When people argue that Harry’s reaction (or lack thereof) to the Sectumsempra incident was completely justified because Draco was trying to Crucio him and Harry has no reason to feel compassion for Draco and yadda yadda yadda all I keep thinking about is Harry running through Hogwarts, covered in Draco’s blood, his only concern being hiding that book. How can something like that be defended? I’ll never blame Harry for quickly going for that curse in self defence, but equally people discuss the incident so clinically - I can’t reconcile him watching his curse slice someone open face to navel, being soaked in their blood, and 5 minutes later playing the victim for getting detentions and saying he feels guilty … for costing Gryffindor a Quidditch win and going to bed feeling uplifted. It’s still frustrating to me.
