“Oh my goodness I’m so sorry. I swear that wasn’t what I was trying to do.”

“What?” Autumn asked, eyebrows raised as she held a plate of food out. “C’mon, try it. It’s an old family recipe. It’s really good… just trust me.”

“I do trust you,” Avery agreed with a gentle smile. “But I’ve tried a few of these before and it wasn’t my thing. Are you sure this is something I’ll like?”

“I honestly really really tried to pay attention.” Ash admitted, though most definitely not as genuinely as it sounded, “then I actually listened, and realized that I am most definitely not the right person for you to be talking to right now. Consider this a favor.” A smug grin grew on his features, knowing full well that favors were never granted without further payment later.

Watching the two Avery felt a bit awkward as she stood nearby. Eventually though one of them left and it was just the boy who remained. "That looked fun," she commented lamely wondering if perhaps she had just kept quiet.

“I’m pretty sure when– or if– we return to our normal bodies, I’m going to have a mug waiting for me on the kitchen table that says ‘world’s worst mom’. This is the third video chat I’ve ignored in two days and I’m running out of excuses.”

Mostly passing by Avery couldn’t help but hear the other girl speaking and she paused. She herself didn’t really have anyone who would be worried at the moment. “Yeah I guess I hadn’t thought of that being a problem. Nobody to worry about at home and all.”

Loneliness is addicting. It’s dangerous. At first you think you enjoy being alone. You have a dark side. But in time you get used to it. You don’t want to deal with anyone. With life. You want to be alone all the time. You are not only lonely but you also enjoy it. And before you know it, you want to be by yourself forever.
