DOCTOR WHO IS BACK BITCHES!!!!!!!!
I watched Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead last night so⌠yâall might be hearing from me a little if I can find some time in my busy schedule this week haha. God how can one man (I say man, I mean stupid little twat) make me so angry so easily.
imagine comparing the heart-wrenching end of doomsday to the manipulative, plot convenient feels bullshit that was angels in manhattan
there's a difference between
parallel universe
and
literally just a different time period you have a time machine why are we doing this oh you can't go back to that town? go to the next town over oh my god this is stupid
chibnall has a habit of declaring the doctor as the moral authority in every situation, and no one can question her without being the villain
like in the spider episode, when the trump guy was gonna shoot the spiders, like sure it was cuz he was an asshole but getting shot is more humane than starving to death in an enclosed space surrounded by other dead bodies
and this keeps on going on, so her companions might get mad at her, maybe, but they wonât actively question her moral judgement
and they should because three genocides in one episode? being fine with freezing someone in a half concious state for eternity despite saying that it was a fate worse than death like 10 episodes before? iâm not even gonna touch on kerblam
itâs very frustrating after seasons upon seasons where the doctor is shown to be not a very good guy, and the show questions those decisions
then again the previous doctorsâ companions were actually characters and not exposition with the occasional character trait
so I just heard the news
amy had like eight careers while she was on earth. she was a kissogram, a model, a journalist (?) and then an author like itâs so fucking annoying they couldnât give her a more stable life
aha what if i posted my twenty-four-page essay (5.6k words) on why Chibnallâs era of Doctor Who, on top of being so badly written it hurts, is so performative itâs actually deeply harmfulâŚ.. noâŚâŚ.. unlessâŚ

If Spyfall had been written by a certain other writer, every other post would be talking about how gross it was that the Doctor casually handed the Master over to the Nazis after breaking his racial perception filter, but since itâs Chibnall itâs somehow ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ not noticed huh? lol
loollll I love that last anon with their sexy confession! I have one of my own: I haven't seen GITF either! đđ¤Ť
Oh, so many people have this very same confession it would appear! Let me help you all out by presenting you with a quick summary:
T H EÂ Â G I R LÂ Â I NÂ Â T H EÂ Â F I R E P L A C E
PAIRING: Moffat x His Ego x His Dick
CHARACTERS:
The Tenth Doctor: Time Lord, in general maintains the laws of time and makes sure everything is right in the universe, kinda important, but chucks it all away for I think 5 years of shagging?
Reinette Poisson: real, incredible leading lady of 18th Century France, a pioneer of arts and culture, appointed the Advisor to the King (Louis XV), literally brought nations together, a philosopher, a patron of the great philosophers of the Enlightenment, presented here as a physically sexy Strong Female who spends her life and subsequently dies waiting for a man because isnât that what all women do? #relatable
Rose Tyler: formally pivotal in caring for and loving the aforementioned Doctor, now The Nagging Wife. See also: âCamillaâ, home-wrecker, âyour motherâ.
Mickey Smith: the tin dog, but not as useful
A horse?
SUMMARY: Monsters are in search of nicking Reinette Poissonâs brain (perhaps because it is a wonderful marvellous brain but weâre never told, I think in this story it is a Plot Device to make her needing to be saved by a man), but the Doctor comes to the rescue! He unexpectedly falls in love with her (understandable considering she is Hot and Flirty), and must save her before the Droids claim her as their own. Either way, she waits. Meanwhile, Rose and Mickey have an adventure of their own and get caught, nearly die but thankfully donât because of wine, and then get left behind on a spaceship while the Doctor saves Reinette and Rose waits to be saved too. Â No more spoilers, you!
CHAPTERS: Far too many
TAGS: AU, romance (but the objective toxic kind), sex?, male gaze, anti-feminism, some pretty cool Clockwork Droids, really great costumes, sex, objectification, misogyny, sexy women, love requires the tolerance monsters
this is stillâŚ.so funny
It was
Great thing about this episode is they blew the whole VFX budget for the season and basically the entire music budget on Tainted Love and Toxic that it resulted in cheaper effects and a cheaper score for the rest of the season and they really didnât have to do that.
no, I digress, they did have to do that and arenât we glad they did

So yeh, please ask question!!!
i remember being 13 and reading a whole bunch of steven moffat quotes where he kept calling rose tyler annoying and too stupid for the doctor and being the âtype of girl to get pregnant as a teenagerâ and going as far as to say heâd kill her off if she hadnât been separated from the doctor before his run and me being like â....this feels bad beyond these things being said about a character i likeâ and only now being able to identify that it was classism. the emotion was classism
in response to being reminded of this i was like âshould i see what heâs said about marthaâ and decided that no. iâd like to at least try to have a good afternoon
Okay, Iâve been thinking a lot about the discourse within the DW community (mostly on here) about River Song, and even though my opinion isnât necessarily unpopular or unheard of, I wanted to give my thoughts to anyone who cares.Â
So, Iâm obviously a Doctor/Rose shipper through and through. Although this post isnât about them, I still feel the need to mention their relationship, if for anything to set a boundary or precedent. Their relationship wasnât flashy or abundantly apparent (at least from the beginning). I always really admired RTDâs writing in this aspect, because he created a relationship based on an intense mutual caring for one another, and didnât immediately take advantage of that to create a romantic narrative.Â
This directly feeds into my disdain for Riverâs storyline. Admittedly, I liked her in the beginning - itâs always great to see a strong woman in the spotlight, especially one who seems to be deeply complex in character. As the storyline went on, however, and I began to look deeper into her relationship with the Doctor, I unfortunately grew to resent the direction she went in. Iâm not one of those people who believes itâs impossible for the Doctor to love anyone besides Rose, either. Their relationship just felt⌠wrong. Not genuine. Crafted.Â
TLDR: River disappointed me because I liked her character, but I felt that her relationship to the Doctor was too much too fast, making it seem very unlikely.Â
Thereâs so much more I could say, so if anyone wants me to elaborate, feel free to send me a message.Â
What really gets me about River is that her plot line is complicated for the sake of being complicated, because Moffat thinks that things that are more complicated are clever. He thinks that giving sherlock all these convoluted assumption driven deductions and giving River a timeline thatâs almost impossible to follow if you arenât taking notes makes his work seem more intellectual, and this does a disservice to almost everything he writes because itâs not Clever, itâs just confusing, which is bad writing. Doctor Who has a relatively simple premise and a simple structure, and part of what I love about Martha and Rose and Donna is that even though they are complex characters, they are not convoluted. They have core values that remain in place and are willing to challenge the doctor when they need to. They are all relatable and normal and kind and strong and honest and all of these great things that get thrown out the window when you get to River because River isnât a character, sheâs a love interest and there is difference. This wasnât very organized but I could talk about this for days. Just because itâs complicated doesnât mean itâs good.
i agree. i have nothing against people who really enjoyed rivers character and relationship with the doctor, but to me the stories felt like they had bits stuck on them for no real reason - just to make it look more complex or intricate, and then the final explanation for all these little subplots and background-y bits is always too simple. idk what im trying to say - but river just felt like she was there to be loud and shoot-y and to banter with the doctor, then sheâd just show up a bit later and do the same thing. Maybe because her appearances were so sporadic, i dont feel as strongly for her as rose because we didnt see her relationship grow with the doctor as much, and since we mainly follow the doctors chronology (sort of) it just felt like âoh yeah shes your wifeâ and that was that. it didnt feel like there was enough development. but i have no real clue what im saying, cos im not a tv writer and i know that its really not my place to criticise, so pls forgive this post đđ
again, if you love river and her storyline, pls dont be angry - i dont have anything against her - i justs didnt feel she clicked into the story, personally. :)
