"Well, Queen Elincia! Imagine meeting you here. You're looking as lovely as ever I must say."

"King Tibarn, it’s good to see you here after such a long time," Elincia greeted, the usual twinkle of amity present in her hazel eyes. "I thank you for your kind words. How have you been?"

"Same to you as well, Queen." Tibarn spoke with his normal confident smile. "I have been just fine. Rebuilding my country is not an easy job, but... My men and I have been making good progress. Might I ask how you've been faring as well?"

"Leanne." Tibarn greeted, smiling down at the much smaller laguz. "It's great to see you again. I hope no one's been giving you trouble lately? You know I wouldn't stand for that while I'm around."

”{{King Tibarn!}}” Leanne couldn’t help but return the smile. She was very grateful to what he had done for her and her family and it was always good to see him doing well. “{{No need to worry about me. I am feeling most splendid.}}”

"Very good to hear, princess! I know you're plenty capable and have many people looking after you, but I can't help but wonder now and then."

He smiled and raised an eyebrow in her direction, his tone having a hint of humor in it. "How is that fool raven treating you? I'll knock some sense into him if you ever need it."

Dipping Birds || Tibarn & Janaff

"It’s still surprising to see how young they are, but they fight well with weapons. We need to make sure not to fall behind." Janaff was definitely not going to let beorc surpass their strength, but he knew they could become very strong with training.

"I bet everyone would gladly hear you speak to them. They would appreciate it. Maybe then they will work as hard as is expected of them." Of course Janaff knew that they didn’t have to work as hard as he did, because of his position. However, he would want them to understand what hard work was and what they were doing it for.

It didn’t take long before they arrived at the bar and it was easy to forget the time when they were speaking. “Alright, time to have a drink.” He grinned as he already ordered his beer when sitting down at the bar.

"Hah! No matter their strength, there's not a chance in hell that we'd fall behind them. Take their weapons away and those poor fools are defenseless. All we have to remember is not to underestimate them and we'll be just fine."

Tibarn gave a proud grin as they moved on ahead, the bar in clear sight at that point. "I'm certain they would. Our soldiers are all good men, but even the best of us need a boost now and then."

The two arrived and made their way inside, and as Janaff chose a spot to sit Tibarn followed after and picked a seat next to him. He ordered a glass of whiskey for himself, looking to Janaff as they waited on their drinks.

"Have you spoken with Reyson lately?"

To the Skies || Tibarn + Reyson

Reyson scoffed and turned his head away. Although while Reyson would rather continue to be mad, it was true Tibarn had already gotten what he deserved..

”..It is….Fine though..I guess I forgive you.”

He flew  out of the shallow water and landed just beyond the waves’ reach, looking back along the beach and noticing a grim reminder. His and Tibarns shoes back where they had been sitting.  He could not simply stay in his heron form to avoid further embarrassment without potentially leaving them behind later. His feathers ruffled in discontent before he finally resigned to changing back into his more human form. His clothes no less soaked than they had been before. he crossed his arms, looking away still embarrassed.

”..It is unfair.  You already wear so little it doesn’t matter quite as much if what you have is soaked.”

Tibarn waded out of the water back to shore, holding his arms out at his sides as he looked down at his dripping pants. With a sigh he let it go, removing his jacket from his body.

"Hey now, I don't know if I would call all this just a little! I may not wear a shirt under this coat, but that's only one piece of clothing less, is it not?"

With a smile Tibarn walked over along Reyson's side, giving him a pat on the shoulder as he looked down at him.

Valentines Day is for the Birds || Tibarn/Reyson

"The selection, as always, is just fine. Your chefs have done well to remember what I like even after my time away.." Reyson watched Tibarn eat as he absentmindedly pulled food onto his own

"So you do like it then..I’m glad." He looked down at his food, eating, trying to keep pace with hawk’s pace "I suppose the beorc may be onto something..with this holiday that is…this has been nice."

"Good, good. I'm glad to hear that." Tibarn continued to eat his meal, slowing his pace as he noticed Reyson attempting to keep up. He supposed there was no need to hurry anyway.

His attention caught by the tone of Reyson's voice, the hawk king raised his eyes from his plate to spot the small blush on the prince's cheeks. He smiled a bit to himself before returning his eyes to his food.

"I agree, Reyson. I've had a fine time. Maybe we'll have to celebrate again together next year."

Valentines Day is for the Birds || Tibarn/Reyson

Reyson stood tall at Tibarn set him on his feet, attempting to retain any pride and dignity he had left after the entire fiasco this evening became, although a telling blush still faintly covered the heron’s pale cheeks.

  "I can. I think I will be alright now..thank you for your help."

Reyson fluttered his wings, lightly beating them against the king to shoo him away before sitting down at the table. Reyson leaned against the table, watching as the hawk servants as they brought out the food.

The fish he had mistakenly cooked was placed on the table, presumably chilled, along with a few more things to make it a proper hawk meal, alcohol included of course. Along side them were foods for his own, weaker stomach; fruits, vegetables, nuts and things of that sort prepared for him to eat. Sadly in the 20 years Reyson had stayed in Phoenicis the hawks had never fully mastered the much smaller proportions that the heron was actually able to handle, the result being far too much food that was his responsibility to eat. His eyes narrowed looking at the food, there was no way he could eat it all..but the hawks weren’t fond of the food themselves..as always he’d just have to try his best.

First assuring himself that Reyson was well and balanced, Tibarn put a bit of distance between himself and the prince as the heron's wing gently beat against his chest. He took his seat at the table.

"I hope the selection suits your tastes, Reyson. You'll have to remind me of your favorites next time we dine together so I know you'll be satisfied." Tibarn covered his plate with chopped sections of the fish caught for him by the prince, and filled his cup with the fresh alcohol. He took no time to dig in.

"Cooked or not, the fish is quite good, Reyson. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the gift."

Reyson looked over just in time to see the Tibarn’s truly deserved splashdown. He stretched his neck, trying to see the fallen king, but to no avail. He was simply too far out to see. Reyson huffed, he had really hoped manage being mad a bit longer but..it seemed either way that he had been avenged.

With a few beats of his wings the heron was airborne again. He flew gracefully back to Tibarn. His return was, however, not without the continued irritation and scorn over Tibarn’s betrayal. Reyson gently landed on Tibarn’s stomach, bracing himself against his legs from the waves that washed over the downed laguz to prevent from being assaulted himself.  He looked down as smugly as a bird could manage at the similarly humiliated hawk.

”..Good thing the water’s warm..right, Tibarn?”

Pushing himself up out of the water Tibarn set Reyson down in the shallower water and looked down at the the coat that stuck to his soaking body. He groaned, stretching his wings out and flapping them dry behind him. "Yeah... Good thing..." he mumbled.

The serious look on his face did not seem to want to remain, however, and it was not long before he met Reyson's continued scorn with a smile and a laugh.

"Guess that's what I deserved, huh? Will you forgive me?"

Janaff waited until the king was ready to leave, before walking into the direction of the bar. “Which probably means we’ve both been doing our job correctly.” He smiled at the taller man.

"I made sure to train our men properly, although some really need to try harder." A small sigh escaped his lips. "But they’re still young, so there’s plenty to learn and I’ll make sure to keep them motivated." Janaff wasn’t the person to just give up. He would do whatever it takes to reach his goal.

"I may just have to agree with you!" Tibarn chuckled, knowing well what a good job Janaff had been doing with his work. And though he only sometimes liked to brag, the king believed he could say the same for himself.

Tibarn kept his pace matching Janaff's, and as his friend continued his talk concerning training, his grin faded a bit as he displayed a certain seriousness.

"Well, the beorc are a good enough example of strength despite youth... With enough support I'm sure the men will have no trouble raising to the top. How about I stop by to boost morale one day?"

Dipping Birds || Tibarn & Janaff

Janaff could clearly hear his voice and with permission granted, he opened the door and stepped inside. “I didn’t keep you waiting for too long, right?” He grinned at the taller man. Work or not, Janaff always came on time unless something more important happened.

He moved out of the room again and stretched his arms. “Nothing better than a nice drink after a day of work.” It was easy to forget that the king was his boss instead of a friend and all formalities were easily thrown aside.

"Not at all, actually." Tibarn replied, adjusting his jacket one last time after pulling it on. "I'd say you're right on time."

Tibarn exited the room at Janaff's side, turning and locking it as soon as both were out. It had been a long week for the both of them; the hawk king had no doubt of that. Though their night had just started, he had already began to relax.

"Agreed. I think we could both use one at this point!" He joked, showing Janaff a smile. "So you'll have to tell me how things have been for you lately. I feel like we haven't had the time to talk these days."

More than anything Reyson regretted his word choice. Tibarn’s arms released the heron like trapdoor and as gravity took over it was not surprising that Reyson’s upper body strength was enough to deny the inevitable. Reyson crashed down into the water on his butt, the water splashing up and soaking him before settling up to his shoulders.

Reyson let out a series of small exasperated gasps as he scrambled up to his feet. The prince was completely drenched, something not typically preferred for someone who wears all white. His sleeves were rendered nearly completely see-through and clung to his frail arms, and although his coat was thankfully thick enough to conceal anything truly revealing it still hinted at the pale skin beneath and hung heavy at his sides, clinging uncomfortably to his small frame. Embarrassment covered Reyson’s face in a deep blush as his expression twisted up with frustration, his wings puffing.

"I..I..!!"

The prince’s irritation seemed beyond words. He scoffed and he huffed seeming genuinely upset, when all of a sudden it all seemed to go away. There was a moment of hesitation while the prince simply frowned but soon Reyson began to transform, taking his heron form. The prince took to the air, splashing a bit at the king as he left the water.

Reyson flew farther out to sea, away from the shallow water where Tibarn could stand. He landed ontop of the water, keeping himself afloat as birds of water heritage do. He glanced back at Tibarn, ruffling his feathers a little before looking away, giving a bird’s best attempt at a snub.

Reyson's reaction was more than Tibarn could have began to hope for. The king watched, the amusement in his eyes growing as the heron emerged from the water in a huff. He eyed him over with a grin spread across his lips and admired the way the prince's now semi-transparent clothes clung to his skin in silence.

Before he could speak again though, Reyson's expression changed yet again. Tibarn's grin began to fade from his face and he came to realize that he had made a mistake. He could get away with stealing a prince's shoes but it seemed that dropping a prince in the ocean was a whole other act. One that was not preferred, it seemed.

Reyson had taken flight, and before Tibarn could even take chase he had landed further out at sea. The king held his arms out at his sides in a shrug before hanging them down once more. What was he to do now?

"Reyson! Are you truly that angry at me?" he called over in a tone he hoped was loud enough to be heard as he stepped backwards. He assumed it would be easier to take flight from the beach rather than knee deep in water. It may have been easy for a water bird like Reyson, but not for Tibarn.

Turning his head back to view the distance between the beach and himself, he lost concentration on the tide. One wrong step later the king's balance was lost, and much like he had done to Reyson, he fell back first into the water beneath him, letting out a startled shout as he went. He thought this might be karma for his actions.

Reyson looked up at Tibarn, but cast his eyes down again as Tibarn lectured him out of concern. He did not fuss as he usually would have over being picked up, simply settling into Tibarn’s arms. The prince was still for a few moments in thought before he put up a slight struggle, but only enough so that he could sit up a little. Reyson reached up, wrapping his arms behind Tibarn’s neck. He pulled himself up, lightly kissing Tibarn’s cheek before burying his face in his neck, attempting the best he could at a weak hug.

”..I’d like to apologize again but I will respect your wishes…I have liked you for..a very long time..and despite my current condition I really want you to know that I am just…incredibly happy…So thank you..I greatly enjoyed your gift.”

Tibarn was only halfway through his walk to the dining room when Reyson struggled to push himself up in his arms. The king's steps slowed, and came to a stop as he felt Reyson's lips touch his cheek. He was grateful that the prince had lowered his head to rest against his neck afterwards. This way he would not see him blush.

He laughed lightly as he continued his walk toward the dining room as he tried to mask his nervous excitement. "I'm very happy as well, Reyson... Thank you for making my night all the more worth while."

Moments later the two arrived in the dining room; the servants were right on time with setting the table for their meal . Tibarn was sure to set Reyson down on his feet carefully by his seat before letting him go "Can you stand?"

As soon as it’s alright if I do this crossed Tibarn’s lips, Reyson braced himself knowingly for the inevitable really unwanted thing that the king had planned. He fluttered his wings in protest.

"Tibarn! I am not a damsel! Put me down!"

He looked down as the large hawk moved out further into the ocean, the water getting to be far too close for comfort. Reyson struggled in Tibarn’s arms, attempting to climb from his arms and up higher onto the larger man’s shoulders to avoid the inevitable encounter with the rapidly encroaching water.

"Y-yes, I guess it is lucky that it is warm but that does not make this excusable Tibarn stop this this instant.”

TIbarn smirked. Surprising the prince was always fun, but his knowledge of the events soon to come did nothing but add on to the humor of their situation in his eyes. He cocked an eyebrow as he looked at Reyson

"Makes what no more excusable? I was only carrying you. But I mean, if you want to be let down I can cooperate for now."

There was no doubt in his mind that Reyson was hypothetically kicking himself for his poor choice of words. That, or imagining himself kicking Tibarn instead. Oh well. Tibarn released his hold on Reyson, dropping him into the water beneath him.

Herons liked water. Right?

It was always nice to think of each other as friends rather than seeing the king as his boss. This way it was easier to work together since they could be open to each other and say what was on their mind. Although Janaff did drop the informal speech at times depending on the people they were with.

"It’s a deal." He would have enough time to finish the most important tasks and he could get a nice break. "I’ll meet up with you later then."

Janaff stretched when he was done with the necessary things and decided this would be a nice time to go for a drink. He headed towards the king’s room, assuming he was there and knocked on his door. “Tibarn, are you ready to go?”

"Right." Tibarn agreed, crossing his arms. "See you then. Try not to keep me waiting too long!"

He watched as Janaff hurried off to finish his chores for that day, a small smile on his face. There were surely some tasks left for him to complete before then as well. He headed off to get to work himself.

It was later that evening. Tibarn was in his quarters, getting redressed after quickly bathing. He was right to assumed Janaff would be showing up soon, hearing the knocks on his door."Come on in!" he called out, waiting for the smaller hawk to enter.

"Good to see you again." he greeting as he finished dressing, pulling his coat on. "I'm ready."

Reyson sighed, his efforts having merely made him look foolish. He looked away giving a small nod to the king “..Yes thats fine. I don’t feel very well still so it would likely be for the best.”

He tried to stand on his own, wobbling a little and taking another step to get his balance.  His wings extended a little to maintain his balance, hesitating before starting back inside. “I am sorry for all the trouble..” he sighed before looking away, attempting to quickly change the conversation “..Do you suppose they have finished with dinner yet.”

Reyson's balance clearly was not it's best after the fall. Tibarn watched as the prince wobbled before taking a single step, and knew then that he would have to help the heron for just a bit longer whether he liked it or not. He reached over and placed a hand on Reyson's arm, grabbing hold of him to prevent him from moving any further.

He sighed and looked to the prince with concern. He should have known far before this that the combined events would leave him in this state. Tibarn would have punched himself for not thinking things through a little better if he could.

"I don't want to hear you apologize again, Reyson. Hell, I don't want to hear you call what you cause me 'trouble', either." he sighed. "Look... I didn't kiss you for giving me hell you know. I did it because I like you. I... Well I have for a long time. So you can't call it 'giving me trouble' if I like having you around!"

Tibarn leaned down to place his free hand under Reyson's legs and scooped him up into his arms. He stepped sideways through the doorway to assure Reyson's wings would not catch on the door frame and walked with slow steps down the hall. He avoided direct eye contact in hope that Reyson would not notice the red on his cheeks.

"I'm sure the food is ready by now... Maybe something to eat will calm your shaking."

『Dasein』 || Tibarn & Sephiran

The sound of footsteps amongst the rain brought the heron’s melody to a close. It seemed he had been optimistic to think the forest would dampen his voice. But, considering the one who had found him, any measures of precaution would have been for naught. The black heron turned and looked down upon the hawk king, seemingly unperturbed by his appearance.

"It is a pleasure to see you as well, King Tibarn. If it pleases you, the royal heirs share your opinion. You should be able to convince them to banish me once King Lorazieh passes down the throne," he retorted coolly and descended the altar steps. Though Tibarn was not one to act rashly, Sephiran knew not to test his patience by speaking down to him. In any case, he was in no mood to instigate a fight—much less one against a man who would aid Empress Sanaki’s future in the years to come.

The king’s gaze emanated a deep, black spite that dared the chancellor to bait his fury. Had such a meeting occurred two years prior, the heron would have undoubtedly risen to meet that challenge. Now, he was simply weary. Any abhorrence he face, he would have to accept for what he had done. Perhaps, if he was fortunate, he would someday cross paths with one unable to control their hatred.

"If you are here to speak, then do so, or leave me be," he murmured with no hint of his former indifference. He met the hawk’s stare with a disillusioned look of his own. There were no more schemes to be made, nor deities to be restored. Sephiran stood before the king of Phoenicis with none of the strength, nor conviction he’d had in the Tower of Guidance. All that remained of him were his regrets as he struggled, day by day, to ground the memories he had gleaned over the years.

The king's glare narrowed as Sephiran came closer to him. His fists clenched tightly as he fought the urge to hit the man square in the face as he thought he deserved. Instead he remained still.

"I had assumed you were dead." Tibarn scoffed before falling silent once again. If there were any true complaints that came from Ulki and Janaff, they were those regarding the king's terrible temper. There was only one thought that kept him from losing it.

"But maybe you're better off this way..." he thought out loud. "You have nothing to live for anymore, do you? You... lost it all the day your foolish plan became known to everyone. I'm impressed, if anything. To see you standing here."

Janaff grinned a little in return. There was no way he would want to disappoint the king, especially not since they have known each other for a long time. He didn’t mind working so hard for him and his people.

"You know you can always call me when you need something to be done. I can change my schedule every now and then." Reyson was one of the reasons why his schedule changed, but it was nice to have variety every now and then.

"We should have a drink together soon. I mean, we’ve both been busy, so we haven’t seen each other much."

Janaff seemed as eager as ever to get out there and assist the king in any way he could. His good mood was enough to make Tibarn want to think of something he could do. He knew it could wait, though.

The suggestion to drink together came as a nice surprise to Tibarn. He smiled in response, also giving the smaller laguz a good pat on the shoulder.

"Sure thing, Janaff! I'd be happy to drink with you." Thinking about it, it had been a while since the kind had had a good drink. He could definitely go for one. "Well you don't appear too busy today. Why don't we get together this afternoon? It'd be nice to spend some time with you as a friend, rather than a servant."

Reyson looked at his shoes then up at Tibarn as he rose, heading out near the water. He glanced at his boots again before deciding maybe it would be best to simply follow Tibarn’s lead and remain shoeless.

He got up and followed after Tibarn, hesitating at the water’s edge before moving into the tide by Tibarn. A slightly larger wave came through hitting his shins and nearly knocked the prince over between the push and the following pull and the heron grabbed tightly onto Tibarn’s arm for balance, continuing to hold on well after it passed.

”..Its no trouble, I’ve already told you. I’m happy to make time for you..we are friends afterall…”He looked away a little “Besides its been a long time since I’ve gotten to come to the beach..and I’m certainly not inclined to come here alone.”

"You're right." Tibarn smiled. "I should likely stop thanking you for little things like spending time with me so often. We are friends... Of course that means it's alright if I do things like this."

Before Reyson could even question what Tibarn was talking about he was lifted into the larger man's arms. The hawk walked further into the tide, letting the water come up to his knees. He was sure the prince must have seen what was coming soon.

"The water's warm. That's pretty lucky, huh?"
