Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero Tigelaar // The Scarecrow in "Wicked: For Good"
Elphaba Thropp & Her Sexy™ Cardigan 💚💚💚
y’all ever have those lines in songs where, when they finally sing it, ur heart just goes !!!!! and you become very happy because that one line in particular is just so wonderfully and artfully crafted?? like sometimes it’s the tune, sometimes it’s the lyrics, sometimes it’s a key change, sometimes it’s a long note, sometimes it’s something hard to explain!! i live for these lines tbh, sometimes i’ll listen to particular songs just to hear a specific line lmao
Fiyero spending the majority of pt. 2 looking like he was on the verge of throwing up and having a panic attack and then almost nearly getting better upon getting Elphaba back will never cease to kill me.
Something I really like about The X-files is its doomed but still hopeful romanticism. Mulder and Scully are alone against people with unimaginable power who can kill them both or one of them (which probably would be worse for the one who stayed alive), they are basically defenseless against them. No one knows the struggle they are going through, and if people knew, they wouldn't believe them. They both lost their loved ones because of the stuff they are involved into and they basically don't have an opportunity to live a normal life anymore. But they are still trying to know the truth, to find out what is being hidden, even if it will cost them everything. If the truth is out there, it can be found. And even if they gonna lose, they are still fighting and not falling in complete despair, even though they have all the reasons to, because you know, 'I want to believe'.
It seems like the only reasonable approach to the life full of horrors.
This leg caress from Shadows. 😍

Morning 🌸
dana scully character of all time. she's five foot two. her two day jobs are cutting up dead people and professional ghostbuster. she's got daddy issues. she owns a fluffy little dog. she's held multiple different government officials hostage multiple times. she kissed her boss on the mouth. she accuses said boss of trying to kill her like once a year with literally no foundation. she's catholic but her favorite movie is the exorcist. she shot her best friend. she was abducted by aliens and still refuses to believe in them. she dresses like an underpaid arts teacher. she met god in a parking garage. out of the two times the man she's been blisteringly in love with for years confessed his feelings to her, the first time she got so overwhelmed she started crying and the second time she thought he was high on painkillers. she can't park a car. she once had an existential crisis, got a tattoo, and slept with a serial killer. she wears socks on the beach. she might be immortal

There are two lenses through which the pivotal dance sequences in Dancing Through Life can be viewed.
First, let’s look at what Jon Chu has to say:
"Alice (Brooks, director of photography) and I always talked about how the truth is in the darkness and the lie is in the light. Dancing Through Life is a lie, for instance, so there is a lot of light coming in. By the time we get to the Ozdust, we’re playing in the shadows."
Fiyero’s dance = the lie vs Elphaba’s dance = the truth
And I love that.
Okay, moving on—parallels! Look at them.
The way the song is structured, Fiyero arrives at school, and as he starts dancing, more and more people in the library follow his movements exactly. He even says, "Once again, the responsibility to corrupt my fellow students falls to me." This tells us that this is his MO—everywhere he goes, he starts dancing, and people inevitably follow. He’s a natural leader, effortlessly pulling people into his rhythm with charm and charisma.
And, as Jon Chu confirms, this whole scene is bathed in light—because it’s all a huge lie.
Elphaba’s dance, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. No one can naturally match her movements. People don’t flock to her—they avoid her. They’re afraid of her. Even Galinda, the first to join her, is actively discouraged from doing so, and yet—she does anyway.
The Ozdust duet is a beautiful microcosm of Elphaba’s struggles and overarching story. Without Galinda stepping in, no one else would have joined. And yet, by the end of the scene, everyone is dancing her dance—because of Galinda.
But here’s the real point:
Fiyero is doing Elphaba’s dance too.
And as the lyrics "your life could end up changing" play, he stares after her—longingly.
out every scene in for good, this is the one i probably think about most
i guess it just stuck out to me how fiyero tried so hard not to look elphaba in eye as he was telling her go to safety and leave him behind. most likely because he knew what they were gonna do to him and he didn't want the last time they see each other to be so sorrowful. but it was him actually looking her in the eye that convinced her to go

I really do love this shot bc while elphaba looks heartbroken and crestfallen for glinda and confused that fiyero's chosen her all at once. fiyero looks ready to pull that willy wonka tinker toy ass gun back out and shoot dead anyone who comes in to hurt her

Fiyero sends this to the Wizard demanding to know why he would call this girl wicked.
Also, there are parts you could have missed or misunderstood when you watched it the first time.
alllllllllll I wanna do when real life is weighing me down is to take a break and talk about the x-files, but there aren't enough corners left in the world to just...sit down and talk about the x-files here in 2019
turns out this is STILL TRUE in 2021
