god please fucking listen to POC nonhumans when they call out racism in our community
i have a hard time relating to posts in the agere community about regression with chronic illness or “stuck in bed” regression. so here are some things that help me & that i enjoy in my regression, as someone with severe chronic illness/physical disability
⋆。°✩ nesting in bed. having everything i could need or want within arms reach when i’m in too much pain to get out of bed. my nests often include my stuffies, heating pad, ipad, notebook/pens, sylvanian families, and stim toys
⋆。°✩ low stimulation kids shows - too much light/color/sound can make my symptoms worse. so i try to stick to things like bluey or curious george. i love to prop my sylvanians up to watch with me
⋆。°✩ matching pajamas! sometimes i’m in too much pain for clothes. matching pajama sets make me feel so special and pretty, especially when i’m small!
⋆。°✩ making medical devices fun - i love picking out tubie pads - especially if it’s a fun shape like a heart, or if it matches my pjs. i also always use decorative dexcom patches. and when i have the energy, i like to draw on my tube feed bag
⋆。°✩ facetiming my cg , there is nothing this couldn’t fix
⋆。°✩ just generally, trying to allow myself to rest, recover, and use disability aids, whatever they may be.
so much love to other disabled regressors!! especially those with more severe conditions, who don’t often see themselves reflected in agere content online. you are loved, valued, and deserve to see yourself in your community
🌟📚 Hi kiddos! I'm an autistic person with a special interest in media and videogames so I struggled with managing screen time most of my life. These are the things I do to take a break from it, hope they'll help you too!
☆ Coloring books
☆Puzzles
☆Activity books
☆Painting with my hands
☆ Crafts and DIY
I also wanted to add that it's okay if we can't reduce our screen time! Sometimes life is too hard and too much and we need a screen to help us dissociate and think of something else, that's okay too! whatever prevents you from doing something bad it's good and I don't judge you for it! thank you for reading this far bye! 🛝🐈
i just wanna make a really quick post about this because it's unfortunately something i've been seeing a lot. stop reality checking individuals. if someone is genuinely experiencing harmful delusions, you are not the one that's going to convince them of that. if you are not a close friend, a licensed therapist or psychiatrist, or a family member of that individual it is not your place to attempt to convince them of anything. it can be incredibly harmful and even in some situations dangerous for that person's health. you are not helping.
