Me: *Removes my cat from my lap to do something else.*
My cat: Father is...evil? Father is unyielding? Father is incapable of love? I am running away. I am packing my little rucksack and going out to explore the world as a lone vagabond. I can no longer thrive in this household.
The spiritual successor to Miette
Might I also add
May i add the piece from artist Verbal Vomit
Glad to see we’re all in agreement that cats talk like disparaged victorian children
I am so incredibly glad we finally moved on from "i can has". Cats are clearly smart enough for advanced sentence structure and dumb enough to draw entirely incorrect conclusions about what they're talking about.
My cat, banging the cabnet door over and over and over: bang bang bang
Me: you will not earn what you desire by banging the cabinet door.
My cat: This is a test of wills, is it not? We shall see if your ability to put up with my incessant banging outlasts my eternal lust for snackie treats. Years of conditioning have hardened me for this purpose. bang bang bang
Me: ksst!
My cat, throwing herself to the ground like she's been shot: Oh! Oh I have been assailed in my own home! Have mercy, have pity! Surely in the cruel darkness of your heart there is some mote of goodness that might stay your hand! Do not strike me, I pray you!
Me: ok
My cat, after waiting about 3 minutes: bang bang bang

Beth: [to Randall] This pain is not forever. This moment in time is not forever. Nothing is forever, except us.
reminder to:
straighten your back
go pee goddAMN IT STOP HOLDING IT
go take your meds if you need to
drink some water
go get a snack if you havent eaten in a while
maybe wander around the house/stretch a little if you’ve been sat at the computer a while (artists especially: sTRETCH THOSE WRISTS)
reply to that text/message from earlier you’d forgotten about
maybe send a nice lil message to someone having a bad day?
I just would like to thank everyone who ever reblogs this so that it somehow ends up back on my dash because I usually need the reminder (especially the drinking water one)
“A masterpiece was created in the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone today” video by Kyle Kotajarvi
This wasn’t a government stunt to try and avoid doing something meaningful, but a coming together of community artists who did it for free. Which is why it’s the best.
And it’s not even finished in that shot!
It really is stunning art. I hope they keep this block closed to vehicles for a long time.
I love how the right wing is all “It’s Anarchy! It’s terrorism! They’re burning everything down! They must be stopped! Send in the military!”
Meanwhile the moment people are allowed to do what they want, the first things they do are…
Make art and plant a garden.
[ID: 1) An overhead video of Black Lives Matter painted down the middle of a public street in Seattle in large letters. Every letter is a separate brightly colored piece of colored art. 2) A Tweet by James Saint-Franc @sirjamesa12 “Every single letter was designed by black artists from the Seattle area.” 3) A still shot of the same street art completed. It is even more brightly colored.]
“We're gonna be there for you, and someday I’m gonna give you away at your wedding. Even if I think the guy’s a pissant and he’s not good enough for my little girl.”

Captain Marvel (2019) dir. Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck
So many dudes are freaking out about this and it’s beyond funny because this is pretty much every woman’s fantasy reaction to creepy dudes being assholes from the age of like 10 on up. Like 80% of us would do this every time given the slightest chance of getting out of it alive
What’s fun is the double standard. This is exactly what Arnold did in Terminator 2 to get his biker outfit. That’s lauded as a hilarious moment and people love it. Do the exact same thing with a woman? Oh no! She’s being VIOLENT! How terrible! How unprofessional! How bad of a role model she is! Boo hoo!
We’re defending superheros by comparing them with murderous robots now, nice. Makes total sense.
We are and it is and it does.
But also, isn’t that sort of the issue? Terminator is presented as a murderous robot, and he still gets a pass for that scene, whereas Captain Marvel, superhero, doesn’t.
The problem isn’t just that it’s a woman, it’s that so many men have been in that guy’s shoes. They know if every woman behaved like Captain Marvel, they’d be in that same situation.
Not every protagonist has to be a morally pure five thousand percent of the time, and the women watching this should be regarded as rational human beings who can differentiate between fantasy and reality
No guys, I need to stop and talk about something in this movie and how fucking revolutionary it was; something that I haven’t seen in a movie before or since.
This is a movie about a kid who leaves her birth family.
Not a kid who find that they have a secret lineage or something that allows them to find their ‘true family’ - this is a movie about a kid whose true birth family is made up of bad people. So she gets out. And that is played as the right thing to do. She isn’t punished for it or made to feel bad about ‘abandoning her family’. There isn’t an underlying ‘but they’re your family and you have to love them’ or ‘they’re your family and they love you even if they don’t show it well or do hurtful things’ message of the kind that I see OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER in media. Matilda gets out and lives happily ever after because of it.
We need a million more movies like this to counter the metric shit ton of movies that directly counter this message.
#sometimes the family you start with isn’t a good one #but you can find your own #family is not absolute #blood is not absolute
not to mention, Miss Honey is an abuse survivor herself (and in the book, she’s only 23 years old)
they both got out. they both became each other’s happy ending.
“If you can manage to forge ahead with all that joy and heartache mixed up together inside of you, never knowing which one is gonna get the upper hand? Well, life does have a way of shaking out to be more beautiful than tragic.”
