I'm sure I will get hate for this but anyone else thing that Alastor came off as both stupid and pathetic this season?

He's got nothing going on since he lost to Adam and is literally flailing desperately. He's clearly so egotistical that he can't talk to anyone else about his problems and would rather run from Vox than try to help Charlie with him. He would rather try to desperately get his boss to change her mind than just tell anyone at the hotel that Adam left him so wounded he might never recover his full power.

His plan to surrender makes no sense, listen to the words Vox agreed to, so he can't touch her, since when does that effect anything Vox might wanna do to her, if he is allowed to talk about her than he can ruin her life, honestly distracting Vox by hanging out with him is more effective at keeping Charlie safe than the wording of that deal. But then he just goes on and on about how Vox needing other people is a weakness like he isn't 100% reliant on Rosie for his powers and that team work isn't the best power out there in the first place. The only reason the fight was even close is because Nifty cares enough to come help him, but no needing other is a pathetic weakness, says the idiot who never did anything by himself.

Adar is 100% Sauron

The first time he appeared I thought he might be but the more episodes pass the more certain of it I am. That is Sauron the Deceiver pretending to be an elf.

Alicent is so about to get worse. Rhaenyra got to have a fun adventure where her uncle taught her the importance of being sex positive and what was this cut between, Alicent being “used” by the king and clearly hating it.

Some people think Alicent was jealous when she confronted Rhaenyra, nah, she isn’t jealous, more like she is becoming prudish, she is horrified at the idea of Rhaenyra her best friend having to deal with the same sexual things as her but she also doesn’t think women can or should like sex because of how bad her only experience with it is.

When she finds Rhaenyra lied she is gonna freak. She’s not gonna understand  how Rhaenyra could like or want sex. Give it a few episodes and this girl is gonna be preaching about the evils of sex and denouncing her friend for being a slut.

Since Plagg taught Adrien to control what he looks like when he transforms  does that mean he could start editing his original Chat Noir outfit?

Maybe he could just do some small changes like say, giving himself pink hair?

Ok but the unquestionable best part of this episode was Plagg. Adrien’s real father actually helping him out and understanding how he feels

the reason bisexual and nonbinary people get so much hate is because we challenge the idea that people can be separated into little boxes to stop them from mixing with and “corrupting” the others. doesn’t matter which bathroom i use, if they’re marked with a binary gender then i’m gonna be in there with people who aren’t my gender. doesn’t matter who i date (or don’t), there’s always the potential that i could date someone with a gender different from previous partners. we are living breathing proof that any attempt to contain human gender & sexuality is doomed to failure and i think that’s very sexy of us

Episode 8 thoughts

Seanchan, SEANCHAN, ok but seriously those Seanchan, is a literal leash and collar just too much to ask for? Not sure about this weird mouth guard thing. The general look is weird but that’s mostly inline with what we are told, their aesthetic should be strange. Also why is the Fleet of the Return summoning a giant wave to attack an empty shoreline? Like what? Why not have them doing something anything that actually makes sense for them to do?

Most of the rest was pretty good, Ishy carried loved every fucking minute of it, loved the Rand being tempted in the dream world scene. The horn showed up rather suddenly but I love how its in this like weird plastic box from the age of legends.

Band seems pretty broken up right now, girls will go back to school, and I guess Perrin will go on the Great Hunt of the Horn but how is he gonna get Rand to join him, Mat might want the knife Fane has. Well won’t have to worry about that until next year anyway.

Just binged Arcane and boy was it ever fucking sick. As someone who played League like 8 years ago as a Vi main, I was interested, but wasn’t sure what the plot was gonna be. God damn did that blow me away.

Like Vi was just perfect, punch first, ask questions while punching, if at all.

Jinx, was probably the best part of the whole show, her trauma and how they express it was really well done. Which reminds me, this animation style is amazing, the blend of 3d and 2d compliment perfectly, I hope more and more projects try this style because it honestly looks so perfect.

And I haven’t even started talking about how amazing Victor and Jayce are both having arcs about the danger of obsessing over their work yet they go in two very different ways.

The meat of the whole plot though, this sort of civil war between Piltover and Zaun, with Zaun rising as a sort of rival city from Piltover’s slums, pretty brilliant and really links the two places together as two sides of the same coin. Too bad Jinx blew up the peace conference, its ok, I’ll forgive my daughter for anything.

Ok but as an episode which is basically a deep dive into Moiraine this episode was so good. She’s being so sneaky and engaging in so much double talk and deception its great.

Waiting in a café until Nynaeve leaves Rand and Mat, having her Blue Ajah meeting in a public spa like they were spies, lying to Egwene for no reason, having a secret back door to meet with her secret boss/lover.

She’s like a maxed out social rogue who somehow became Gandalf.

Starting to get really annoyed by some of the changes, a lot I can understand but Mat staying behind, why? What narrative or character purpose does Mat abandoning his friends as soon as things looked a little scary serve?

But also “ships have been disappearing off the west coast” *intense foreshadowing* no please don’t go look into it, send Liandrin to look into it.

OMG yes pour on the angst all the angst. Watching a warder slip away is sad enough but Mat asking Rand to kill him if he goes mad, “you’d do the same for me right?” what a thing to say. I’m just waiting for Rand to go on an even longer rant about how awful it must be to be a man who can channel.

And I guess Egwene and Perrin got tortured too, whatever all I wanna talk about is this angsty suicide pact.

Episode 5 Prediction

So if you haven’t noticed yet I am seeing a clear formula in these recent episodes. 3 had the major Mat and Rand plot, 4 had the major Nynaeve plot, which means 5 will have the major Perrin and Egwene plot, which means the White Cloaks. That maybe obvious, but based on a synopsis which claims they will run into a “familiar face”, I am predicting that Fane will already be with the White Cloaks, likely accusing Egwene and Perrin of being dark friends responsible for the Trolloc attack. A situation that will likely require a wolf attack to get out of.

You know Perrin talking to the Tinkers about pacifism and the problem of violence is probably gonna hit much different now. In the books he just kinda shrugs off the idea of being unwilling to fight even in self-defense as ridiculously radical but he literally killed someone by accident because he got caught up in the panic and violence of the fight. If you wanna talk about someone using violence causing harm to themselves by doing it Perrin is literally the prime example.

I think Sanderson was right and I wish they had gone with someone like Perrin’s master, inventing a whole new character for it seems a bit cheap but Perrin accidently killing someone does work pretty well.

Now that I’ve had a day to process the changes and calm down from the natural knee jerk reaction of simply disliking change for being change, I’m really interested to see more episodes.

So many of the actors are so perfect and their interactions are too. Lan, Moiraine, Nynaeve, Rand, Thom, and Mat (which is sad he is leaving) are all perfect. The flirting between Lan and Nynaeve actually works, like omg, in the books I always find their romance super awkward early on.

Rand and Mat’s arc meeting Thom and the dark friend was my absolute favorite sequence so far. Thom has just the right amount of worldliness, arrogance, and that ever so slight disdain for the peasants he now lives among. And the darkfriend, she serves as a pretty ideal example of what actual dark friends are like and what motivates them, they are often disillusioned with the current society, some take up religious views on the topic but a lot view it as purely transactional, seeking to gain rewards for serving. She manages to express all these views when she confronts Rand and Mat, but the amazing thing is that she comes off as a perfectly normal person, and yet the radical dark friend views she expresses fit perfect with that character who at first seems merely like a sassy inn keeper. She’s just such a perfect example of a dark friend, she’s not evil, she made choices for reasons, they might have been poorly informed and bad choices but real people make choices like that all the time. And that’s the thing I like so much, she felt like a real person.
