Okay okay so college is kicking my ass BUT I COME BEARING A BETA DESIGN TO REMAIN IN GOOD FAITH! Also, brace for a history lesson and character explanation/lore below the cut. Warning: mentions of racism on Long Island during the 1900’s.

Here’s 2P!Long Island for ya. Fun fact: the character of Long Island started out Caucasian like myself (I was in middle school, relax), but over time, I became an adult and learned that Long Island is not only home of the most culturally diverse areas in the country, but it is also the most racially segregated. It’s why you have a bunch of black people in Valley Stream and white people in West Islip. We also had a huuuuge problem with the KKK that ended at around the Second World War but don’t quote me on that, I have to leave for class soon so I don’t have any time to fact check it, but the KKK WAS here. As a result, I began to incorporate aspects of other ethnicities into my character using my knowledge on forensic anthropology and general observation. I want to make Long Island look like Long Island.

The Alexandra we know and love, as well as 2P Alex, are both mixed. They have nearly the same skin tone, but different hair colors and textures, both colors aligning with their APH America counterparts, neither aligning with quite the same texture. While 1P was able to pass as white in her early years, 2P was not, and this has major influence on how they eventually turned out as adults.

1P acts like an asshole, but will support you. She will laugh at you when you fall and embarrass you, but will help you up.

2P acts kind, but will not extend any support. She will ask if you’re okay when you fall, but not help you off the ground.

I want these two characters to be studies of race, prejudice, sociology, and ethics, acting as two sides of the same coin. If it’s not political, it’s not Hetalia.

Funny you should ask that! Like Brazil, I made nyo!Long Island specifically for an AU! A buddy and I came up with this after watching the Latvian Olympic hockey match and (just me) watching the figure skating rounds. Will draw non-AU of him in the future but I have been living and breathing this AU for the past 3 days.

Meet Alexander Gianni Jones! In both the winter sports AU and in baseline Hetalia, he’s pretty much the same as Alexandra but voiced by a guy. The only other differences are the height, sex, and hair style. Still brainstorming a voiceclaim for the dude.

hey, as a former fan of hetalia i need you to know that you're going to cringe looking back at yourself in 3-5 years. it's a really racist + problematic show that makes light of the trauma of history when it, as a product of japan, has no right to. you may not see it if you only like the face guys but if you look at how the non-white/non-western characters are treated you'll see it. hell, even the portrayal of the ussr and the baltics is In EXTREMELY bad taste. i speak as someone who considered aph as a major comfort show when i was younger but realized better of it years later.

What? I feel like this ask would make more sense if I was someone who endorses canon 100% and actively watches the show. I'm very aware of the issues Hetalia has and I don't support them 😭 I think that would be very obvious if you looked at my posts.

Here’s a little drabble I wrote about Raivis and Flow winning an Oscar <3

"And the Oscar goes to..."

Raivis wasn't quite paying attention to the television, at least, not until he took a sip of his drink and heard cheering, followed by the name "Gints Zilbalodis". He gasped, the liquid pressed to his lips running down the wrong pipe, and he sputtered into his cup. The beverage sprayed all over his face as he bent forward, coughing to try and get the wet fire out of his windpipe... and eyes. The instant chaos had him slamming his drink down onto his table, exacerbating the puddle of spilled liquor in front of him as the drink sloshed over the rim.

He was thrilled to learn that his people had been nominated for an Oscar for a movie with a budget that could probably buy everything he owned multiplied by 10, he did NOT expect them to win over America's films. The westerner was an entertainment monopoly, after all. Pixar and Dreamworks had their own films in the best feature film nomination and...

"*Ak dievs, I beat America." He suddenly didn't care about the stench of booze that freely wafted through his room, or the pride he felt for his people, or his phone that was beginning to blow up with messages from his fellow Baltics. All that mattered was how absolutely pissed America must be that a cat beat anxiety personified.

Spoiler alert, America doesn't really care.
