I love how Isaiah's story so identically matches Steve, experimented on and being successful, breaking rules to save fellow soldiers, used as a tool. The core difference being the color of their skin. Steve was white, and went down as a hero in history. Isaiah was black and the same actions that made Steve loved and honored were criminalized. Isaiah was instead stuck in a cell, tortured, and left for dead basically, presumed dead. This is very real, think about white people being called survivors when scavenging after a natural disaster and black people being called looters in the same situation. This isn't just a plot point. It would be amazing if people can come away from this show with a bit more understanding.

you ever like… forget that you like your own writing? like yeah sometimes reading old fic is hard bc u see all the mistakes n what u could’ve done better but sometimes i’m reading through my own fic and i realize that it entertains me, i enjoy reading my own writing because i like writing because this stuff came out of my brain and i loved it enough to pour it out somewhere and keep it and it’s beautiful and no one else could have written it because these were my thoughts my ideas my imagination my creation…. anyway folks loving and cherishing your writing is a form of self love and we should all embrace rereading bits and pieces of our own fic every now and then

This is not an exaggeration. Your download speed would slow down to the point where Windows would make this kind of absurd estimate, and you’d sigh and leave the room for a while (because you couldn’t use the computer while it was doing this for fear it would crash and lose all your progress) and then you’d come back in 40 minutes and maybe it would now say 52 years or maybe it would say 3 minutes, who knew, not Windows.

just a reminder to fellow white people, you ARE the white person that is being talked about in posts about racism. you have to be reading these posts and articles acknowledging that you are indeed one of the people being spoken about, regardless of anything. if you’re just reblogging posts without looking at yourself and your habits and behaviors and thinking, critically and deeply about what you need to change, then you’re not actually doing anything.

and this personal growth is only the absolute bare minimum of work we need to be doing. we shouldn’t be relying on people of color making passionate, soul-bearing posts about their experiences with white supremacy to tell us how we should be acting. realizing you’re a cog in the racism machine purely because you are white and benefit from your whiteness, is step 0. and you shouldnt be expecting black people to tell you how to do it.

our white allyship doesnt even begin to mean anything we you cannot accept that we’re a part of the problem. we ARE the problem. internalize this. stop looking for ways to feel like you’re not directly involved in it, and especially stop asking black people to relieve you of your guilt by telling you you’re one of the good ones.

we have to start showing up. we have to start addressing the ways whiteness benefits us and then actually dismantle the systems holding the privileges in place. and we need to start doing this shit on our own, in our white communities, without being told to, without any promise of clout or attention.

you are the white person in the post you just read. you’ll always be. get over it and start getting something useful done
