"You know you coulda avoided this if you hadn't been so stupid."
Emilio is trying not to let his bubbling panic take over and make him use up what little oxygen he was sucking through the tiny hole Josiah poked near his mouth in the gallon sized zip lock bag over his head and sealed off by electrical tape around his neck.
"This is your home now. You ain't goin' nowhere 'cept in a hole in the ground out back if you don't learn how ta behave yerself."
Josiah stretched out the tiny air hole with his fingertips and before Emilio could finish his deep breath, an inch and a half in diameter plastic plumbing pipe was shoved into his mouth and secured with more tape until his entire head was a makeshift black hood except the last strip of plastic in front of his eyes.
"Yer lucky I don't need two cripples around here otherwise I'd break both of yer legs instead of this."
Ezra tries to talk him out of it, tries to take the blame for Emilio's escape attempt and endure the punishment in his place. He knows he can handle it, he'd been through it before. Days of darkness, of sticky sweat, water, cum and sometimes piss coming down the tube in random intervals without warning. No food beyond a flavourless sludge you have to suck down fast so you don't suffocate, the bare minimum to keep you alive.
Movement totally restricted by ropes or chains, whatever Josiah finds aesthetically pleasing at the time, sometimes it's more tape.
A final bit of tape over his eyes puts him in total darkness and he's dragged out to a corner in the garage to the small cage there hidden by old ratty blankets and quilts.
Emilio thrashes against the bars but there's no room to move and he gives up quickly once realization sets in that there's no getting out.
Josiah tests the locks and meets Ezra at the doorway where he's leaning on crutches, looking obviously distressed.
"I know, Baby but you gotta teach 'em or they'll never learn. Coupla days oughta do him good."
"Can I bring him oatmeal in the morning?" Ezra leans into the big man and puts on his most convincing act of a loving affectionate partner, pulling him into a tender kiss. "If that's okay with you."
Josiah smiles and returns the sweet gesture, lifting him off his feet, crutches and all.
As of right now it's up in the air because I would like to rewrite the story one day and who knows where I'll land with things but originally (spoilers for TDH for anyone who cares lol) Josiah wanted to kill Charlie right away but Ezra begs him not to. So since Josiah resents her he doesn't give her an endearing name.
more women whump. more women pushing themselves and passing out from sleep deprivation and exhaustion. more women training until their knuckles bleed and their legs give out from under them. more women being held prisoner and remaining stoic until the very end or perhaps when theyâre rescued. more women under truth serum and terrifying hallucinogens. more women waking up in a pool of blood, their own and othersâ and not knowing what happened but that something is terribly wrong with them. more women falling apart o ly when rescued. more women pushed to their breaking point. more women whump.
3 people asked for more Buck Never Leaves AU within 2 months (which is a lot when you consider this series came out 6 years ago) (FUCK) (I'm 30 tomorrow isn't that wild?) so I whipped up a little somethin' somethin'.
tbh a lot of my creative thought production for this world is going towards The Pros and the unwritten but 80% complete in my head sequel, so I hadn't thought about BNLAU (which is what i'm gonna call it so i dont have to keep writing it) in a while, even tho when I first put it out I remember being like "there's so much more I could write for this!" well, i guess I shoulda written it down, because I don't remember.
ANYWAY... enjoy. And thanks for still giving a shit about my work. :)

Fletcher may have introduced Buck to the new trainees as someone who âworks forâ them. They may have told the new trainees not to hurt him - not to lay a hand on him - unless Fletcher tells them to do so. And they reassured Buck that they would only ever tell them to do so for a lesson. If any discipline was required, Fletcher would only handle it themself. And they trusted Buck was wise enough about his situation that they wouldnât need to call on anyone else to help âwrangleâ him.
But the relationship was clear. The power dynamic was glaring. The way Fletcher ordered Buck around, the way Buck labored without argument. The way Fletcher volunteered him for lessons, the way he cowed in their presence. The scars. The tracking bracelet.Â
The trainees were not bold enough or dumb enough to hurt Buck outside of the lessons. But that didnât mean they didnât bully him.Â
One in particular, Williams, thought he was hot shit when he could flex some power over Buck. Making threats and taunts, âaccidentallyâ shoulder-checking him in the hall or bumping into him while he had his hands full.
One day he pulled his gun. Waved it around as he gave Buck some speech that was supposed to intimidate him, but he wasnât listening. His eyes tracked the movement of the weapon. Out of fear, Williams thought. But they were wrong.Â
Williams kept his finger off the trigger, Buck noticed. At least if he was going to ignore every other safety rule, Buck didnât have to worry about him accidentally squeezing off a shot.Â
Buck had been paying attention to the lessons. Maybe more than Williams. Certainly, he was able to disarm him with ease.Â
âFletcher.â Buckâs voice was stern.
âWhaâŚâ Fletcher looked up from the pile of carrots they were peeling, and trailed off.Â
It was the most surprised Buck had ever seen them, second only to when he had killed Petrova. Ironically enough, more so than when he had pointed a gun at them, considering he now had a gun pointed at one of their students.
Buck held Williams in front of him, one hand holding tight to the collar of his shirt. The other hand held the gun, pressed to Williamsâs temple.
âGive me the key to your truck,â Buck demanded.
Fletcherâs eyes traveled to Williams.
âThis is going to look bad on your report card,â they said. âYou could be looking at summer school.â
Williams made an annoyed noise.
âWhatever, itâs not like heâs actually gonna do it.
âOh, heâll do it,â Fletcher assured them easily. âHeâs done it before.â
Williams paled. âWhat? He killed someone before and you kept him?â
âFirst time the gun wasnât loaded, second time it was actually in my best interest.â
âTwice?â
âFirst one was an attempt on me, not a student,â Fletcher clarified.
Fletcher stood from the kitchen table slowly, and even slower reached toward their belt.
âKeys are by the holster,â they said. âIâm gonna go slow.â
Buck nodded. Fletcher carefully unclipped their key ring from their belt loop and held them aloft.Â
âHow we gonna do this?â Fletcher asked.Â
âToss me the keys. When I get to the truck, Iâll let Williams go,â Buck instructed.Â
âNormally I would insist on an at the same time thing, but I guess you have no reason to kill Williams if you get your way.â Fletcher reasoned. They looked at their keys for a moment. âIf you take my truck, Iâll be stranded.â
âI know you have the four wheeler,â Buck shot back.
Fletcher shrugged, caught. âWhereâs my truck gonna be?â
âWhat?â
âTell me where youâre going to leave the truck so I can retrieve it.â
âIâm keeping the truck,â Buck insisted. âI donât have anything; Iâm going to needâŚâ
He trailed off.Â
âYeah, what is your plan?â Fletcher asked. âSleep in the truck? Be homeless? You have nowhere to go, you have no money, you donât have anyone to turn to.â
âI know where you keep your cash in the truck,â Buck said.Â
Fletcher scowled, then returned to a neutral look.Â
âFine, thatâll get you started. And then, what, get a job? You know how long it will take you to save up enough money to get an apartment? Did you pack a bag? Youâve got one change of clothes and no shower, so good luck at interviews. Applications are all online now, anyway. And youâre going to need to save that money for food, so-â
âGoddammit, Fletcher!â Buck snapped, rattling Williams who let out an involuntary gasp. âAnythingâs better than staying here!â
Fletcherâs laugh started off small, then crescendoed.Â
âThatâs not true.â
Buck flexed his fingers on the grip of the gun.Â
âYou gonna come after me?â he asked.
Fletcher thought for a moment, then shrugged.Â
âUndecided. Probably not now that Iâm in the middle of a training season. So thatâll give you a good head start. Might not be worth the effort to try to pick up your trail⌠as long as youâre smart about it. You know not to go to the cops, right? Itâs a death sentence.â
âYeah, whatever,â Buck said, exasperated. âGive me the keys.â
âWe need to come to an agreement about the truck.â
âThe agreement is that you give me the keys or I blow your studentâs fucking brains out!â Buck roared.
Fletcher let out a small chuckle, eyebrows slightly raised, like they were more amused than intimidated.Â
One moment, Buck was staring Fletcher down with their trainee at gunpoint. The next moment was all pain, sharp and overwhelming in the back of his skull. The next moment was on the ground. Both his hands were bracing against the floor, which meant that the gunâŚ
By the time his eyes caught sight of it, having fallen from his grasp and slid a few feet away, a hand was already reaching down and picking it up. He tracked the movement, leading his gaze up to Fletcher.Â
Buck tried to push himself up, but collapsed back down as the pain doubled. He pressed one hand to the back of his head, expecting to feel blood, expecting to feel his skull caved in. A new pain slammed into his ribs now, in the form of a steel toed boot.Â
âAlright, Caldera, you got him, thank you,â Fletcher said. âIâll take it from here.â
Williams held out his hand for his gun, but Fletcher tucked it into their belt.
âOh, youâve lost gun privileges."
âWhat?â he protested.Â
âFor now. Weâre going to talk about how this happened, and how we can prevent it from happening in the future,â Fletcher said, voice dripping with condescension.
They crouched down in front of Buck, who managed to look up enough to meet their gaze.
âThat was a good attempt,â they said, then sighed. âI hate to lock you up again; I thought we were past that. But really, more than anything, I need to keep you under observation.â
They took Buckâs chin and tilted his head up as he grimaced, studying his eyes.Â
âWhen youâve recovered a bit, then we can discuss how things are going to be from now on.â

I'm never sure if I should add the taglist for bonus stuff (or how many of those urls are still accurate, or how many ppl asked to be tagged after I had finished the series and I thought I was Done Forever so I didn't make a note of it) but uhh here we go
âItâs definitely not out of the question,â Whumper purred, stroking his knife. âBut I donât think weâll even need to go that far. Itâs just⌠you have a naturally loud voice. It carries. And Iâm not even speaking about volume. What you say carries. It inspires. It carries a message. It carries far, to all the other cells we have here. And right now, I want you to broadcast the message of defeat.â
He crouched down in front of him, pricked the knife straight up into the underside of the manâs chin. But Leader didnât look up, even when drops of blood flowed down his throat, the stream slowly splitting over his Adamâs apple.
âLook at me,â Whumper growled. âBefore I pin your tongue to the roof of your mouth.â
Leader closed his eyes for a second, in patience, resignation, Whumper wasnât sure. What he was sure of, by the way something moved under his eyelids, was that Leader rolled his eyes at him. But before he could say anything about it, those eyes snapped open and instantly found his. Whumper looked him straight in the eye. There was nothing there; no fear of what was about to come, nothing that remotely resembled anything close to defeat. He didnât even wince when Whumper slowly turned the tip of the knife.
âI think youâve got the wrong man for that,â Leader merely said, leaving it up to Whumper whether he meant he couldnâtâor wouldnât.
Whumper took a long, sharp inhale through his nose and didnât immediately exhale. Then he pried his knife free.
âVery well,â he said in a lethal tone. He stood, let the knife drop from his hand, resisting the urge to flick it away and reveal his frustration. âThere was never much choice in this matter. But have it your way.â
Without another word, he busied himself with Leaderâs bonds, clipping something to his handcuffs before freeing them from the bolt to the floor. He walked across the cell, hoisted a chain, and pulled Leader to his feet.
Leader went along, knowing he couldnât break free from the iron pulling him up, not wasting his energy. When he was stretched out, hands tied above his head, Whumper stopped.
And he picked up the whip.
The first lash forced out a sharp hiss of pain. It slashed through Leaderâs white undershirt and red immediately soaked through.
A steady rhythm of lashes, leather against skin, snapped through the air. It alerted the troops to what was happening, without a doubt. But Leader kept his pain bottled safe within.
The barrage kept going. Skin split open violently, the leather carving deeper with each hit. Blood stuck his shirt to his skin, sweat soaked the shirt until it turned to a see-through flimsy barrier across his back. Leader took every hit almost patiently. But he knew very well he couldnât keep from screaming for long.
Grunts turned to small cries when the pain became too much. He was on the brink of losing control over his voice. And finally that voice boomed free. But not in the way Whumper wanted.
âMen!â Leader roared, letting the pent up pain explode in the single word. His voice didnât even crack. It echoed against the walls of the cell. Carried the length of the dreary corridor. And could clearly be heard by both foe and friend. âWhat is defeat?!â
Whumper, his arm drawn back for another hit, stopped in his tracks in surprise.
Almost immediately, a raucous roar came in reply from outside.
âTemporary!â The men shouted back as one. A loud cacophony of shouts and cheers rose up. They rattled against the bars of their cells with whatever they could find, shook the doors in their hinges.
Whumper lashed him again with all his might in frustration. But the noise drowned out Leaderâs following, genuine scream.
âThis. Is. Not. Temporary!â Whumper shouted, each word emphasized by another lash.
Mere angry welts weeping blood turned to vicious open wounds as Whumper kept going harder. Leaderâs shirt was nothing but shreds by now. Muscles trembled underneath, in pain, in exertion trying to keep himself up. But even despite all thatâ
He let out a chuckle.
In a rage, Whumper flew forward. He threw his whip down, circled around Leader, and grabbed his chin, roughly yanking his head up.
âWhat is so funny?â he hissed.
âYou didnât let me finish⌠earlier,â Leader panted through a wicked grin. âI was going to say⌠If you think me screaming⌠will break their spiritâŚâ A small scoff broke through. âYouâre mistaken.â
The uproar outside kept surging, expanding, escalating now that Whumperâs men tried to calm it down. Shouts of âShut up!â were unheard. Even a warning gunshot only led to boisterous cheers.
âAll you didâŚâ Leader continued. âIs make them more angry.â
I've literally been obsessed with your devils highway Josiah Baby Emilio story for years and I absolutely love your writing and your story telling. Do you think you'll ever continue it? Would you answer questions about your characters?
That's awesome to hear that you still dig it. That makes me really happy.
In my heart I want to and have made efforts to rewrite it but when that will happen is up to the writing gods. I miss writing Josiah and all those guys so hopefully one day.
my most favourite thing in the whole entire world is when whumper is just A Normal Guy. having perfectly normal conversation and joking around with whumpee. perfectly reasonable. open to discussion. They just enjoy having a guy around to play with. and by play they mean torture.
"youve already written that trope" yesss. i like it a lots. i will be writing it again. 1000 stories of the same trope over and over again for ten million years
defiant whumpee says something that pushes whumper off the edge and they decide to punish their captive in a new way. as they slam whumpee to the floor/bed/against the wall, they lean in close and growl "you're going to feel me tomorrow. next time you think about talking back, remember what it feels like to have me inside of you."
the hottest thing a guy can be is barely conscious on the floor while someone lifts his head up by the hair so that you can see his glazed out eyes and the blood running down his face
