“That’s true. Mom is supposed to be sending me a care package since she absolutely refuses to come see or let me come home to pick it up. Apparently it has food and snacks as well as hygiene products since she assumes I’ll be needed three showers a day.” He laughed, running a hand through his hair before taking a sip from his water bottle. “Yeah. Blaine and I are throwing one here at the frat house. I’m assuming everyone has been tested, otherwise they wouldn’t be allowed to stay here and with the state of the world, I think having a party is a good way to kind of take everyone’s mind off of it. We’re going to be safe with it and if you handle the food without gloves, we’re kicking you out.” The junior laughed, shrugging his shoulders. “Well I mean, mom isn’t so bad but the step dad will be there and he’s an outdoorsman so he’ll want to go fishing or hunting. And they don’t have wifi so its either go to my brother’s home and listen to him berate me on my clothes or stay here where I’m surrounded by friends.” Finn explained with a chuckle. “You’re coming to the party right? We’re having barbecue and beer.”
“You’re welcome, Rach.” He smiled, listening as she spoke. Her excitement was contagious and he laughed when she agreed to eating at the family owned cafe. “Ah no, fifteen minutes is plenty of time for me to get everything I need to get done.” With a wave and a promise to be back, Finn headed upstairs to his room. He quickly showered, throwing on a dash of cologne and shaving the little bit of stubble on his face. He threw on a pair of jeans and a button up shirt, running fingers through his wet hair to train it to where it needed to go. After checking himself in the mirror to make sure there were no stains or holes in his clothes, he grabbed his wallet and phone and walked back downstairs to meet Rachel. He didn’t see her so he stood underneath the tree and watched as people walked by. He couldn’t help but shout about the party, telling them that they should come but no one really seemed excited and two of them even ran away, a gesture that he deemed weird.
His mother sounded incredibly sweet, even more so than Rachel had already thought she was. She adored Finn’s relationship with his mother; it was adorable, and quite honestly, part of her was jealous. She could only wish for a mother, but that was a fact she’d never tell either of her fathers. They’d raised her so well, cared so much. Telling them anything other than how perfect they’d been would’ve been a crime. “It’s not a terrible idea. Especially if you’re going to be sweating a lot,” she pointed out, more so playfully than not. While Marley had told her not to panic in terms of supplies, she’d went ahead and placed a small order anyway. If they were going to be stuck on campus, a closed one at that, she’d have everything she needed. “Your brother sounds interesting,” she laughed, amused by yet another relationship she was curious about. She loved being an only child, but it did offer room for boredom at times. “Blaine and I had discussed the possibility,” she admitted. “I’m still thinking about it.” As much as she wanted to go, part of her was nervous. Would anyone even notice her at a party full of popular students? Would they even care?
Nodding, Rachel headed back toward her room, making a quick change of clothing. She traded out her attire for a cute sweater jeans with rips at the knees. Rachel dabbed on her perfume, her tanned skin smelling of flowers as she released her hair from the ponytail holder. It was wavy and the smell of her conditioner filled the air around her. “Perfect,” she chirped before grabbing her bag and heading out. She’d taken a little over fifteen minutes, but Finn should’ve known better than to agree to such a short time. It was only when she spotted him again that she smiled wide. “How’s the shade tree treating you?” It was a playful question, her arms crossed over her chest. “Ready?”

I don’t think we’ll have anything to worry about. I mean, we’re healthy and young. We should be fine.
I’m more so concerned about transferring it to someone who isn’t as young and healthy as we are. As much as I adore the spotlight, I don’t want to be the one to carry and spread something to a lot of people.

“Its weird right? Our parents thinking that staying at a school with thousands of people is safer than coming home.” The junior laughed, shaking his head. “But hey, I don’t mind. A week of not having to learn anything and the chance to throw an epic Spring Break party? Its like the virus did me a favor.” He didn’t actually believe that but it was kind of ironic that bieng at the one place that he was looking forward to leaving was also the one place where he was going to have the best spring break ever. “I do agree that sleeping in your own bed is a downside because dorm mattresses aren’t the most comfortable but would you really want to be stuck with your parents, inside, for an entire week? I love my mom and step dad but being stuck indoors with them while they listen to Yanni isn’t my idea of a fun time.” He laughed, his nose crinkling before shaking his head.
Watching the female’s cheeks turn red had a smile forming as he chuckled softly. “I was kidding, Rach. You look beautiful. Even in sweats and a ponytail.” He brushed his shoulder against hers before noticing the eagerness with which she said that she would join him for lunch made him raise a brow but he didn’t mind. She was a nice woman, a bit scary when she showed her passionate side, but Finn liked that. He was the same way when it came to football. And Puck was always telling him that it was the crazy ones that had the most passion in the bedroom, not that Finn cared about that. His love life might be a hot mess but he wasn’t like his best friend. He didn’t sleep with just anyone, not that he was thinking of the brunette like that. They were just friends. “Well, there is the diner right off of campus. I think I saw that they were going to be open for those of us stuck here for the week. We can go change and then head down there together?”
“I don’t think my dads really expect me to leave my room too much,” she admitted, bottom lip slipping between pearly whites. She wasn’t adventurous, at least in the same way most people her age was. She didn’t care about partying and drinking, but instead focused on her future career. Anything that could possibly ruin that wasn’t worth her time. Yet, Blaine had somehow triggered her curiosity. “Do you really think there’s going to be a party? Even with all of this sickness going around?” It seemed like a horrible idea, but who was she to judge? She wanted to break into the auditorium to do what she loved; maybe partying was something he loved. “I don’t know. They aren’t that bad. I mean, they’d probably watch Broadway shows with me and listen to me sing. I think they’re the ones who caught a break.” As much as she loved her dads and as much as they loved her, she knew she wasn’t easy to handle. “It can’t be that bad. I’ve heard you talk about your mother before. She seems like she’d be fun to be stuck with.” Part of her longed for a mother, but she dads were perfect. Still, sometimes it didn’t feel the void of a motherly figure.
The compliment was one she wanted to brush off, but she felt her stomach twist in knots as she smiled up at him like a doe-eyed freshman. No one had ever called her beautiful, especially when she felt everything but. “Thanks,” she replied quietly, tucking a stray hair she’d missed behind her ear. She’d be lying if she said she didn’t have a crush on the tall male. He was kind, sweet, and athletic, not that the latter mattered too much to her. He was a good friend and that was more than enough for her. “I love that place!” She smiled widely, her hands clasping together before her. “As comfortable as I feel, I think that’s a good idea. If I’m going to risk getting sick, I want to look a little better while doing it,” she joked, though part of her wasn’t kidding at all. “Meet back here in fifteen minutes? Unless you need more time to shower?”

I don’t know about that. There was this boy in my freshman English course that always asked questions just to hear himself talk. At one point, I’m pretty sure he even asked what class we were in. Which, by the way, it was always written at the top right hand side of the board. Consider it done.

I know, but still, tell me if I do ask too many things. Even if it’s to prevent my tombstone to read something like ‘Here lies Sam Evans, curiosity got the better of him’ I’m kidding!! Anyway, seriously, since the gym is closed and we’ve got this long-ass spring break ahead of us, I’m good whenever, so what if we start tomorrow? With like an hour or so, to see how it goes?
Okay, and you’ll do the same? Sometimes I like to ask things before thinking. I’m a curious person. Sam! That does seem fitting, though. Not that being curious is a bad thing, because it isn’t. I’ll text you and then we can go from there? If you get too distracted, we can always take little breaks. It’s probably better to do that anyway.

Finn wasn’t taking the quarantine as seriously as he probably should have, hell, he wasn’t taking the virus as seriously either but he was also an optimist and he was of the belief that it would pass in a couple of weeks and everything would go back to normal. His trip to the store had been an adventure, no toilet paper, no paper towels, even the meat was gone, which had made planning meals for the week harder than normal. He had managed to scrounge up just enough to survive until the cafeteria opened up again next week. He was being careful though and following the guidelines of what the news was reporting. He carried hand sanitizer in his pockets and always washed his hands but he wasn’t going to confine himself within the walls of his fraternity, especially when it was so beautiful outside. So he had grabbed a few travel size bottles of the sanitizer and headed down to the quad for a quick run. He hoped that getting into better shape would give him an advantage in the upcoming football season.
He hadn’t seen a lot of playtime and he needed that to change if his plan to go pro was going to happen. The jock had planned to head back to his room to change before venturing out again. He figured most people were taking advantage of the lack of classes by sleeping because even though it was late morning, there weren’t a whole lot of people around, which made him feel better about his ratty workout clothes. He was almost back to his building when a semi-familiar voice broke through the sound of birds chirping. He quickly turned towards the sound and let a soft smile form on his lips. “Rachel, hi!” he said, running a hand through his still damp hair. “Yeah, my parents thought keeping me here on campus would be better than going home. I’m not sure I agree but it is what it is.” He chuckled, noting that she looked more laidback than usual. “Trying a new look?” He teased, motioning to her clothes. “I was just heading back to the dorms to shower and change before grabbing lunch. You could join me if you want. For lunch I mean, not the.. the other thing.”
She wasn’t quite sure she’d ever wrap her head around the friendship she shared with none other than Finn Hudson. He was cool, tall, handsome, and goofy all the same. He’d been nothing but kind to her from the start, and when it came to talking to him, well, it came a little too easy for her. “Yeah, my dads were terrified of me traveling home. They’re overprotective, which I guess isn’t entirely a bad thing. I know they mean well, I just sort of wish I could’ve gotten a break from this place. I could use a home cooked meal and my bed right about now.” If she was going to be stuck somewhere, she wanted to be somewhere she felt inherently comfortable. Not that sharing a dorm with Marley wasn’t comfortable, because it was. It was just... her house was much more so.
Rachel’s tanned cheeks flushed a light shade of red as she peered down at her clothing. Maybe it was a new look, but it wasn’t something she’d flaunt with pride. “I uh,” she stuttered, head shaking as she smiled up at him. “Just wanted to be comfortable today. It’s not exactly the most fashionable choice, but it’s nice.” If all of the other girls could wear this kind of attire, why couldn’t she? “I would love to!” It was a quick reply, perhaps a little too eager. “Join you for lunch, that is. I’d love to join you for lunch. I’m starving and as much as I want to avoid this whole sickness thing, I’m craving a nice salad and something sweet.”

Quarantine. All it took was one word and Rachel knew what had to be done. If she wanted to avoid the sickness at all costs, she had to abide by the strict rules handed out to her by every news outlet known to Texas. Don’t mingle and don’t forget to wash your hands. Which, she’d been doing great at both until her own dose of cabin fever hit hard. She needed fresh air, and as long as she didn’t interact with the masses, she had to be fine, right? The brunette tugged her up into a loose ponytail, something she normally would’ve never done had it been a normal day. She preferred her hair down and straight, simple and classic, just as her act. Today wasn’t normal though, nor would the days to follow be either. She was supposed to be home with her dads, baking and singing every line to every Broadway hit known to the Berry name.
Instead, she was wearing a hoodie with jeans, a poor fashion choice, but easy all the same. It was only when she saw Finn Hudson that she’d regretted her entire day’s look, but she put on a smile and greeted him as if nothing was astray. “Finn!” She was excited to see him, more so because she’d missed hanging out with him, and partly because she was tired of the isolation. “Does this mean you’re staying here for Spring break? I am. My dads didn’t want me traveling with everything going on. Which is fine, it’s just different.” She’d never mixed a visit home, but she’d be fine. “What were you doing? Don’t let me interrupt.”

Not even one little gathering? That’s not even true, we do parties after glee performances all the time. Ahhh, come on, live a little. You’re only gonna be in college a couple of times and only once with no other obligations.
Those are different. I’m with people I know and I usually don’t even drink. I’ve watched enough movies to know that a college party isn’t something I’d belong at. It does sound fun, though. Could we go together? If you’re up for it? I’d ask Finn, but I don’t think he’d want to go.

Is it really so hard to believe that maybe someone on this campus hasn’t been to a party yet? I have other things to focus on other than the football team drinking an entire keg or whatever they do with those red cups. I love themes, though. I could maybe get into that.

That doesn’t even make sense. What the heck is even going on with people? Some of these stories don’t help the mass hysteria that’s going on right now. If it weren’t for the mass amount of memes, I would consider shutting down my facebook. Alright, let’s do it. I’ve never gone a week without playing the piano, so I hope we can get in there.
Okay, now we’re on the same page. I don’t care about what’s going on, I want to actually have fun. Almost considered going to Disneyland while I was in California, but then it closed.
While I believe some people are right in their state of panic, others are taking it too far. I think if you avoid large crowds and always wash your hands thoroughly, you should be fine. And I’ve never gone a week without performing on some kind of stage and I refuse to break that now.
Let’s make our own fun. Wouldn’t it be nice to host some kind of gathering? With music and karaoke? Maybe a few games? I haven’t been to many college parties, so I’m not really sure what they’re supposed to look like.

If your dads are anything like my parents it’s probably a mix of the two. Phew, thank god, you know me… super curious about everything. If I ever do ask too much just tell me to shut the hell up. It sure sounds like you’re up for the challenge, so I say; Let’s do this! When do you have time?
I don’t think they’d lie to me. We have a lot of trust. It’s good to be curious. About everything and sometimes, about nothing at all. You shouldn’t feel like there’s a limit to your questions. I might end up getting cabin fever soon though. Since they canceled my flight back to California, I don’t know where else to go.
I was reading an article about a gentleman in Tennessee buying over seven thousand bottles of hand sanitizer in hopes of profiting off them through Amazon. Isn’t that terrible? The show must go on, Blaine. It’s the motto I’ve lived by my entire life. Can’t stop now. I won’t. If you want to try, please consider me a second party.
You and I both. I can’t believes my dads weren’t okay with me coming home. I want to make this a goof Spring break. Nothing too crazy, but I want to have something to remember.
