Looks like it’s prediction time again oh BOY
Because Oscar running away from the group for all the bullshit they keep putting him through parallels the scene in the Wizard of Oz movie where Dorothy runs away from home with Toto to prevent him from being taken away by Miss Gulch.
While wandering far from home, Dorothy meets Professor Marvel, a conman who sets himself up as a powerful mystic, aka the real-life counterpart to the Wizard of Oz. Professor Marvel tells her of his grand ‘adventures’ in far off lands, and she asks him if she can come with him on his journeys. Rather than allow her to come along and possibly get hurt by running farther away, Marvel makes a show of having a vision in his crystal ball, claiming that Dorothy’s Auntie Em is collapsing in illness due to Dorothy’s departure, effectively tricking her into going back home. He blatantly lies to Dorothy and makes her go back home to safety.
I’m thinking (hoping) that next episode will lead to a long overdue conversation between Oscar and Oz and the plan on what to do next. Oz has lied to everyone, including Oscar, about a lot of things, so getting a chance to sit down and actually tell some more truths could be really important to both of them. Perhaps Oscar will unlock more of Oz’s memories? Whatever the case, they need an episode to reconcile and work together on something, whether it be leaving Argus or going back to the team. Oz can’t lie and trick Oscar into turning back like Marvel did to Dorothy - Oscar is very familiar with that shit by now - so Oz trying to convince Oscar to keep going could potentially lead to realizations that, hey, Salem can’t be killed but we can still prevent her from winning the Relics, what we’re doing isn’t pointless at all. Maybe it might even lead to the story of the last time Oz gave up and how the original Maidens helped him? Oh, we might even get some Oscar and Oz agreeing on how awful everything is going, perhaps even some regret for turning on each other? Please, CRWBY??
Here’s to hoping, y’all!
