I love Todd in the Shadows but

Calling THE Boris Karloff "horror adjacent" is his worst take ever. You can make a case for MGK but this shit is indefensible. The words "horror icon" are used in the SECOND line of his Wikipedia page. You would have to know literally nothing about horror movies to make this argument. Unless Todd is a diehard stan of Lon Chaney and/or Bella Lugosi I don't see how he could say Karloff isn't a horror icon while showing a picture of him as THE classic movie monster.

Bad writing

I find it very frustrating when I'm writing something that I know is bad because, on the one hand, I want to try and improve it and turn it into something not bad but, on the other hand, I just get so fed up of writing something I'm not enjoying that I just want to rush through it even though I know that will produce an even worse end product. In the last chapter of my fic I went for option 2 and it left me pretty unsatisfied, so I think in future I'll try to salvage my own bad writing. Hopefully I never encounter the same situation again but chances are I probably will.

Fratjo VS Nerdjo

Is my noticing that Fratjo and Nerdjo are the embodiment of the two sides of “Are you The Strongest because you’re Satoru Gojo, or are you Satoru Gojo because you’re The Strongest?” a very witty observation or is that the entire point?

100 Hits

My Jojo fanfic just reached 100 hits on AO3!!!!!!! I know that isn't a huge milestone (and I'm not even entirely sure how hits work) but it's still a big thing for me. I've been planning this story out in my head for years and so seeing it get decent reception now that I'm actually writing it feels really good. I'm not sure how people are receiving it, I only got one comment and it was from an AI scam bot so I deleted it, but I hope people are enjoying reading it as much as I've been enjoying writing it!

One of the best parts of writing it has been gradually solidifying my ideas over time. I started writing with much less planned out than I probably should have but that's given me the opportunity to alter my plans over time to accommodate ideas I've had while reading the manga; the only example that's actually shown up so far is Jojolion Kira appearing but rest assured that more concepts and characters from Jojolion and even now The Jojolands will appear later on.

Hopefully people continue to enjoy it going forward! (and hopefully I can get my release schedule on track. The chapter I'm writing now is six days late 🥀)

Shameless fanfic promotion

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure REDUX is a fanfiction project I've been working on for years. I started planning it about two years ago and I had been steadily putting off the actual writing for all that time until a little over a month ago when I finally knuckled down and started writing it.

The story takes place in an alternate version of Morioh, set on a small island off the coast of Japan, in which characters from part 4 (and a few characters from other parts) have been changed either slightly or dramatically. Josuke, the main character, has gone fairly unchanged but Koichi and Okuyasu are quite wildly different.

It's not just altered canon characters though, the part also features several of my own OCs with original Stands. These fan Stands range from silly little episodic side villain stuff to wildly powerful; although I think they're all reasonably on-theme.

The book is still ongoing, with at least one chapter releasing every week (although I'm not great with sticking to deadlines) so it'd be much appreciated if you'd check it out 🙏 https://archiveofourown.org/works/81556506/chapters/214473961
