Other favorite covers, they’re so ridiculous.
Please don’t fucking log off tumblr on the 17th as a protest. All that’s going to do is give tumblr more reason to shut this place down because of revenue loss.
Please don’t fucking log off tumblr on the 17th as a protest. All that’s going to do is give tumblr more reason to shut this place down because of revenue loss.
This is blatantly untrue
Companies do not experience one day of revenue loss and pull the plug, destroying years of work and firing dozens if not hundreds of employees.
Companies which experience loss in revenue and consumer interest make investments and changes in order to regain their users/customers. That’s why organized protests and boycotts WORK. Tumblr will NOT go down after one bad day or week, but they might be willing to listen to its userbase if we put up an organized protest. (If you don’t believe me, think about how long sites like MySpace and Google+ hang around with fractions of their previous user base, often for years.)
Yahoo paid over one billion dollars for Tumblr, and the website will not go offline because of a one-day event, so in conclusion,
DO log off on December 17th to show Tumblr that you disapprove of its recent content ban and clumsy execution of censorship.
Please reblog this version of the post to stop the spread of misinformation.
Also, if Tumblr pulls the blog after one day of rev loss well shit they had it coming.
It sucks for anyone who genuinely enjoys using this site because I understand to get the functionality of Tumblr, you’d have to manage several sites at once and it is frustrating and tedious.
However, if at the end of the day, Tumblr bans adult content and ends up not making any money from it well shit they dug their own grave. If they end up shutting it down, it sucks for the innocent people who legit did nothing wrong, but they fucked up.
You shouldn’t expect and encourage a site to stick around if they’re fucking over their userbase just because you don’t want it to shut down. Tumblr cut off its nose to spite its face.
It may not shut down, but may become a barren wasteland like Livejournal which is effectively dead. Allowing adult content on a website and then removing it when it no longer makes you money or to appease ad companies is a good way to basically push everyone away from your site.
It isn’t just kinks and sex and horny people. Some of the people leaving didn’t even consume NSFW or adult content but followed other people who maybe did and they’re leaving because the people they followed are leaving, etc. It’s a domino effect. It’s not just people who created and consumed AO content leaving or attempting to protest this mess.
Hell some of it are people who have been incorrectly flagged and terminated because of their botched job at censorship
Dear Tumblr CEO and relevant staff-
I know you don’t give a fuck. I know your seat on the apple money throne is too high to hear the voices of your users, but here I go, shouting into the great void between us, into your grand safe space.
You make this lofty post of making a more inclusive and safe Tumblr, but all you do is attack people. you send your mindless bots after their blogs, you put them through days of hell, fighting for their craft, their livelihood, while your bots do nothing but attack innocent people, mes their timelines, flag their posts, delete their blogs, drive a wall between artists and their audience.
I do not feel your “safe space”, all I feel is the distress of those hundreds of people confused and worried over this event and their loss of ability to enjoy the content i have provided them for free.
I work hard every day because i believe in my craft, i want to offer people a little sliver of escape from their everyday troubles, maybe shed some faint light of hope into their lives, make the life those few moments it takes to read my comics a more tolerable experience. I have been through hell in my own life, comics have saved my life many times over, and here you are, making that altruistic effort to share my experience of hope and escapism substantially harder. Repeatedly flagging my art as offensive, making these mindless accusations on my character and my work. And I do not seem to understand your “idea” of more positive experience. How is it more positive and inclusive to attack people bringing joy and entertainment to others? How does that great lofty goal is in any way advanced by your discriminatory practices?
You must take people to be complete idiots if you expect them not to see that this is all about you hungering some apple money. Greed, not inclusivity, Moral posturing, not safety. Safety is freedom to express yourself, safety is ability to share your artistic vision without fear of loss of your livelihood and audience because some guy somewhere decides on your behalf if you have right to be heard or seen.
Ideas, even bad ones need to be shared so they can be judged and evaluated on their own merit. Was it then breasts or pastries. Censorship is never the inclusive, safe, tolerant solution. Never.
All you are doing is paving way to another round of puritanical witch hunts. So do posture as some moral paragon, put on airs of inclusivity all you want, but don’t bet on people being dumb enough to buy it when with one hand you go stabbing people in the back, while with other you are shaking hands with the devil in plain sight.
tl;dr Fuck you Tumblr, you ain’t inclusive, you are literally driving away people and attacking them, that’s the opposite of inclusive.
this website is literally incredible like u need to constantly walk on egg shells in order to avoid someone having an issue w you & i don’t mean that in the anti sjw way i mean like i reblogged a pic of a fat cat & got accused of normalizing animal abuse
